Isabelle Cooper’s in big, big trouble. Her flower shop? Well, it was just bought by the man she’s had a crush on forever. Her new boss, Devon Donovan, is a tall glass of melt-in-your-mouth hotness. I adored this book. I fell in love with the Donovan brothers right from the beginning. They had a hard life growing up. Their father was abusive to all three of the boys and their mother. Devon had it the hardest as he was the oldest and tried to shield his younger brothers. Isabelle is an only child of loving parents so her childhood was perfect. She got her MBA so she could work with her parents at their florist shop. Unfortunately for her, her parents sold out to Donovan, Inc. They wanted to retire to Myrtle Beach and this was the only way. A stipulation was put in place that Isabelle would have a place to work. Devon decides to take Izzy out of the shop and have her help him manage the Donovan family fortune.
What ensues was a tender love story that has a boat-load of heartbreak for Isabelle. I adored Isabelle. She is a strong woman but with fairy tale glasses on. Why shouldn’t she though. She worked with beautiful flowers with her parents and created wonderful dreams for others. She has had a crush on Devon for since she was fourteen. Devon though is only interested in an affair. The author did a fantastic job of weaving a these two souls together in a story that enchanted me.
I adored the dual POV format. Getting into the character’s mind and seeing their thought process helped me to fully identify and understand them. Devon’s side and his history really would have been hard for me to understand without seeing his POV. I have never been exposed to anything like that so having the dual POV was enlightening and a must as far as I am concerned.
I was sad to see the end of the book but the author dropped a wonderful bomb for readers in the Epilogue. I highly recommend this story to anyone over 18. Even though this could be read as a stand alone, I would recommend reading the other stories as well. You will fall in love with the entire family and their individual journey to their HEAs. All of the brothers appear in all of the stories and the prior female protagonists do appear in the following stories.
Devon Donovan has been the starring attraction in Isabelle Cooper’s dreams for years, only problem is that he is not interested in anything resembling a relationship. So, when the hunky lawyer purchases her family’s flower shop, and he offers her a job, she jumps at the chance and is delighted to be working in close proximity with him. She figures now maybe she’ll be able to catch his eye…
Devon Donovan keeps himself busy enough with work to never have time for dating, he is self proclaimed workaholic, with major relationship fears. He has known all along that Isabelle has had a crush on him, and has always played it off as nothing but a harmless crush, so when he offers her a job he figures it’ll be no big deal being her boss, and not crossing any lines. Only problem is the tomboy he once knew has grown into quite a beautiful and alluring woman, and she is not afraid of crossing any lines to get what she wants…
This was a very entertaining first read for me, the story line grabbed my attention right from the start and had me laughing and smiling the whole way through. Isabelle and Devon had undeniable chemistry right from the start, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story, an also getting glimpses into the lives of the other family members. With this being the third installment in the series I was concerned I’d have trouble following along, since I haven’t read the other installments, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that wasn’t the case at all, if anything it made me want to make a return visit to the series!!
If you like second chance romance stories, this is definitely one you should add to your reading list, it will leave you with a happy heart and a smile on your face!
