It’s all fun and games…until someone’s heart is broken. They’re not kids anymore, but Milo Caro is certain that Colton Mathews will only see her as his best friend’s little sister for the rest of their lives. After all, he made that clear the night before she left for college. But four years later, her brother is getting married and Colt’s the best man—and guess who is the best man’s last-minute … last-minute date?
Milo vows to use the wedding to either claim the smoldering firefighter’s heart or douse this torch for good. When Max—her best friend from college, who may be carrying a torch of his own—crashes the party, they devise a plan to make Colt see what he’s missing. But after Colt catches on, he decides to cook up his own revenge.
Now it’s personal. Colt and Milo are at war, and between Max’s questionable acting methods, an unfortunate trip to jail, and a maniacal fiancée, what could possibly go right?

I.Loved.This.Book.
It was funny and silly and goofy and sweet and over the top, it made me laugh out loud multiple times, and it made me happy. Sometimes that is all I want from a book, to have a smile on my face when I read the last page. Sometimes you just want to escape in a read, to not have to think about anything, to not have to worry about drama and angst and having your heart in your throat.
My gosh, so many hysterical moments in this book! I loved every character, Rachel Van Dyken
brought them all to life so amazingly well, I wanted to be a part of this book. Milo and Colton, I can’t even handle how cute they both were…I love friends-to-lovers/brother’s friend stories and this one was just perfect. I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t want it to end!
I can’t wait to dive into Max’s book. And I’m so excited to see that Rachel posted today there will be more books to come!!!
This is the first novel by Rachel I have read and wow!! My blog partner has read everything by her and loves her to death and has been waiting for me to dive in and now we are both fans. I was a fan of hers before since she is a sweetheart and have met her a few times but now I am also a huge fan of her work!
Jason, Colton and Milo have been lifetime friends. Jason and Colton are the best of friends and then there was Milo, the little sister that joined the team and knew she loved Colton since he was slaying dragons and saving her from the castle as a little girl. When she grew into a teenager she knew she would always be seen as “the little sister” but she so wanted more…but Colton wouldn’t go there and she found that out the hard way, with rejection. Even though, their friendship was changing, it was never ruined. They would always be there for each other even if Milo felt awkward. And now she was going home for Jason’s wedding to Satan…Let the fun begin!!!
Milo was nervous to see Colton and his sexy as sin body isn’t helping. She wants him bad and needs to get over it. She has be pining for him for years and needs to move on but first she needs a kiss from him. When she does get what she wants, she is confused and upset so her mind goes to someone else…one lie turns into another and the weekend gets even more interesting because now her best friend Max was going to be by her side. It was not planned and thanks to his theatre camp days, he is over the top hilarious and his personality and great timing take over. I love him.
Colton doesn’t know what is going on with Milo but he does know that things just aren’t right. He has loved Milo forever but doesn’t want to ruin his friendship with Jason or Milo. He cares too much for her but he can’t just sit and watch from the sidelines anymore. He has to figure out what to do before it’s too late, if it’s not already. He can’t miss another opportunity to be with the one he can’t stop thinking about, dreaming about and has wanted forever…
Ok. Back to the chaos. There is so much miscommunication and hilariousness throughout the whole weekend surrounding the wedding from hell. Nobody likes the bride but they tolerate her for Jason. And the craziness doesn’t end with what is going on with Colton, Milo and Max. You will also met Max’s brother and Milo’s Frisky Grandma (I am cracking up just thinking about her).
Now…back to the love story. Can Milo get Colton to see her as more than Jason’s little sister, if he hadn’t already? Will Jason marry Satan and have little satan babies? Will Max go back to theatre camp?
Sorry for the long ass review but I am all over the place with this one. I loved it that much. I love to laugh and slapstick comedy gets me every time. It was hilarious and I fell for the characters. Hard. They were all amazing and witty. From Milo and her klutziness to Max and his most awesome timing to Jason and his painful weekend. I am still laughing…I can’t wait for the next book!
Quotes:
Seriously. His smile was one that made girls want the condom to break.
“I’m not that drunk,” she pouted.
“What’s six times seven?”
“Unfair!” She laughed. “You know sevens were the hardest for me to learn.”
“That’s what I thought—for you—always hard.”
~ I have to throw in a Grandma Quote:
“Oh, you’re so very big and strong, you naughty boy, playing a game of cat and mouse! Well, this kitty’s all riled up and ready to play!”
Oh my goodness. I wanted something lighter and this was recommended to me. I laughed so hard I almost fell off the bed. RVD is such a diverse writer and I have fallen in love with every world of hers I’ve read and this was no different. What a great way to end 2020 – laughing until I couldn’t see through the tears. Every time I caught my breath, Max said something else insane or poor Jason had something happen to him. The story of this book is also a good and interesting one full of twists and turns, but if you need a lighter, laugh-out-loud funny book, this is it! On to Max’s book.
