Her bosom heaved at an alarming rate as his rough hand found its way down to her soft, yet wiry briar patch…
Can you say briar patch in a romance novel? What about meat sword? That’s what it is…a meat sword, right, all meaty and sword like, slaying through the inner dungeons of a woman’s dark desires. What about breasts? Do bosoms really heave?
God, I have no idea what happens when private parts touch.
I’m a virgin trying to write a romance novel and can’t seem to write past a sex scene thanks to my lack of experience.
My two best friends encourage me to drop the pen for a while and gain some real life practice through multiple dating facets such as blind dates, online profiles, and random hookups.
But losing my virginity is proving to be tougher than expected…

There are no words to describe how much you will laugh!!
My husband had to check on me because he thought something was wrong I was laughing so hard I was crying…
A sweet story with a heroine that is endearingly naive.
I would like to thank Net galley, Meghan Quinn, and HOT-LANTA Publishing for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Rosie, Rosie, Rosie girl what are we going to do with you? Rosie is a sweet 23 year old whom is very innocent when it comes to her body and sexuality. See, she wants to be a romantic novelist but one thing is holding her back-she is a virgin. That’s right a virgin at age 23 years old!! Best friends Henry and Delany make it there mission to help change that status for Rosie.
Thanks to Meghan Quinn I will never trust a lady named Marta nor will I ever get a Brazilian Wax. Meghan’s description of Marta’s looks and demeanor was scary! That poor Rosie had no idea what she was getting herself into.
Henry was one of my favorite characters in the book. After being best friends with Rosie for so long he had no clue she was a virgin. He loved how sweet and innocent she was. He even made it his mission to teach her about things. You just have to read it the book and see what I mean.
Meghan Quinn actually educated me in this book. I never knew there were so many sexual slang words. Some had me laughing out loud.
I would definitely suggest this book if you enjoy romantic comedies that have you laughing out loud from start to finish.

The Virgin Romance Novelist by Meghan Quinn is a contemporary, friends to lovers, romantic comedy told in first person, single POV. The story follows Rosie as she enters the world of online dating and tries to get some sexual experience so that she can write better sex scenes. Her friends and roommates, Delaney and Henry offer encouragement, advice, and the push she needs that sets her on this course.
I enjoyed this story. The characters were likeable and fun. The story was full of humor and I actually laughed out loud several times. I would have given it a higher rating if there hadn’t been so many homophone errors that distracted from the story. This book would benefit from a good proofreader to make this funny story distraction-free and an even more enjoyable read.
I have had this book in my TBR since 2015 when it released. I am completely kicking myself for not reading this sooner. Ms. Quinn has made me laugh so hard. I absolutely loved Rosie and her adventures in researching for her romance novel. This is absolutely a must read for all romance readers!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
This was labeled as a “laugh out loud comedy,” but I would call it a “heroine gets into too many unrealistic situations that will make you roll your eyes sorta book.”
I just can’t imagine someone who has lived a super sheltered life and is not only a virgin, but has no real knowledge about sex outside of knowing that a peen goes in a vag, would all the sudden be 100% willing to go out on a bunch of dates and doing sexual things with all these men she just met. And the fact that every single date ended with her doing something ridiculously embarrassing didn’t fly with me.
Her relationship with Henry was also very unrealistic. I do believe that friendship can turn into real love, but Rosie and Henry’s relationship before it became physically intimate didn’t ring true to me. There was too much touching and cuddling and intimacy for it to be just friendship.
This book is runs intense in the sex talk, descriptions and situations. There’s quite a bit of curse words too.
I know there’s a sequel but I have zero desire to find out what happens to Rosie after she loses her V card. No thank you.
This story is sweet and full of laughs. And that ending, love!
Rosie is 23, a virgin, and trying to write a romance novel. She needs experience and is ready to put herself out there and date. Let’s just say that what ensues is filled with laughter, awkward moments, and some heartache.
I truly enjoyed this story. This could have been titled – Rosie’s Crazy Dating Adventures, LOL. If it could happen to this girl, it did. Honestly, there were times I couldn’t believe that a 23 year old could be so naive about so many things, but it sure kept the story interesting. I loved Rosie’s roommates Delaney and Henry. The three are best friends and share everything, and I mean everything. Get ready for some laughs and to be swooned.
This story is entertaining, heartwarming, and leaves a smile on your face.
I absolutely ADORED this book… up until the 88% mark. It was laugh-out-loud funny & adorkably sweet! The characters, the “lessons”, the gifts, the dates… They all had me busting a gut & shouting out, “OMG, that did NOT just happen!” on several occasions.
But the 88% mark… Totally unnecessary. (At least to the degree it went to.) I was VERY disappointed in that turn of events & in Henry’s behavior. *heavy sigh*
Overall, a super-cute read! I will definitely be checking out more books by this author!! 🙂
This book made me giggle, a lot. Sure, some stuff was over the top, but was very entertaining. Great best friends to lovers book. Looking forward to the next one!
This was a funny and entertaining story. I recommend it and look forward to reading more books from this author.
Well, this was cute. I knew it would be funny, but I didn’t expect to laugh out loud quite like I did. So, why the 3 stars? Because it was cute, but not mind altering. It was sweet and fun and light. Which is exactly what I needed to come off the angsty high of my last book.
Henry. God, I never thought I’d like that name, but here we are. Isn’t he adorable? The perfect bestie. Delaney is another perfect character. Full of life and fun and another example of a great best friend. Derk. The boyfriend of Delaney. He’s that secondary character that you want to read more about.
And last, but not least, there’s Rosie. Sweet, kind, caring, virginal Rosie.
Rosie is on a mission. The mission to lose her virginity.
How best to do that than by going on blind dates and setting up an online dating profile?
But really, Rosie is a klutz. Everything that can go wrong, goes wrong. It doesn’t seem to matter the situation. Something. Will. Go. Wrong.
Funniest thing about the book: Sir Licks-a-lot
If you hate cats. Or if you like cats. Read this book. You’re gonna love Sir Licks-a-lot and his pussy posse.
½ laugh out loud stars!
Writing style: 1st Person POV (Rosie’s)
Minor spoilers alert!!!
What did I like about this book?
HEA / Steamy / Informative / Entertaining / Witty / Original / Page-turner / Romantic
Henry’s nickname for Rosie – love – was so adorably cute and apt!
Sir-Licks-A-Lot was devious! His feline antics and the ire he inspired in Rosie and her co-worker Jenny were wickedly funny.
Rosie was such a dating trooper. And Henry deserved a best friend medal for coaching her on dating and giving her sex tips without spilling the beans on how he felt for as long as he did. Their roommate Delaney and her boyfriend Derk were also great supporting characters with their own “aww” and funny moments.
In general, this style of humor was right up my alley. Life can be so awkward, and there’s so much you don’t know beforehand because people don’t talk about the embarrassing stuff as openly. So, until you can experience it all for yourself, it can be super entertaining, less scary and eye-opening to experience it via a fictional character’s journey first.
Would I recommend this book?
Yes, absolutely! I’d recommend this one to readers who enjoy laugh out loud romantic comedies and the combined falling for my best friend and virgin romance tropes.
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the “cock ring research” scene in the epilogue. It was the perfect scenario to end this sometimes adorkable and highly entertaining romance with.
