Oh the sick and twisted things authors can come up with. It’s been a while since I’ve read Kylie but the title of the book grabbed my attention and wouldn’t let go. I knew during the first chapter that the book was going to be a good one and I was not disappointed. An added bonus was seeing Adam Raiker back – who is from her earlier series Mindhunters.
The significance of the number is that is what the bad guy calls the women he kidnaps and “trains” to be the perfect women by torturing and raping them into submission. Mia was the one he called 11 and she was the only one to ever escape him. Its been five years and she has been on the run ever since but when a body of a woman is found, Adam has his suspensions that she is of one of the women who was held captive with Mia and goes to Jude Bishop who gave Mia protection after her escape and eventually fake identities to leave the country with to see if he can locate her so he can question her.
I saw in the dedication at the beginning of the book that the author thanked the person that helped her with location information for Vietnam. Those chapters that were in Da Nang were very captivating and some of the best in the book.
This held your attention from beginning to end. The author pulled no punches in having both the main characters having sick and horrific past. They were two broken people who had to learn to live again but were never going to be normal. I hope this is the start of a new series because this was fantastic and I would love to read more about the other men and women that worked for Jude.
Held my interest from the get go. Easy read, great storyline and nailing biting scary.
I’m a fan of Kylie Brant’s Mindhunter series, but 11 qualifies her in my mind among the top thriller writers of this generation. Gutsy, fearless and incredibly smart writing, Ms. Brant takes the reader from DaNang Vietnam back to the US all while Mia Deleon aka 11 tries to outrun a madman desperate to return her to his collection. Mia is about as tortured a heroine as I’ve ever read and Jude Bishop the perfect match for her. Ms. Brant’s knowledge of technology, law enforcement, the human psyche had me flipping pages to see what would happen next. 11 is why thriller readers read. Kylie Brant weaves the mystery, suspense, heartache like the seasoned pro she is. Full of surprises, I was on the edge of my seat, and I absolutely adored the believable relationship she created between Mia and Jude. Pinky swear.
Unsure if Brandt is capable of writing a bad book! As usual, she is on top of her game!
Holy h*ll. I was intrigued from the moment I started this book and I could not put it down. This is a haunting story that will leave you wondering so many things, even though there is a happy ending! (well as happy as this book is.) There are twists, turns, amazing characters, and even a steamy scene for a little romance! You will not be disappointed reading this book. You may want to read a happy, romantic comedy after though..
I really enjoyed reading this book. Couldn’t put it down. It also really reminded me these crazy things do really happen in life. Loved the way it ended!!
This was an excellent book. I tend to judge a book by how much enthusiasm I have to keep reading or to listen more and this was that kind of book. Action packed have a tiny bit of steam and was excellent. It had a Melinda Leigh quality. Will definitely look for another book by this author
Breathless page turner, edge of my seat suspense. Intense, deeply developed characters. I love Jude and Mia, and the build of their romance. She is the only for him, and he is the only one for her. They’re survivors in every sense of the word. Well researched, lots of interesting details about settings, situations woven into the narrative. Can’t wait to read more of Mindhunters! Excellent.
Excellent
One on those books that I didn’t want to stop until I finished it!
Really enjoyed. Hated to put it down
