Tricia and Angelica leave Booktown behind for a pleasure cruise, but they’re going to need their life jackets because a murderer has also booked passage—in Lorna Barrett’s New York Times bestselling series. While her bookstore, Haven’t Got a Clue, is rebuilt following a devastating fire, Tricia Miles and her sister, Angelica, decide to book a cruise for some much needed R&R. Naturally they … needed R&R. Naturally they choose a Mystery Lovers cruise, where they can ponder whodunnit in Adirondack chairs while sipping colorful drinks and soaking up some rays.
But the fun is cut short when a fellow passenger is murdered for real. Is the killer a famous mystery author, one of his fans, or a member of the ship’s crew? As Tricia tries to find the killer before they reach port, she may be cruising for a bruising…

This is the first book in the series that I have recently read. Enjoyed it so much I purchased the rest of the series to read starting back at book one. Pleasant read!
I’m a huge fan of this series and loved this book.
Title Wave, Lorna Barrett’s 10th book in the Booktown Series, takes the characters out to sea, away from the friendly (but deadly) confines of of Stoneham, New Hampshire. Though Tricia Miles has left the town, she still manages to find murder and mayhem on the cruise ship. Another enjoyable read for cozy mystery fans…
Tricia and Angelica and family are on a well needed vacation. A wonderful mystery theme cruise aboard the Celtic Lady. Since we all know Tricia’s known as the town jinx what could go wrong on a ship away from STone. A murder out at sea with plenty of suspects, twists and turns to keep you guessing.
Family dynamics that bring you to understand Tricia and Angelica better.
Title Wave is another wonderfully written Booktown Mysteries by Lorna Barrett.
Looking forward to the next one and wishing I did not have to wait a year to find out what happens next in this excellent series!
A Booktown Mystery series is one of my favorites. This one involves a murder on a luxury cruise and Tricia gets involved in another “who-done-it”. The story quickly absorbs you into the lives of Tricia and her sister Angelica. I recommend this entire series!
I liked the fact that it was hard to figure out who the antagonist was.
Fun story on a cruise ship where the main character solves a murder mystery. Easy and fast read.
Not as good as others by this author; tedious.
The jaunt into the Booktown Mystery Series takes the beloved characters on a cruise. Picking up whee the last one left off, getting away is needed after a loss. You get to set sail on a book themed cruise, and solve a mystery while you’re at it, this is one of my favorite cozy mystery series!
Slow moving and a bit repetitious. Though the ending was a surprise, it was also unrealistic. The victim was so unlikable, it was difficult to care who killed her.
I have read a number of books by this author and I have enjoyed them all. She is a good writer with good characters and good plots.
Fun read with a bit of mystery.
Love her stuff. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Kept me guessing… fun cozy!
This was a new author to me, I enjoyed the characters so much I read the entire series in a week. The relationship between the sisters in both entertaining and very realistic and I enjoy the plot twists.
I enjoyed the book, don’t get me wrong. The story was a bout 2 sisters and some of the town people where they live that went on a cruise. The adventerous sister was a cookbook author and loved to have fun. The other sister was more of the quite one and was an owner of a bookstore where they lived.
Of course Mary finds a dead body of an author that no one liked. The cruise ship security people did not seem interested in finding the killer so it was up to Mary to figure it out.
There was a not so funny tragedy along the way. But in my opinion was when they reached Bermuda and meeting up with their parents and in the long run both sisters realized that their mother did not care for Mary but Angelica the oldest sister. Mom was always after Mary and the way that she ate. She couldn’t even enjoy the way that she ate at her birthday when she was much younger.
Once back on the ship and all were heading home did Mary figure out who the murderer was. It was not a bad book but there times that I wanted to give up on the book but made myself finish it.
I always watch for the next book in this series. It’s great fun.
I always enjoy the Tricia/Angelica books…have read them all
Although I love the little book themed village of Stoneham, it was nice to see Tricia and Angelica finally getting to take a vacation and have some time to relax. If I were to take another cruise this is the type of cruise I would enjoy, a cruise dedicated to books and reading. Although I wouldn’t want a dead body to turn up on my ship. This book is a little slower paced than previous books but most everything takes place on a ship, there are only so many place you can go or people to see on a small ship. I didn’t mind the slower pace because in this book we get a little more insight of why Tricia is the way she is when it comes to food, exercise, and relationships.
Author Lorna Barrett doesn’t disappoint with this book she keeps you guessing until the end of the book even with a limited cast of characters. This book is slower paced but still has a well told storyline. Characters are well developed; this book hints that we may see more character development for especially Tricia in future books. True to cozy mystery form no graphic violence, sex, or bad language. I would definitely recommend this book and look forward to the next.
This book can be read as a stand alone although some of the references about a few characters would be better understood if you read the earlier books.
In this 10th installment of Lorna Barrett’s series Tricia and her sister Angelica have made reservations on a book cruise for some much needed time off. Tricia, known as the town jinx, truly needs the time away and looks forward to many free hours with a book in her hand. While on the cruise Tricia stumbles across the body of author E. M. Barstow and wonders why these things keep happening to her, is she really a jinx? The author has plenty of enemies but in the eyes of cruise security she killed herself. Is it suicide or is it murder, delve in and see if you can find out the truth. I love Lorna’s way with writing diverse characters and the continuation into Tricia’s complicated family relationships. I look forward to reading more about this complex group of personalities.
