Psychologist Kai Ferguson has had his eye on Kori Williamson for a long time. His assistant is everything he’s ever wanted in a partner—smart, caring, witty, and a bit of a masochist. More than a little, actually, but that’s the problem. Kori won’t admit her own desires. She’s afraid of him and what he has to offer. Luckily for her, helping patients face their fears is one of his specialties.
… specialties.
Kori knows she wants Kai. Her boss is the most amazing man she’s ever met. She’s also smart enough to stay away from him. Having been down this road before, she knows it only leads to heartache. She’s just found a place where she can belong. Another failed relationship is the last thing she needs. It’s better to guard her heart and let Kai think she’s frightened of his dark, dominant nature.
When Kai is recruited for an operation with McKay-Taggart, everything is turned upside down. Kai’s brother, international superstar Jared Johns, is in town and Kai must juggle his family issues along with a desperate hunt for a serial killer. The investigation throws Kori and Kai together, and they quickly discover the chemistry between them is undeniable. But even if their newfound love can survive his secrets and her lies, it may not be enough to save them both from a killer’s twisted obsession.

I don’t know where to start… Kai and Kori they are made for each other.. Kori is a writer, but she let her old Dom run her out of town because he never gave her credit for her work.. They had a slave / Dom relationship.. Kori got tried of that and left.. Kori move to Texas and got a job working for Kai.. Kori also got a membership to Sanctum when she started working for Kai.. Kai is a psychiatrist.. He went into the military right after he graduated from high school. Because his mother died and he couldn’t deal with life.. He just wanted someone to make desions for him, so he left his brother with his aunt.. Which tuned out not to be such a good idea..
Such a wonderful book.
I listened to Kai and Kori’s story and once again I thought the narration was pretty good. The narrator slipped into his Dom voice once or twice when I wasn’t expecting it, but that did not take away from the overall performance.
I don’t feel like enough time was devoted to Kai and Kori’s relationship. It seemed like more effort was devoted to Erin, Jarod’s situation, Jarod and Kai’s past, Mia and Case’s attraction, and the search for Theo, then it was to Kori and Kai developing their relationship.
I had great hope at the beginning. My hope faded away to meh. Kai was supposed to be so tough, as a Dom and a sadist. I didn’t get the impression of toughness from him at all. Ian Taggert, even when he is caving to Charlene, is still tougher than most of the team. I also expected more scenes with Kori at Sanctum, especially since he was supposed to be showing his brother how to be a Dom.
I was highly disappointed after everything jumped off as the result of finding out the killer’s identity, that the resolution to Kai and Kori’s problem was never told to the reader. The book skipped to SIX months later. Unbelievable!
In spite of all of that, I did like Kai. I liked Jared. I liked Sarah, and Erin. Case was frustrating. I can always count on Ian for a laugh.
I was glad Kai felt like he did when he heard Jared’s story. I liked Kori at the beginning, but not so much when the self doubt started to kick in. The thing that is so majorly frustrating about the characters, is they NEVER talk to each other or ask questions. They are good at overhearing, and making assumptions without all of the facts.t
I would give this book 3 stars, maybe 3.5 because I enjoyed the narration. The storyline was not bad. It did feel like it wasn’t fully carried out to its logical conclusion, and I’m not talking about the ongoing Case and Mia story, or the search for Theo story. There also wasn’t as much action as in previous books.
I will be continuing, if only to find out about Theo. I’m not sure I care about Cass and Mia.
A fun read about a therapist and his quirky assistant. When his assistant is put in danger, and the guys who run the D/s club that houses his office can’t protect her, our quirky therapist manages to realize how much he wants her and will do anything to protect and dominate her!
Enjoyable as ever
Another great read; suspense, love, action and some BDSM, I loved it all.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
Characters that’s developed in to realistic personalities and I feel like I know them.
Fantastic world building, the author has created something great here.
Happy ending for this couple too.
Can’t wait to start reading the next one….
You would think with a series as long running as this one, that the stories would eventually drop off, or became repetitive. Nope. From Sanctum With Love was great. The Masters and Mercenaries series shows no signs of slowing down.
I had no idea what to expect from Kai so I was so happy when it turned out that I loved him. Kori was perfect for him, and their story was full of emotion and heat.
Amazing book and amazing series! I love reading anything by this author!
Awesome series. I have read every book more than once
I love that Kai and Kori’s D/s dynamic is so dofferent from the rest of Sanctum. Their deep seated need to give and receive pain in order to find peace, joy and serenity in their lives both in the bedroom and out. Both of them have haunted pasts that color how they respond when things go sideways and inevitably their lives are thrown into chaos. Lexi Blake gives us a world of suspense, serial killers, Hollywood elite, undercover operations, desparation, hope and most of all the strength, resilience, importance and need of family.
