Jennifer Probst never lets you down!!
This review is for the audio book.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I began listening to this book. The premise was very interesting – a service that connects people with similar interests for a single night of no-strings attached sex. Not an escort service, not actually a dating service, but more like a “vetting” service that makes sure all of the similar boxes are checked on the application before it pairs people up (who have paid a pretty penny for them to do so).
I discovered that, while I love a hot and steamy sex scene that advances the story scattered throughout a book, I don’t particularly enjoy a book that is nothing much more than one long sex scene. Well, technically, that’s not true – there was the thinking of what the sex would be like, then the actual sex, then talking about more sex, more sex, thinking about even more sex, more sex…you see where this is going. I needed more character development, more fleshing out of their personalities and less actual flesh! Color me surprised.
Narrator Matthew Williamson has a very pleasant voice. Unfortunately, I heard very little change in tone when the chapter changed and the POV switched from the male to female protagonist or when voicing the female character from the male character’s POV. It made it somewhat difficult to follow who was thinking or saying something.
And the between chapter “whooshing” noise was both a little surprising and concerning as I thought there was something wrong with my Kindle. Plus it did not make that sound between every chapter.
This second in The Steele Brothers series is a bit more instalove than the first, but it’s just as much fun. I love the premise with the exclusive agency setting everything up and pairing people with compatible visions for the perfect night. Of course, things move beyond that one night, but we won’t go there to avoid spoilers. This is a novella-length read after all.
Roman and Sloane are great characters, and I love that Jennifer Probst took the time to make them three dimensional, and she did it without sacrificing the other elements of the story. Speaking of the elements of the story, Play Me is well-rounded just like book one in the series. It is instalove, and this pair generates enough steam to peel the paint off the walls, but Roman and Sloane are both likable. They’re the types of characters that are easy to root for.
Matthew Williamson brings this one to life for the audio, and like the first book, I enjoyed hearing his seductive purr. I like that he brings Roman to life so well, and he also voices Sloane. He doesn’t sound completely feminine but still gives her a distinctive voice without sounding cheesy. I’m sure it’s not easy, but Williamson makes it sound effortless.
The only drawback on the audio version was that there’s a hiss during any pause. It actually sounds like a tape rewinding or moving faster than normal speed. It’s not a huge thing, but it is noticeable, especially since it happened all the way through the book. That said, the hiss didn’t stop me from enjoying the story or its characters.
This one is more lighthearted than the first book, which is perfect for an easy listen. The couple has great chemistry, the steam just keeps rollin’, and it’s just what the doctor ordered for a bit of escape from this crazy ol’ world.
This is the second book in The Steel Brothers Series. This is a short, fun, fast-paced, and steamy novella. Sloane and Roman are fantastic characters, and they share an immediate attraction, and an explosive chemistry. Matthew Williamson did a good job with the narration. #valentinePR
WOW. I absolutely ADORED this audio by Jennifer Probst! It reeled me in from the very beginning and did not stop til the last second. Rome and Sloan were a match made in heaven. They were hot and heavy and the sex scenes were fire. I loved everything about this and the only downer is that it wasnt longer! I loved the narrator Matthew Williamson also, he did a fantastic job.
Audio Review: Play Me (The Steele Brothers) by Jennifer Probst, Narrated by Matthew Williamson
Step outside the box and tango with a little taboo. Roman and Sloane were a pleasurable surprise that packed more than a hint of heat. The Queen of Cards and the Devil of Temptation are a sweet escape from the norm. Williamson showed Roman had a heart hiding behind that bad boy shell. Probst gave romance a naughty edge and stole the show.
Play Me
The Steele Brothers Series, Book 2
By: Jennifer Probst
Narrated by: Matthew Williamson
This series is hot! But it’s just not about the sex. Jennifer Probst brings in Rome Steele, the second of the brothers and he wants more than his usual partner. He wants a woman who will not only submit in the bedroom, but challenge his intellect. Recommended by his brother, Fanta-C may the answer to his cravings. When he finds his chosen woman, he is smitten! Sloan Keller is a poker player. Smart, determined and beautiful, this woman could not possibly be the answer, could she? She doesn’t seem the type, but time will tell! What a fun, steamy listen! Probst has delivered her fantastic writing in an unrushed story, with great characters and incredible chemistry. Matthew Williamson uses his voices to bring it alive for us with his stimulating narration! It may be quick, but it will leave you happy and satisfied.

