Best friends—maybe more—until addiction shatters everything.Reeling from professional failure, Andrew Harris needs a fresh start. When he moves back to Colorado to join a Denver law firm, he runs into Jamie, his childhood sweetheart. She is still the kind and faithful girl he remembers—not to mention beautiful and still single. With her by his side, Andrew is confident he can overcome the demons … he can overcome the demons that he tries to keep hidden.
Jamie Carson is thrown off balance when Andy resurfaces in her life. Though her faith in God has remained solid, even through her mother’s long illness and after her death, Jamie battles loneliness. Andy fills her days, whispering significance to her heart. But his rejection of the faith she thought they’d once shared, and his alarming drinking habit keep her heart from plunging into deep, murky waters. Or do they?
Andy pursues an intimacy Jamie knows she must guard against. But as the line between loyalty and love blurs, things get complicated—until a devastating blow breaks their relationship. For Jamie, one thing becomes clear: Andy needs a miracle, and she isn’t it.
Will Andrew allow the hand of grace to redeem his legacy of addiction, or will he and Jamie both remain casualties of heartbreak?

This book is…amazing. God knew I needed this book, and He put it in my hands. I learned so many truths reading about these flawed, struggling, intuitive characters…gracious! One thing in particular, the struggles that Andrew went through and his ultimate triumph spoke to me so deeply, especially one scene (spoiler) where Jamie’s friends get her to understand that she cannot be the reason Andy turns from his own destruction. I’ve been praying for years that a young man who is dear to me would find his true love…and turn from his wicked ways. But because of this amazingly written, deeply penetrating book, I am now altering the way I pray for him. I highly recommend this book and its author to anyone who enjoys deep contemplation that isn’t boring, repetitive, or unnecessary. I grew to love these characters as if they were real (although I admit, I did NOT like Andrew at first–more than once my inner voice yelled at Jamie – “Forget him! Walk away! Leave him to his own mess!” And yes, I did repent of those thoughts later, lol). This book kept me up reading late into the night, and I’d grab my kindle first thing in the morning before I even got out of bed, thinking about the scene I went to sleep on (only because my eyes refused to stay open), lol. Word of warning – if you delve into this book, don’t give up on Andy and quit reading. The first half, for me, was difficult to read. I felt frustrated and rolled my eyes at some of his thoughts and actions and it seemed that things would never change. The catalyst for his change…well, I didn’t see that one coming. I’m so glad I tied another knot and hung on through the bad times because the end chapters were so worth it. Bravo to this author, and she’s definitely going on my favorites list. Wow. Just…wow.
Blue Columbine is a story of a disastrous life redeemed and made whole by the saving grace of the Great Physician. The author is masterful at helping us see that we ourselves have no power over The Curse. She doesn’t have repetitive phrases or word pictures that distract. She lets us see inside the hearts of all her characters. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Great book and have recommended it to friends
Two young kids share a friendship. They are separated for years and come together at a friends wedding. Her strong faith and his struggles with alcoholism divide them. I enjoyed this book.

Having worked in rehab, I can attest to the truths of this story. This is a very powerful story of redemption!! I have seen the power of God and know this can happen through the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for such an inspirational testimony to God’s love!!
Jennifer Rodewald has a wonderful way with words. She is also not afraid to write about difficult subjects like the one in this book and does it in a compassionate way. A talented author I highly recommend!
