Richard Hill, the Earl of Windermere, might desperately require a wife and heir, but thoughts of duty fly from his mind when he rescues Esme, Lady Heathcote, from the embarrassment of a failed affair. They usually never agree about anything. He’s never even kissed the vexing widow. But when the opportunity arises to whisk her away for a no-strings-attached rendezvous, Richard can’t imagine a … can’t imagine a better way to spend a moonlit evening.
Esme has never lacked for admirers, but having Lord Windermere’s company goes a long way to ease the pain of losing her suddenly betrothed lover. And when Windermere suggests an affair, Esme is intrigued by the blazing-hot connection even while knowing their relationship has no future beyond his house party.
But as with any temptation, it’s a bargain they’ll soon regret.
A hot regency romance novel.

Not my usual choice of novels as most English based historical stories involving and focused on the ton seem rather boring in my opinion. However, surprisingly did find it to be a rather enjoyable and entertaining read. Perhaps it is due to this specific author’s ability to make a difference in holding a reader’s interest.
Great historic romance
It was a wonderful story!
I liked that the heroine was sassy, older, not an 18 yr old inexperienced twit. I didn’t like all the sexuality in it.
Good historical novel with an original plot. Loved the characters.
Really into this one, hard to put it down
Good story with good characters. I enjoyed the self-confidence of the heroine.
Enjoyed
What a good book!!!! It is so well written, and the characters are wonderful.
I loved the unusual plot . Thank you for switching it up a bit.
Well worth a second and third re-read in the future.
Love Heather Boyd’s books! Always heartwarming!
The plot was a device around which to write a series of graphic sex scenes, so if that’s your preference in books you’ll probably like this one.
I enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down.
Esme needed someone to prove his love to her. Would Richard be the one?
For a change it was good to have main characters older than two and twenty and not virginal. This story was very enjoyable and witty. This author has a writing skill of putting the reader in the story, making the reader feel part of the story. The reader feels what the characters feel. Even though a predictable ending the story was still entertaining and oh!! so sensual and steamy. A story of hope and wishful thinking. Great atmosphere of the period. A story to read and re-read. This author is one of my top ten.
Excellent book. An interesting storyline featuring characters with fantastic chemistry and loads of steamy scenes. I also really liked the epilogue
Wonderful mature main characters – Esme and Richard. Most of the story takes place at a house party with the usual intrigues. Somewhat discreetly, Esme and Richard explore the new sensual relationship between them. Well executed story.
The epilogue was one of the cutest I’ve ever read.
