Welcome to the small town of Sugar Creek, where a sweet romance is in the air this Christmas. Tis the season for a second chance at love and a kiss or two beneath the mistletoe. Morning television show darling Emma Sutton has just been fired. The only way to get her job back is to find a holiday story to warm the coldest heart. So when her hometown of Sugar Creek, Arkansas, … Sugar Creek, Arkansas, needs a Christmas event planner, Emma moves back, sure her story lies in the town’s desire to become a tourist’s holiday wonderland. The plan is perfect–until Emma meets her new boss.
Charming, handsome Noah Kincaid isn’t just Sugar Creek’s newest mayor. He’s also Emma’s ex-fiancé. Ten years ago Emma left Noah her ring and a goodbye note, but it’s haunted her ever since. The last thing Noah wants to do is work with the woman who broke his heart, but Emma’s desperate to prove to him that her bah-humbug ways won’t interfere with her work.
Emma finds it’s more than the mistletoe drawing her back to Noah. Whatever they had is clearly not over, but Noah’s kisses can’t protect Emma from a past that won’t leave her alone. As the snow falls and the trees glisten, love will come to Sugar Creek. But will it come in time to make all of Emma’s Christmas dreams come true?

I enjoy a good second-chance romance. When the story is written by Jenny B. Jones, you can be sure A Sugar Creek Christmas includes her trademark humor, making it an extra special holiday gift.
I can’t say enough about this book. It’s funny and sassy but very romantic and a perfectly clean read – a difficult feat to pull off. Great plot, well developed lead female, and satisfying ending. Loving this new-to-me author!
A heartwarming Christmas Story by Jenny B. Jones. A reporter who hates Christmas makes the mistake of mentioning it on TV and losing her job. In returning home to assist with the Christmas celebration aimed at making the town a mecca for tourists she finds she has to work with her former fiancé and then has to decide whether to stay or return to her bif city job. Forgiveness and desire to be loved are main themes in the plot of this story.
I read this in early January because I wasn’t quite ready to let Christmas go yet. Emma is a news anchor who got caught with a hot mic talking about how much she hated Christmas. She’s got one shot at career redemption: cover a story so full of Christmas that everyone will believe she’s changed. Her home town is trying to become a Christmas wonderland, so she returns to Sugar Creek, AK to cover the story and work as an event planner for the mayor–only to discover the mayor is her ex-fiance Noah.
The story has a lot of funny moments, and I loved the quirky grandmother who’s a retired black ops officer. The present builds neatly on the past, and it comes together for a sweet resolution. Recommended.
I’ve read the other books written by Jenny B. Jones, set in Sugar Creek but for some reason, I missed this one! I’m glad I picked it up this Christmas time and read it. It was just the thing to put me in the holiday mood.
I loved the interactions between Emma and Noah and all the fun quirkiness with Sylvie and Frannie. These characters bring the little town of Sugar Creek to life!
Whenever I read a Jenny B. Jones book, I know I’ll enjoy it. I’ll be entertained with humor, quirkiness, drama, and sweet romance. Her books always have characters who are so unusual and a bit eccentric. Yet, they are characters you will come to love and enjoy.
I highly recommend you pick this book up for a fun delightful book to read during the holidays.
This book made me laugh and it made me cry. My mom and I would always say that if a book could do both than it must be a good book. This one was. The author has a sense of humor similar to my own, some people may not understand it or think it’s too quirky, but I was able to relate to the characters through it. Don’t even get me started on the characters. They stand out in the long list of characters I have ever read about. Some of them were so out there that I think people will struggle to relate to them, but that’s honestly what I loved the most about them. I haven’t read a book with characters quite like these.
There were some Christian elements to this story, but it didn’t always come across as a Christian story. The author knows how to mix it in just the right way to not be in your face about it. I personally like when there is a good mix, but if you are expecting the usual Christian romance than you might be disappointed with this story. Or you might find the subtlety of it refreshing.
The story is definitely one I will be returning to. I plan to read the other Sugar Creek Novels as well.
This was such a fun Christmas read! It’s full of lots of laughs and a ton of heart.
Emma Sutton loses her job as a news anchor at America’s favorite morning show after she says, on air, that she hates Christmas. The only way to get her job back is to find the most inspirational and heartwarming story. A story that will bring a smile to even the worst Grinch. So she heads back home to Sugar Creek, Arkansas looking for her one shot at redemption, looking for her Christmas.
This story is full of wonderful and likable characters. Emma was a great leading lady. She had a tough childhood which greatly colored her view of Christmas. I loved watching her work through things and discover her Christmas. Noah, oh my. He’s so swoonworthy and so sweet. He’s pretty much the epitome of the perfect guy. My favorite character, though, was Sylvie, Emma’s ex-CIA grandmother. She was something else, lol! So hilarious, so ridiculous, and just plain awesome.
This was a quick read that I devoured as fast as possible. I’m eager to check out the other books in this series and highly recommend it if you’re looking for a Christmas romance.
