From Bailey Cattrell—who writes the New York Times bestselling Magical Bakery Mysteries as Bailey Cates—comes the first Enchanted Garden Mystery featuring custom perfume maker Elliana Allbright…The Enchanted Garden behind Elliana Allbright’s perfume shop draws people of all ages with its fragrant flowers and lush greenery. But when the magical serenity is interrupted, it’s up to Ellie to sniff … it’s up to Ellie to sniff out a killer.
Ellie’s life has blossomed in Poppyville, California, since she opened Scents & Nonsense, a custom-made-perfume store. Her skills with aromas and botanical essences—some from her very own garden—seem almost…supernatural. Her perfumes can evoke emotions, bring about change, or simply make people happy. Customers are flocking to the store to buy her wares or just to sit in her beautiful garden, sip tea and enjoy homemade cookies.
But she smells trouble when she learns that her part-time assistant Josie is dating her ex. And before she can tell the young woman to beware of his charms, she finds Josie dead in the Enchanted Garden. Now the prime suspect in Josie’s murder, Ellie must search for the real culprit in Josie’s past—because it’ll take a miracle to nip this problem in the bud….

Bailey Cattrell (Bailey Cates, Cricket McRae) is one of my go to favorites for cozy authors and this is my favorite series of hers by a long shot. I love how magic and mystery are intertwined with nature and the language of flowers. It is so easy to picture sitting in her garden while watching the mystery unfold. I would highly recommend this series.
Great first book of the series. I found this book at my local used bookstore and bought the first two of the series. I loved the characters, the setting, and the enchanted garden theme.
There is some useful information about plants in the book, which I love, and a recipe or two in the back. Some cooking and some aromatherapy.
Elliana, what a pretty name, is a specialist in aromatherapy and makes perfumes. She has a knack for knowing just what people need and can sense what they are feeling. Her part-time assistant is found murdered at her garden gate and of course the less than stellar cop assigned to it (her ex-husbands friend) only sees her as the suspect. So it is up to Elliana to solve the murder.
The characters are fun and interesting and the descriptions of the town and her shop and garden make me a little jealous. Time to work on my sad garden. 🙂
I liked it.
Definitely a fun cozy mystery, along with the other 2 in the series. I hope the author continues writing in this series as she has created a town with interesting characters.
Loved this book!
A fun, easy summer read.
I like this series, will definitely get the rest. Love the characters.
Good information about aromatherapy,an easy read but somewhat boring storyline.
Great Beginning of this new series!!!!
Great start to this new series. Now I cannot wait to read the other books in this series. Elliana owns a perfume shop where she also creates soaps and perfumes and pretty much anything. She’s made a magical garden behind her store that the children just love. Calming and soothing, this is the place to be.
Bailey Cattrell also writes as Bailey Cates the Magical Bakery Mysteries. Haven’t read those yet, but I will be soon.
He ex is no good and highly volitole and thinks that she’s trying to lure all of his employees over to her side and work for her. Not true. But she does like the police detective that showed up to investigate the crime. No nonscence kind of lady. But her partner leaves a little bit to be desired. He’s a good friend of her exes and looks at Ellaina as the murderer.
She has a way about her and goes about her business and solves this crime. I didn’t see it coming who the killer actually was. Give it a try and I think that you’ll enjoy this new series.
An enjoyable setting for a cozy mystery.
I really enjoyed all the information concerning aromatherapy featured in this series of mysteries. Great recipes included.
