The spring Gabby meets Clay, Michelle, another girl like Gabby, discovers the truth. A truth she’ll need to share with Gabby and the other four like them.Michelle…They kept me prisoner for four years, using me for my predictions. They thought they had me subdued, meekly following orders, but they were wrong. I was waiting for a chance to run. I had to be careful, though. They had my brothers, … though. They had my brothers, and the leader wasn’t exactly human.
The sudden death of her stepfather gives Michelle the only chance she may ever have to escape, and she takes it. She needs a place to hide and someone to listen to her predictions so her head doesn’t explode. Yet, there’s nowhere she can hide and no one to protect her from the monsters pursuing her.
Then, she meets Emmitt. He’s calm, kind, caring…and a werewolf. If she can find a way to trust him, he might be able to do more than just keep her safe. He might be the one who can help her fight for answers about her gift and the other women like her.

Awww… this couple was so sweet and nice to eachother. Michelle is like a big sister and has alot of patience and love. Emmitt was definitely a charmer. I couldnt help but smile when he talked to Michelle. Very Grown up. This story had action/hero/rescue you crave for in a book. cant wait for the rest of the books! Emmitt really did made me blush at times. I had a smile everytime he talked. Michelle is a lucky girl!
Get series that you must read in order. the author also has a series from the males persecutive which is fun. Loved all the characters in their run to stay safe. Romance and devoted males!
This was a letdown. I really enjoyed Hopeless so I had thought that I would enjoy Misfortune just as much. However, not only was I caught of guard that this book wasn’t going to follow where Hopeless left of, it was rather before Hopeless even was. Then it was completely different characters than I expected. This wasn’t necessarily bad in any way… if only the story had had a good and complex storyline.
The biggest issue with Misfortune, I believe, is the pace and development, that meaning there wasn’t much of it. While the plot was interesting and pulled me in in the beginning, it pretty quickly made me lose interest once Michelle and her brothers found their hiding spot. To me it felt like the majority of the story after that was a day by boring day recap of what the characters did. They ate breakfast, played in the yard, ate lunch, read, ate dinner then slept (they ate. All.The.Time). Now, this is of course somewhat exaggerated on my part since the story did have some other intriguing developments in the making. However instead of focusing on the main storyline, characterization and the relationship the focus tended to be too much on that day by day life making it so dragged out and lackluster in depth that it felt like nothing really happened.
I understand that it might not be the easiest to keep the readers on their toes constantly, especially with a plot where the main characters are hiding throughout most of the book. This slow-building plot line would have been a great opportunity to work in-depth with the character development and romance though and I never felt like it took advantage of that. The characters wasn’t given that spotlight to showcase unique personalities, disagreements, flaws or opinions. Instead they all kind of blended together into each other with little to tell them apart. Two of the major characters, Michelle’s brothers, barely even had a voice in the story, only being a tool to further along the plot with her protecting and raising them. And as voiceless characters it is really difficult to identify any sort of relationship developing.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the romance and the relationship between Michelle and Emmitt. It did have its very sweet moments, but just as the plot it was very dragged out with not much happening. It wasn’t really until the end of the book that anything big between them happened and that went from zero to one hundred in a second. It made it feel unnatural since there was little progress and reason as to why Michelle went from reserved and uncertain to all in it all of a sudden. I of course don’t mind the ending with them finally fully getting together. It was just the way to it that I wasn’t that into, which is such a shame when the first book showed how well the author can write complex characters and a good developing and unique romance. Hopefully this was just a hit and a miss and that the next book will be up to par.
Another wonderful book too this series. I love all the twists and turns. I just couldn’t put the book down once I started too read it. Keep up the great work and I can’t wait too enjoy more of your books.
Enjoyed it.
I have gotten sucked into this werewolf world, and I love it.
The best thing is reading the story told from the girl’s viewpoint, then the next book tells the same story from the man’s viewpoint.
Can’t wait to read them all.
Great paranormal series!
Fun cozy mystery
Awesome series, addicting, just like potato chips, you can’t do just one!
[Miss]Fortune is every bit as awesome. Michelle & Emmitt are so sweet. They have so much to overcome before she can claim him. You just can’t help but cheer them on. Emmitt is another werewolf to fall in love with, and this book is another piece of the puzzle falling in place in this saga of The Judgment of the Six.
Melissa Haag writes awesome addictive werewolf books! Can’t wait for the last book in “The Judgement of the Six” series to come out- to see what happens in the end. The book flows so well, have you on the edge of your seat, with a mixture of humor, suspense, drama, excitement, & of course, love. I couldn’t put this down. Highly reccomend this series! Also don’t miss the companion books, from the men’s point of view, I feel like you learn even more details/background from them, & it’s not just a retelling of the same story.
