Nicola Cameron has a great action-packed fated mate book with Trickster. I really love this one, right up my alley with MM and Shifters but the connection in this one really is what makes it memorable. My favorite quote from this book is “ The Dark side really does have cookies.” I loved how this line is used and makes me laugh just typing it up here.
Delaney or Del he is a coyote shifter. He works in a shifter owned business and loves his job. His alpha is a great hardworking fair leader life is good. Then he scents his mate. Del has always dated women, so he is pretty shocked to find out his mate is a guy. But not only that but a human. In this world, it is not forbidden to be with a human but it is a lot for anyone to adjust to having a fated mate. So Del does his best not to jump the guy. That is till Mark introduces himself. Then all bets were off.
Mark is very good at his job. He deals with security countermeasures. He is straight and has a frosty girlfriend. He is a brave, strong, and smart man perfect for Del.
I liked how this story unfolded. I would love to read more about coyote shifters and those they love. This could be a start to a great series, I hope there is one.
Five Shooting Stars
An unexpected mate brings Delaney to his knees and despite all that stands in the way of their mating, he’s determined to make Mark his in the most loving way possible. What I loved about this story was that it was moved along by passion, but it was the forbearance of the lust in favor of the solid connections, the creation of comfort, and the honesty Delaney was determined to have before he gave in that won me over. Everything happened quickly but it felt more natural than so many other insta-love shifter stories I’ve read.
I appreciated the villain being a predictable mystery and not overly complicated. Another awesome point of the story is when Mark uses his brain to find a solution without resorting to making amends and hoping for forgiveness after giving in to coercion. Using his resources and not going it alone because of threats was admirable and it showed true strength to me. Mark and Delaney made a great pair with their sweet moments, their intelligence, their chemistry, and their commitment. This was a surprisingly fantastic read.
** 3.75 stars **
This was short entertaining story. The characters were likable, there was fair amount of steam and humor to make me happy and content. I must admit that I liked Delaney more than Mark. He was funny, vivacious and the sweetest shifter. Mark seemed a bit unsure in himself but in the end I liked his loyalty and ingenuity to solve the problem when he was put in a situation where he had to make tough choices.
This is GFY shifter romance with insta-lust. The relationship was a work in the progress by the time the book ended. I am glad to say that there were no declarations of undying love, it seemed that the story would continue after the book was over. I like that they took the time to get to know each other. The villain was pretty obvious but I liked reading about it anyway. This was a cute shifter story, and I recommend it! Copy received for my honest and unbiased review
Trickster by Nicola Cameron is a shifter Mm romance. I truly enjoyed the story and characters. I liked the interactions between the two men, one a shifter knowledgeable of finding your mate, the other a human, previously straight, man having to adjust to a new reality. The story is fun – with a little taste of sngst/drama, sweetness and a whole lot of sexy.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