*5 Stars*
Ok, so part of me is like, what the hell did I just read? The other part was too busy laughing out loud to care. This was a really enjoyable rom com from RVD. The shenanigans that happened in this book were unbelievable at times, yet not too over the top. It was a lot of fun to read this and see how things would play out.
Friends to lovers and brothers best friend books are also fave tropes of mine, so I was guaranteed to like this before I even started. There were so many fun characters in this, and I can’t wait to read more of this series and see what happens to them.
This story was absolute insanity! All the characters were eccentric and just overall crazy.
If you need a a book that has no angst, only fun wacky humor, this is the book you need to pick up.
Brother’s Best Friend love story with such a bizarre hilarious twist.
Milo grew up as “one of the guys”, hanging out with her brother Jason and his best friend Colton.
Of course as Colton and Milo grow up together there is a forbidden attraction.
Milo is not only confused but frustrated with trying to figure out how Colton feels.
How can she tell when she is getting so many mixed signals. Add Max, Milo’s best friend and my favorite character, and there was no telling what will come about.
There were a couple editing issues but really not a huge difference that would effect my rating of this.
This was loads of chaotic fun and laughter, I am glad I was referred to this Author and this definitely won’t be my last of her books.
Juvenile, hysterical, romance.
Yeah, the characters are oversexed kids, but when you are laughing in the middle of a pandemic…it’s a Good Thing!
Super funny brother’s best friend romance. I really wanted Milo and Colton to be together because they clearly had a thing for each other for way too long. So for the most part this book was entertaining. On the other hand all the characters were over the top and complete idiots. They were overly dramatic and not one of them acted like real adults. Everyone was very immature. In the end it I found to be very entertaining. I think that has mostly to do with Max’s character. He was so funny with all his shenanigans.
Such a funny story!
Milo has been in love with her brother’s best fiend most of her life. She is getting ready to go home to her brothers wedding and has no date which means she gets to be Colton’s date. Will she finally get to tell him how she feels and finally get with him?
Colton has been in love with Milo his whole life now with his best friend getting married he has a chance to have her as his date for the weekend and finally tell her how he feels. He knows that he could risk loosing her but he can’t take not being able to be with her any more.
In a strange turn of events and a whole lot of laughs this crazy weeding weekend goes topsy turvie. So much happens.
This book was cute funny and a little sexy. I can’t wait to read the next one.
At first I thought there would be a love triangle so I went into this book hesitantly once I figured out a love triangle was out of the question I enjoyed this book tremendously. Colton he is not shy there are quite a few scenes where the boy either is letting it hang loose, hang all out or pressing signup against a car window, “he’s facing the window and leaning against the car and I swear, Max, the whole front of his body is pressed up against . . . my car.” He gets jealous quite a bit and his reactions sure are funny, “why haven’t I heard of Max?” Colton’s gaze narrowed. “ Is he a good guy? Does he still call you? Say the word and I’ll kill him if he touches you, Milo.” Colton I love how in his mind he describes his state of boxer-less clad body, “I wasn’t wearing boxers. I wasn’t wearing a damn stitch underneath the jeans. I was free-balling.” Milo the girl is a klutz things happen around her and Colton he doesn’t mind a few certain aspects of his woman, “Milo was an animal. I’d be proudly sporting bruises come morning. I couldn’t wait to point at my arm and smirk at Jason. Ah yes, his good eye was going to get its fill.” I loved this book and it’s other characters along with the main ones I’m hoping Max, and Jason and Reid get their stories told.
Over the top hilarity and everything gone wrong, with a little love
I had no idea Grandma Nadine has evil counterparts, but believe me Reid will never be the same.
Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. This book is over the top crazy, fun, and “just how is that possible” randomness.
I am a huge Rachel Van Dyken fan and I have to say this is probably the most ridiculously funny book she written.
So funny, you laugh till you cry. The Consequence of Loving Colton by Rachel Van Dyken is the first book of a 4 book series that you just can’t put down.
The review is up at http://desireforlit.com/2018/04/09/consequence-of-loving-colton-rachel-van-dyken/
I highly recommend the entire series. They were so funny and I want my own Max, he’s just so over the top, mad genius you just have to love him.

The Consequences of Loving Colton
Story starts out when Milo and Colton are friends because of her brother is his best friend. She has a crush on him and he does kiss her one time in the pool.
Years later she’s graduating from college and they are attending her brother Jason’s wedding-in their back yard so everybody has jobs to do to make this a happy occasion.
Milo has a boyfirned that is gay but he doesn’t come acorss that way. There’s always been a big competition between Colton and Milo.
Like all the chaos with everybody and how things happen from events in the past. Love how they ousted the bride.
Alternating chapters from the main characters so you get to hear each of their side at the same time.
Anything that could go wrong did and then a whole bunch more-so comical at times.