I love a good story about finding your true love, especially in Vegas. These two had immediate chemistry and I could feel it through the words. Novellas as perfect for me and give me just what I need in a short book. I like that this didn’t leave me hanging and gave me just enough!
4 Star review of Play Me (The Steele Brothers #2) by Jennifer Probst
Audio Review:
For such a quick listen, narrator Matthew Williamson certainly did justice to this story from Jennifer Probst. This is the second book I have listened to in this series and I have to say it was just as entertaining as the first book.
This time it is Roman Steele who is using the agency, FANTA-C at the recommendation of his brother to experience the fantasy of his dreams. Sloane Keller is a professional gambler who also wants to experience a night of fantasy and passion.
Rome is fed up with the women he has been with and wants a woman who is passionate, fiery, not afraid to take what she wants and can challenge and push him.
He has no idea why Sloane has signed up for FANTA-C but he is determined to make it a night neither will forget. Neither count on the chemistry that immediately sizzles between them. If only Sloane dares to take a chance, she might just find out that Rome is meant to be her happily ever after.
This was a short , steamy, slightly kinky story that had me invested from the first to the last chapter.
**I received a review copy of this title in exchange for an honest review. This is an audiobook review**
Story: This is the second book of the Steele Brothers series. You do not need to listen to the other titles to enjoy this one. This is erotica more than romance, so if you are uncomfortable with that level of heat, this is not going to be the book for you. It is for me, so this was a delightful story between Sloane, a famous and skilled card player, and Rome, a card dealer. They both sign up with Fanta-C, hoping to let off some steam and have some fun, but they found,oh-so-much more!
This is a novella-length read, perfect for when you want to have a quick listen.
Rome and Sloane’s chemistry is off the chart and even though it’s a short story, there’s a lot packed into it, with a satisfying resolution. If you enjoy this author’s work, be advised these books are way spicier than what she usually writes but not less satisfying.
Performance: Mr. Williamson is a new narrator for me. Although his performance is technically perfect, I am missing something, and I can’t quite figure out what. The erotica/erotic romance genres are notoriously difficult to narrate for and Mr. Williamson achieved a good balance, but I am missing the spark that would make this an outstanding narration.
4.5 Stars for Play Me
Audio Review
This is the first book I have listened to in this series but didn’t detract from my enjoyment and I will be looking at the previous book in the Steele Brothers as soon as time permits. This is a quick listen but Roman Steele’s story still packs a mighty punch as we join him at the FANTA-C to live out his fantasy’s and his dreams. Roman meets Sloane Keller who is looking for a night of passion and he decides to make sure this is a night neither of them will forget but will one night be enough……
This is a quick steamy listen and the narrator Matthew Williamson did a great job bringing the characters and the night of passion to life. Looking forward to reading or listening to more from the Steele Brothers and FANTA-C agency.
The second book in the Steele Brothers series, Play Me, is another steamy, sultry insta-lust to insta-love story. It does not disappoint. This series not the a long, satisfying love story, as some of Jennifer Probst’s other works, but it does still have the same quality of writing and narration, just in a condensed package, with TONS and TONS of steam. I mean really sizzling. If you’re not up for the added sizzle, there are lots of other Jennifer Probst books to listen to, but if you like some extra spice, snap this one up.

Play Me is book 2 in the Steele Brothers series by Jennifer Probst and is definitely another HOT book! !
Roman Steele is out to find a woman who is strong, independent, kick ass and beautiful but so far he is only becoming frustrated until his brother talks him into doing a one night stand through the FANTA C club and comes across none other than Sloane Keller who is at the top of her game in the World of Poker. She is a strong, independent, kick ass, beautiful woman who wants a man that is all of what she is and can show her that letting go can be a fulfillment to her dreams.
Can Roman and Sloane find what they are both looking for in each other and have their HEA or will it just be that Sloane is too much for Roman to handle???
