‘Charles’ is book eight in K.F. Breene’s Darkness series. It’s highly recommended that the previous books are read prior to this, although it’s based off Charles and Ann’s POV plots, events and characters from the previous books make appearances.
Newly single Ann is encouraged by Sasha to have some fun with a male from the mansion, but there is only one guy she wants but he’s a massive player. One night can’t hurt right? With Shifters going missing with no explanation why, Alpha Tim asks for assistance from Stefan and the Clan, Charles is sent to investigate alongside Ann. After their night today feelings and emotions get a little grey, are Charles and Ann going to be able to continue on as nothing happened or will feelings get in the way?
I have been loving this series but I am a little disappointed with this one. Charles has been my favourite character from the beginning, he’s childish banter and behaviour has been delightful and enjoyable throughout the series, and I was looking forward to his book. But I feel that this one fell short. Charles was more like Jonas is this, he was nothing like I’ve loved and enjoyed from him. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoyed watching Charles and Ann coming to and accepting what’s going on with them (finally).
Loved getting to see the other characters we have loved and enjoyed so far. Charles with the kids is always a funny moment to witness especially when Sabrina and Savion try to protect each other from him.
But overall still a great book to read.
FYI recommended for mature adults as it contains intimate scenes.
I absolutely LOVE Charles. I think I knew I always would as he’s been so lovable throughout the whole Series. I would’ve been hard pressed to dislike him now!!
Due to shifters going missing in the mountains Tim approaches The Boss for aid. Ann has already volunteered for the mission & they’d like a member of the Watch to assist so she’s got the protection of magic. Charles is paired with her & that’s what the main story in set around, the two of them living & working together to try & figure out what’s happening to the Shifters missing in the mountains!! Of course this is a Darkness Series Book so it’s never quite that straightforward
This book was fast paced, full of laughs, love & showed some sides to Charles that we may have suspected but never knew for sure he had. He was deeper, darker & fiercely emotional over certain things & people Ann has held on to a secret from us all, It’s a scrumptious one too!! She is a much deeper character than has been shown before now too. They’re both quick to hide behind humour!!!
This series is an absolute MUST read for any paranormal fan out there. It’s truly different, the characters are endearing each in their own ways & each book grabs you & holds your interest from start to finish.
I highly recommend The Darkness Series, it starts with ‘INTO THE DARKNESS’ which is FREE to download on Amazon, bargain
All credit goes to K.F Breene for giving us an AMAZING end to the Darkness Series!!
‘Charles’ was EVERYTHING I hoped it would be & more!! Funny, sensitive, mysterious, a little dark & very HOT!!! We got a wonderful goodbye to our friends told in dual POV’s by Charles & Ann.
**(Even though Jameson has since been released I still view this as the final book of the series, Jameson is a short seasonal story which is a wonderful read but it’s more of a thank you to fans, in my opinion, than a ‘true’ book 9!!)**
