I’ll just say it right away. I was in awe with this book, and ultimately this series (which I do recommend reading in order so you get the WHOLE picture!). Crystal painted a world with her words that was filled with hope, love, sadness, real life, trials, and friendship. I cried many times, laughed, and felt the love being expressed in the pages with my own heart. She made so many full circle moments where the characters came to realize what God’s plan had been for them all along, even though they couldn’t see it through their journeys. The symbolism of the events and parallel path with what Emma’s father had tried to teach her and what God tries to teach all of us was enlightening. It made me feel like I was Emma and was being taught all of the lessons within the pages of the book! The writing within this book (and series) was so enlightening and inspiring that it was at a level that many other authors never reach. Even though this book was set in college and I am double that age, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Now onto more about the actual story. Emma and Riley are engaged, but he is in Nashville recording an album and being pressured to go on tour, while Emma is still in college. There are many tests for their relationship, but the God-given love that they share is willing to sacrifice for each other. I don’t want to give any spoilers away, but believe me when I say this book was also about mending broken bridges from both Emma and Riley’s past. Beautiful moments, yet very difficult. At the end, I was brought to tears by the father/daughter song. Oh my gosh! Seriously, I don’t know how Crystal came up with this whole series storyline, but it is one that I will be thinking about for a long time. I received a copy of this book from the author, but all opinions in this review are my own. Do yourself a favor and grab book #1 of this series and continue through all 3. You’ll be glad you did!
This is the last book in a powerful series of books written by Crystal Walton. These books were set in Portland, Oregon at Reed College where the main characters were completing their college years.
From the very first book to the end of this one I was captured and taken on a journey where life had its good times and very hard times. It was real and heart touching.
There’s a quote I really like in it that sums up the story very well.
“I might not have known how life would write the remainder of our story, but this much I knew without question. The song in our hearts would lead the way.”
So beautiful!
The author truly has a way of bringing emotions and feelings into her writing. You’ll ache, laugh, cry, smile, snort, and do happy dances all while enjoying a fantastic story!
I’ve always loved reading books that draw out emotions and feelings and give me a life lesson to walk away with.
Crystal Walton has written a beautiful story dealing with many things we all deal with. The fear of losing someone we love, the fear of rejection, safety, and never being enough. But she also shows a deep love of family, friends, and the passion to make a difference in others’ lives. She wraps this all up together with a sweet story of hope, trust, and faith. She blends these stories so smoothly. This book flows in such a way that you really feel you know these characters and understand what they are struggling with.
This book and series do that, and I highly recommend you pick it up.
I was given this book by the author which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The past has included special memories, sometimes heartbreaking events and other times wonderful moments. Emma and Riley have come a long way in their relationship. In this story, the act of forgiveness, the ability to trust and have patience are all found. Author Crystal Walton draws the reader in from the first page. Great story. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
