the MC is adorable.. the story was different and i liked it. i like how easy is to picture the scenes Michelle describes, she is a brilliant writer. about the narration, Michael Ferraiuolo is an amazing arrist/singer/actor and i love his narrations with his unique original voices. i received a free copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Tears Alert! First in series that branches off the parent series of Dragon Lords and Var Lords, His Frost Maiden is appropriately titled. The entire story enthralls and attacks the readers attention and that’s the bad to good part. The good part is that the story is easy to read and follow. We learn the purpose, the characters and reactions. Evan is a remarkable empath with clairvoyance and other abilities. As one of the Cursed, he didn’t expect Lady Josselyn Craven. Frozen statue for over 100 years, Josselyn adjusts to the present as if her last conscious thought didn’t happen just a moment ago. Many dynamics and the tears! The heart controls the story and I just love this author all the more for her stories. Love it!
Evan is a space pirate and cursed to live alone forever. Josslyn is destined to die like her family. Can Evan break his curse in time to save Josslyn? I liked the romance that developed, of course there are steamy scenes too. This is the first book in the Space Lords series. This book reminds me of star trek since it’s mostly played out on a spaceship. I can’t wait to read/listen to the rest of the series.
Evan is a psychic empath and he and his crew members are part of a premonition given when another crew member angered a vengeful spirit . Evan is trying to decipher the premonition when they go to a planet and find Lady Josselyn encased in ice she is set free and the first thing she sees is Evan. Although Evan tries to keep away from her that’s very hard to do on such a small ship and eventually they both give in to their desire for each other. Really enjoyed listening to this and would listen to Joe in the series I also enjoyed the narrator .
This series was new to me and I went in blind. I want to read the rest of these books. Story was great and the characters came to life!
This is an ABSOLUTE MUST.
The character building is fantastic. I love the fact that Evan is an empath and Josselyn is a strong female.
The world building is mind blowing with the futuristic & the historical, nobody does it better than Michelle M Pillow.
This is a wild ride. It has a curse, revenge, mystery, compassion, great sex scenes & love.
2 thumbs up!
Audiobook review- Entertaining space story involving an empath and frozen lady. Their beginnings may be unique but the love interest and heated moments are a tale as long as time. The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Cold blooded opportunistic Joss. I have an scant bit of empathy for Joss now than I did when I listened to the second book prior to this one but she is still a cool hearted vengeful being. They live/exist in a time where killing is as normal as breathing so it’s accepted and conditioned into them. Kudos to Jack’s last selfless gestures to vengeful Joss.
This was a great afternoon read, especially while doing dishes or crocheting. Is it the best book ever? No, it isnt. Is it a highly entertaining way to spend an afternoon? Absolutely! Everything flows pretty neatly throughout the story, and the machinations that lead up to the end of the story really take you by surprise if you arent looking for it. That being said it can get a bit on the melodramatic side, but it is still a decent read. Thank you for my afternoon getaways!
Space Lords Series: His Frost Maiden Is a Sci Fi Space romance story where a pirate crew decide to visit a planet after finding an old artifact. There is only one person left on the planet and she is hellbent on revenge for the deaths of her family. Along the way she finds her soulmate but as much as she loves him she has to give him up or be responsible for his death. This was a bit of an emotional read but well worth the rollercoaster.
Surprisingly entertaining
I’ve not read a lot of sci-fi romance nor am I a fan of historical romance. This book was somewhat of a cross between both. I was given an audiobook code to try it out, and this review is purely my own honest opinion.
The Hero of the book is an empath from a distant planet traveling on a ‘pirate’ spaceship scavenging everywhere they can. The Heroine is a princess on a moon colony based off of a medieval theme. Here’s where it gets really interesting… the colony was overtaken 100 years and turned into a stone prison where all the prisoners are frozen. When the pirate ship lands on it, they discover it had been completely abandoned and destroyed… save for one person, and we can guess who that person is!
From there, it gets really involved with more action and mysteries to resolve. There’s more royalty characters as well as some hard-nosed pirate crew members even though for the most part they are pretty tame on the ship since then major focus is on the main couple.
As a first book in a series, it definitely got me intrigued into the series although I would have liked a little more emphasis and acknowledgement on the theme behind what ties the books together in the series.
As an audiobook, it was different than what I’m used to. This was my first time listening to the narrator and I wasn’t sure he fit the story. After a couple of chapters, the story line drew me in and the voice seemed to develop into a better match for the story.
My interest is not only peaked to this series, but now I’m going to check out other sci-fi themed romance books and authors.
This is more like 3 1/2 stars. I like the premise of the story, I just don’t care too much for Evan himself. I personally felt he was too weak of man to be a lead in a story. I understand he’s empathetic but still he was too beta and not enough Alpha for me. I do like Josselyn and think she is a strong woman. I will be interested to see how the rest of these books goes.
I read the book a while back and had forgotten some important things. I loved the story. I find it touching, funny, and unique. The audio was an amazing re-read. The narrator did a great job with both the male and female characters.
Another unique story from Michelle Pillow. This one takes the reader on a really bumpy ride. Talk about lovers with problems–without spoilers, I can’t go into them, just know there are multiple life-threatening problems, loyalty, history, family and curses that go against the couple ending with a HEA.
The crew’s relationship is like a big family of bad boys with a tiny little mother trying to keep them in order when–yeah you got it–she’s as bad as the rest of them.
You’ll visit several new places, futuristic and historical. The great thing about a made-up world is it can be as different as your imagination and Ms. Pillow has a very active one.
The crew of space pirates but not really bad guys have been cursed. The wise-mouth Rick just can’t leave a powerful ghost alone. He keeps going until she throws out a curse—not only for him but for them all. It involves getting a mate. You’ll find out the rest. When the crew hears a partial rescue message puts them on a deserted moon with a devastating situation. The rescue isn’t what they expected.
Steam, love, friendship, and a great audio.
The Space Lords is a crew of misfits, who found each other through a series of adventures and are now family. We met them in the Var Lords series and they are now led by Prince Jarek and his mate, Mei.
Evan is an empath, which makes his life a tad…complicated. His world and his family were destroyed and when he met his former captain, Sam, she became his family. When Mei comes across a holocube with directions to a pardoned prisoner they decide to do the decent thing and go rescue her.
Just over a century ago Josselyn and her family were betrayed by a member of their inner circle. The last thing she recalls was her despair at realising she was the last of the House of Craven. When she is found by the crew, she has been frozen and when she thaws out she is distraught that all she knew is now gone. She goes onboard the ship and the do their best to help her acclimatise.
Why do she and Evan feel such a connection? Why is Evan savagely affected by her moods?
Wonderfully evocative writing when dealing with the trauma survived by Josselyn. The attraction between her and Evan is palpable and of course the sex is out of this world!! Fab read and looking forward to the next in the series.
