Grace Shaw is on the run from her crazy ex-boyfriend who refuses to believe their relationship is over. He’s a cop and is willing to use police resources to track her down. So Grace comes up with a plan and tricks his fellow brothers in blue into thinking he is crying wolf a couple of times when he reports her missing. Little does she know she’ll go running into the arms of a real wolf when she … she finally makes her escape for real.
She just wants to be left alone, but then she meets Hunter Tate – the alpha of the Black River Pack. Grace tries to hold Hunter at arm’s length, but there’s just no reasoning with an alpha male werewolf who insists she’s his mate.
This is book one in the Black River Pack series. Each novella will feature a different couple.

Werewolf / human romance that’s pretty much perfect
Not a long story, a little angst, abuse, danger, fear, murder, that’s more than made up for with the fated mates lust and passion! The violence at the end is justified and there’s a sweet HEA
** spoiler alert ** Really good short book. I love seeing females that have been abused show they’re not weak hours. When she does escape from her acts the way she does it is brilliant! I like the fact that when she meets her mate he doesn’t pressure her. Him knowing that she’s been through a lot he takes his time with her even though it’s going against everything within him to wait. And I like the fact that her abusive ex meets karma a.k.a. her mate LOL and yes he kills him!
First off, in reply to some of the other reviews I see on Amazon, this is a romance, it is not a indepth novel about abuse. Artistic license allows an author to gloss over facts that would not be condusive to her book. Getting into all the hows and whys of an abusive man is not the reason that readers want to read a romance. This book lightly goes over the toxic relationship and gives a simple explanation of how she escapes even it if is not factual. Paranormal romances are FICTIONAL, therefore, the author did not need to write about all the horrors of being in an abusive relationship.
Granted, the characters could use a little more filling out/mmoothing over, but… I thought Hunter was a good character. He, like all alphas in the romances I have read, just wants to claim and protect his mate. Grace is not a character that I would identify with as she is a bit on the wishy washy side, but everyone deals with abuse in different ways, so I gave her a pass for her indecision. Parker was an interesting character and I hope to read more about him in a future book.
Author’s writing styles change over time as they learn what works and what doesn’t. I didn’t see typos and her sentence structure was better than a lot of authors I have read. It is not unusual for an author to switch perspectives. The book was written to be enjoyed, not torn apart like some of the reviewers seem to enjoy doing.
Overall, I thought this book was on par with most of the other paranormal romances I have read. It isn’t going to change the world, but it did what it was intended to do., it entertained me and I enjoyed reading it. Will I read more of her work? Why, yes, I will. I would recommend this book if you want to read about a strong alpha who protects his mate from a preditory abuser.

I enjoyed this book so much! Sam seems to be the perfect man, but slowly he has her right where he wants her and it was easy because she was at such a low point to start out. Grace thought she’d found her “love at first sight” until she woke up alone. I
This story just goes to show how a pretty face can be covering a monster or can actually be an angel. The characters where great. There’s a nice romantic storyline for Grace and Hunter. There isn’t any big plots twists, but the story has an easy to read flow. Well written. Well edited.
Loved this book, it was told from the character perpective,. Which made it more interesting. page Turner. I couldn’t out it down. Very good.
