Description:
This military romantic suspense ebook is about a second chance for a tortured hero who loves his woman. The Men of Mercy series is centered around a small town and a Special Forces group made up of hot alpha men and determined women.
Author Interview:
Q: You write Military Romantic Suspense, and though it seems like the Navy SEAL romance books are the most popular, even Black Operations. So why did you choose Special Forces?
A: My husband is active Army and a veteran. The top tier of the Navy is the SEAL Teams. The top tier of the Army is the Special Forces.
I think the SF deserves just as much recognition as the SEALs…they are like the Ghostwalkers of the Army.
Plus- I don’t know jack about swimming.
Q: You based your military romance series on a Special Forces team – Task Force Scorpion. Why did you also decide to put them in a small town setting?
A: Just because you come from a small town, doesn’t mean you can’t be hard core. I grew up in a small town. The men there can be bad boy alpha males just as easily as the men from big cities ☺
Plus, I grew up reading small town romance. I think readers love the feeling of belonging to a community, getting to know all the quirky folks who live there and falling in love with not only the hero but also their friends and family.
Q: You’re books are often about second chances – big secrets. Why?
A: Who doesn’t root for a hero dying for a second chance? Yes, he probably screwed up big time in the past, but how much sweeter is the love between the hero and heroine when they show forgiveness?
As far as big secrets – they’re just fun. Secret babies, corrupt politicians, love triangles…
Believe me – it ALL happens in a small town romance and real life.
Q: Why write Military Romance?
First off, I am kin to and am friends with a lot of military men, and they’re all sweet and well mannered and love their country. But a lot of them are badass, too. Which is what we want when someone’s fighting for our country – 🙂 – and in a hot romantic suspense : A fearless bad boy alpha male who fights for his country and his woman.

This was an excellent story. Amy is trying to move on with her husband dead. She was in love with Ranger when they were kids, but when she saw him kissing the town slut and he left for the service she married his best friend Shane who was supposedly killed overseas. She’s having a hard time with her bitchy mother-in-law and trying to fight her love for Ranger. There is a lot of action, danger, steamy sex and betrayal in this book. Fantastic read.
Truth is needed

This is book 2 in the Men of Mercy series and it’s about Ranger James and Amy Carter.
They’ve been attracted to each other since high school but once she witnessed him kiss another, she got drunk, slept with his best friend Shane and ended up pregnant and married. Shane was declared dead by the military eight months ago and Ranger has been there for her every minute of every day since. Now she needs Rangers help. Is it right to want her deceased husbands best friend? Is this her chance to be with the one man she’s wanted since high school?
HUGE plot twist! This is an action packed, exciting read with a sexy soldier and the woman he’s been in love with forever. It’s shocking, heartbreaking and beautiful! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
So I went down a hole of Lindsay Cross’ books, I have read Rebellious River and Redemption River and I loved them, they were so good. I had very high expectations of this series and now and wow this exceeded expectations. I was stunned this book blew me out the water. So many emotions ran through me when reading this book and wow. It was such a fantastic and emotional read!
I really liked Amy’s character, at times she did annoy me with her ‘I can’t be with Ranger’ but I understood those feelings she had. Especially when you meet her horrible mother in law. I liked the progress we see Amy going through from accepting the loss of her husband and then feeling like she can be happy with Ranger and her baby. I loved that. Amy is also very fiery!
Ranger, he was the best, I think he’s my favourite character out of the Men of Mercy series so far. He was just dreamy and so protective and just really loyal to Amy, even when she didn’t want him there he was always willing to be there. I loved how willing he was to help look after baby Chloe. It was just all so cute!
I was so glad that Amy had Cher, Evie, Hunter and Ranger by her side because her mother in law Mavis was absolutely disgusting within the first two chapters I was fuming. The comments she made to Amy were beyond disgusting like if that was me I would have smacked her so hard. She made Amy feel terrible for trying to move on with her life and be happy. It just felt like Mavis didn’t want that for her and just wanted to destroy Amy every time she built herself up.
There are like two mavis twists in this story and I did not see them coming. My thought through these twists was what the fuck? I had to reread the last twist about 5 times because I just couldn’t believe it. Lindsay managed to write it perfectly and honestly, I think it is quite possibly the best thing I’ve read. I can’t go into what I wanted to about one of these twists because it ruins the book so if you read this story inbox me so I can talk about this twist. It still eats me up inside like it was an amazing twist, like my permanent mood for this is what the fuck?
I loved this book so much
Resurrection River, the second book in the Men Of Mercy Series, was an okay read for me. I really expected to love it more then the first book, but one thing really ruined my enjoyment of reading this book. That would be the heroine Amy. Lord in heaven did she drive me crazy. The plot was good. Tons of suspense, and a plot twist that I never saw coming. A twist so big, I was truly shocked, and that doesn’t happen much to me. I called my husband and was like OMG (I’m always telling him about the books I am reading) because I was so shocked I had to share it with someone. I loved the Hero Ranger. Absolutely adored him. Ranger was the sweetest, most understanding, romantic, strong, and sexy hero. He was like perfect!
I do wish there would have been a little more detail on Ranger and Amy’s past relationship. The book says they dated in high school, but I feel like important parts of their relationship are missing from the book. That is just a small thing and I could totally over look that, but what I couldn’t over look was my hate for Amy. OMG I’m gonna rant a little here….. Amy, she is one of those fictional characters that have me yelling at my kindle like a crazy person, cussing and threatening bodily harm . Amy had no backbone, none ,zero, zip, zilch, nada. She was a huge coward, and that is one of my biggest pet peeves (next to cheating) that is a total killjoy when I am reading. She let her ex mother n law Mavis (her husband Shane you find out is dead in book one) treat her like poop, like total crap. Mavis tells her how she is the reason her son died, that she is a slut, a hussy, that her baby granddaughter isn’t even really her son’s because Amy such a slut. OMG and she just takes it. Lets that woman walk all over her and treat her like trash(which she also calls her many times).
Top that off with the fact that Amy was wishy washy with Ranger pushing him away and being a big jerk to him at times. I can’t think of one thing I like about her, not one.
I felt bad for Ranger. I can’t tell you how many times they kissed, made love, or he told her he loved her, and wanted forever, and she would push him away, tell him to leave, and that she can’t do this. Ripped his heart out all because she was a chicken that was too scared of Mavis talking trash on her and what people would think. Really? Some of the things she said to Ranger were so hateful that if I was him I would have walked away and found someone better.
Amy pushed him away so much that I didn’t want them to be together. I didn’t feel the love and I wanted him to tell her to kiss off. Instead he pretty much begs the whole book for her to give them a chance. I am all for a man knowing what he wants and fighting for it. That is sexy, but she was so cold and mean it was like she turned this sexy strong man into a love sick puppy begging for some time.
Ranger was such a great and sweet guy he could do so much better. Even with me hating Amy as much as I did, and God knows I did, Ranger, the story and all the other characters saved this book for me. I really liked getting to see Hunter and Evie again, and there are few others I would like to get their own books like bo and Merc. Even though I didn’t love this book, I like Lindsay Cross’s writing style and plan on reading more of her books.
