Beneath the Lies: Living With Lies #1 is a fabulous tale of loss and betrayal. A contemporary romance with plenty of suspense intertwined throughout the writing design. We begin with a fascinating prologue that leads into a highly captivating saga with a coming of age theme. Truth, lies, love, and destiny collide in this spellbinding novel. Kate Reynolds and Gavin Loman are very likeable, grounded characters that are well seasoned with deep compelling characteristics. Supporting character’s are a crucial part of the narrative and role is well played. A beautiful piece of writing that is very intense and addictive love story that encircles dark elements throughout the unfolding. A tear-worthy jerker novel that will capture your heart and soul. A stunning masterpiece to cherish. I have read a few of this authors books and I loved them all & highly recommend reading her novels. I am looking forward to reading more novels by this author as I have one other book of hers on my kindle. Locked away which is book two in this gripping edge of your seat tale was definitely just as jaw dropping as this one.
This is book from my early 2016 TBR pile on my kindle. I didn’t remember what the story was about, and by looking at the cover, I thought it might be erotica. Steamy romance, but not erotica, so the cover really doesn’t fit the genre.
This is your typical boy meets girl, the back & forth in their relationship, and then the HEA. The difference in this story is that the boy meets girl when they are very young children, then meet later as adults. Kate returns into Gavin’s life when her parents have been killed and she’s left alone. Leeta, a long-time friend of her parents, reaches out to her and offers her a place to stay at her luxurious home. But, there’s more to Leeta than Gavin or Kate realizes.
This tale is so much more than just romance. There’s murder, mystery, and intrigue. As the story unfolds, we learn that the relationship between Leeta, Gavin’s mother, and Kate’s parents wasn’t what she said. Gavin has turned away from his mother as she is a wicked, vile woman who uses everyone for her gain. So, he can’t understand why Leeta has asked Kate to stay with her. He knows Leeta has an ulterior motive. What does she gain from her lies and acting like she cares?
Leeta makes a great villain. We get a glimpse of her persona in the epilogue. I’m not sure if that hurt or helped the story. As the reader, I already knew she was mean, so maybe this should have been revealed during the story. Still, since we, the reader, knows she’s mean, we wait with anticipation for when she finally unveils her true nature.
I don’t want to post spoilers, so I won’t, but there are surprises aplenty in this story. One I kinda of thought was out of the realm of possibility. It has to do with a drug lord in Mexico. But, that also sets up the next story in the series. I have to admit, when I read the last two paragraphs, I had to buy the next book.
So, if you love a good steamy romance with lots of mystery and intrigue, I recommend this book. I give it 4 stars.
Yes I did it again and started with the second book first. I did however catch myself this time and moved to read this book before I finished book 2 and I am so glad I did. Now at least I have the full story and it’s not only a good one it’s full of all the things that leave your head spinning, you will fall in and out of love with a couple of the characters and change your opinion completely about others. The lies and craziness don’t stop with the first book and that I know from my sneak peak into book 2. There’s plenty of betrayal and a crazy, protective, over the top alpha male who will have you on the fence throughout the first books not knowing if he’s part of the problem or a problem or just in love. Crazy ex’s and more fill the pages and keep you ready to hit, slap or choke anyone close by. It’s an awesome read from an author that is new to me and I have to say the first was a freebie which easily led to my getting book two. Yes this one ends with a cliffhanger but since the second book is already out you can and will want to get to the second one immediately just like me!!
