The moment those words come out of the doctor’s mouth, I feel sick.
So sick.
The life I have dreamed of…obliterated.
And Brody.
God, Brody.
How will he look at me?
How can he accept me?
He’ll know what I hid from him.
He’ll know everything.
It’s over. It’s completely over. I can’t tell him “I love Us” anymore.
Even though I do.
Even though it will kill me.
I can’t tell him anything. Everything … kill me.
I can’t tell him anything. Everything is ruined. Pummeled. Broken.
I have to leave him. I have to give up us.
I know he’ll come after me.
I just have to do something to make him not want to.

This book was ANGSTY. Wow.
I’m not much of an angst reader but the author does a good job with it. Right from the beginning you don’t know how it will all play out. Especially if you read Becoming Us and that epilogue.
I was nervous and anxious with how and if a happily ever after could occur. Who was I fooling though? I ended up enjoying it and of course there was a beautiful happily ever after.
From reading about Finley and Brody in Becoming Us they grow not only as people but as a couple. They are able to get through these major issues throughout their relationship. They aren’t just bumps in the road, it’s hills! But they do it. Finely has her life longs best friend Leslie and her new friends Frank, Liam, Julie, & Mitch to help her through this time and changes in her life.
I’m not going to lie, I was concerned with how Brody and Fin would be able to be brought back together but it was a great ending. I’m hoping to get a slight peek further into their lives in the next book in this series.
If you’re into reading angst, and second chance romances, this is a good one to pick up. Can be read without reading Becoming Us first but I recommend doing so
The characters in this book are absolutely amazing, whether they be main or supporting. The writing is also superb, to a point where we feel like we are right there with Finley making very difficult life choices. Definitely had some sad parts, but sexy ones as well! Shattered and glued back together
I think it’s the mark of a good writer to be able to write a character that I don’t agree with or sympathize with, and still make me love the book. It was hard to read about Finley’s decision making process, I may have yelled a little. But by now I trust Amy Daws to create a story that’s heartfelt, thoughtful, and sexy. I loved the care that was taken when writing Brody and Finley. We know them, love them; and I loved their fierce and funny love for each other. Watching them first meet in college (Becoming Us) and now trying to navigate adulthood while realizing all their dreams may never come true. There is a very serious thread that runs throughout this book, but the sweet and funny secondary characters kept this from being too maudlin. I’m not going to lie, after reading the epilogue of Becoming Us, I was afraid to read this one. But the author more than made up for the anguish by writing an amazing finale to Brody and Finley’s love story. I loved this book!
I had to start book 2 immediately after finishing book 1. Finley and Brody’s story absolutely wrecked me but the end out me all back together again. There is so much emotion packed into this story!
*4 Stars*
Well after that cliff-hanger of an ending in Becoming Us, I HAD to continue the story and find out what was going on with Finley and what would happen with her and Brody.
What a ride this one was. Amy sure does angst well and I was antsy throughout whole book, waiting for Finley to get her act together. I really wanted to smack her upside the head sometimes because I just wanted her to TALK to Brody.
I enjoyed the London aspects of this book, and I highly enjoyed Frank and Leslie and their antics. Some of the other secondary characters were fun too, but those two stole the show for me as Fins friends in this one.
The issues dealt with in this storyline were not ones that I took lightly, and while yes, I did get very frustrated with Fin, I also understood that this was her way of dealing with what she was going through. Not to mention that then some things that happen towards the end, added even more to the heartbreaking times of the book. And if you’ve read the book, and you know Amy Daws story, you will understand why I kept thinking about her personally, as well as the fictional story itself in this one.
Huge props to Amy for writing this heartfelt and angsty story, another great instalment in the London Lovers series. Oh, and bring on book 3, because helloooooo Leslie and Theo!
Wow! What an emotional rollercoaster. I cried ugly tears while reading this book. Amy Daws you wrecked me with this story. When Finley finds out she can’t give Brody the one thing he desires, she does the only thing she can think to do and that is remove herself from his life and destroy his heart in the process. This book hit so close to home for me and I know that it is one book that I will read again and again. The subjects that Amy Daws touches in this book are some of the hardest and she did them so very well. This is one MUST READ book for anyone that loves an amazing love story. Amy Daws you so freaking AMAZING!!!!
When I read ‘Becoming Us’ I couldn’t wait to start this one I wanted to see what would happen to the characters I so enjoyed in the prequel. But after reading it I wish that I had left well enough alone and skip this book and went onto the next book. Don’t get wrong this book is well written and moving but it also turned me off of the character Finley to the point that if Brody wasn’t so head over heels in love with her I would have cheered if he had move on. The problem with Finley is she can’t get out of her own way to see how much she is full of bull $hit, she projects her fears and insecurities onto Brody believing that if he knew the truth he would leave her. She basically martyrs herself into believing she’s doing the right thing for him even though what she’s really doing is causing him a great deal of pain and making him think that he did something wrong that cause her to break up and leave him.
Now I know what you are thinking if I feel this strongly about the character and how she acted why the three star rating. I gave it three stars for the characters like her sister Candace who calls her out on her bull $hit and for Brody for sticking up for himself and making some great points to Finley. I wouldn’t put this book on my re-read list but for those who enjoy angst this is a book I would recommend.
