I kind of felt like I was on vacation as I read this series. It’s set in the Caribbean and had a fairly exciting plot line involving a hunt for blue diamonds. I liked both the main characters and glimpses into Jakes siblings. The ending was not as expected, which I really liked about it. It had a bit of predictability to it but also a twist, if that makes sense. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrators. Overall an enjoyable read.
An unexpected thief, a steamy romance, and family drama make this story a delight. Watching these two dance around each other is a delight. Add in the unexpected twists and turns of a classic heist, and all I can say is I wish there was more. Because I was not ready for this story to end.
This was a good book. Very suspenseful and captured the back and forth logic of deceit. Who can you truly trust when lies are flowing freely?
4.5 ‘What a Gem’ Stars!
What a thrilling and sexy conclusion to this story! After the cliffhanger from the first book, we are left wondering what will happen next and who is behind the mystery. But at the center is still the attraction and chemistry between Jake and Steph. They are not sure if they can truly trust each other which is very important to both of them. I appreciate that Ms Blakely writes strong, dynamic characters without resorting to angst to fuel the plot. This allows the story to be all about the thrill of uncovering clues, the excitement of the chase, the fun and sexy banter, and the intense and fiery passion. Blakely takes us on an exhilarating journey, revealing just enough clues and plot twists to keep you guessing and unable to stop turning the pages until the very end and possibly beyond?
The Sapphire Heist picks right up where The Sapphire Affair ended…and at this point none of us really know what’s going on or who we can trust! The mystery was really amped up a notch in this book- Ms. Blakely did a terrific job at keeping not only Jake and Steph on their toes, but the reader as well!
Jake and Steph work so well together as partners, even with the question of who can really be trusted hanging over their heads. Their personal relationship is still steaming up the pages, and you can really feel their connection. Now if they could only figure out who’s got the diamonds! Not everything is what it seems, not everyone is who you think they are, and just when you think you might know the answer another twist is thrown in to set you off course.
P.S. Jake is still just as irresistable!
The Sapphire Heist picks up exactly where the Sapphire Affair ended, with a whopping cliff-hanger! Jake and Steph finally gave in to temptation and now there are even more questions to be answered! Where are all these missing diamonds and what exactly is going on? Did Jake really take something that is Steph’s, besides her heart?
Once again we get to meet Steph Anderson, the goddess of the sea, scuba instructor extraordinaire. After an ex has driven her company almost into the ground, Steph is rebuilding her dive tour business with the help of her mother who has also been burned by a nasty divorce. Steph is a woman who knows what she wants but is struggling with letting her walls down and letting Jake in.
Jake Harlowe is an ex-military bounty hunter who is in the recovery business retrieving stolen items for clients. He is currently investigating Steph’s stepfather, Eli, to see if he is up to any immoral dealings with his new fiancé along with ten million dollars that seems to have disappeared into thin air. Jake has also been burned before and is trying to convince himself this is just an island tryst.
The pace of the book is awesome. Just when you think you know exactly what is going on and who done it, you are thrown for a loop and have to start putting your own clues together all over again. Who exactly stole the diamonds? Who is following Jake and Steph? How much does Eli really have to do with any of it?
The Sapphire Heist has plenty of hot, steamy sex between Jake and Steph but it also has a great story of two people coming together (in more ways than one) to work on a case and see how their relationship develops.
I truly enjoyed trying to figure out who, what, when, where, and why. I’ve got to tell you, I was truly surprised to find out exactly what happened! I’m usually pretty good at figuring out halfway through the book who done it but I didn’t see this coming a mile away! Jake and Steph do get their HEA which is great, but it’s not the usually ending to a Lauren Blakely story. Honestly, I kind of liked it 🙂
Even after I finished this book, I still cannot get the fire and intensity of Steph and Jake out of my head. They are absolute chemistry together. I love how they can talk so freely to each other about everything, including family. I also enjoyed the way family was a necessary part of the story which made both the characters extremely lovable.
Lauren Blakely is always my #1 one-click author and The Sapphire Heist is well worth it! This was a perfect story to end my 2016 summer!
Great read!
The second installment of this story did not disappoint. The mystery, intrigue and sexy times keep you engaged. The emotional aspects keep it real. Really enjoyed this book.
