A heartbreaking tale of yearning for the future, while still clinging to the past. Storms Over Secrets can be read as a stand alone novel. Promises are lies dressed up for the party.Secrets poison the fairest of fairy tales.Lies stain the purest of loves.I’ve paid the ultimate price for my choices. The tendrils of those sins bind me to my past. The remnants of my love hold me captive. Then he … my past. The remnants of my love hold me captive.
Then he walks into my life and makes me believe in second chances. He awakens feelings in my I know I shouldn’t have. I yearn for a future without guilt. With him, I dream of a love untainted.
Regret is a far reaching emotion. It barrels through time like a blazing comet, and its path isn’t always straight. No matter what I feel, I cannot bring myself to regret the time I’ve spent with Cain.
But it doesn’t mean I can have him.
My name is Celia Lemaire, and this is my story of broken promises.
Storms Over Secrets is the third book of The Over Series, a group of interconnected stand alone novels. This book is a new adult romance. It is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

He’s been her rock and her friend but his heart wants, no needs more. She is holding on to the last tendrils of her family, her life, the only people who have been there for her and her best friend. Cain introduces her to more. He shows her what his love and his family can bring her. He and his family come into her life and now her past has become her prison. In order to embrace what she now has found in Cain she’s going to need help to break the chains that bind them all to the secrets and promises of the past so they can all have the future that has been denied. This is someones truth. This may be a fictional story but it’s also someones truth. Awesome read.
All the feels
I started this series with the Over Duet and up until I finished this, it continued to be my favorite. But Cece and Cain have completely stolen first place.
This book made me laugh but it also made me cry so much when I learned all about Cece’s past. I takes a lot of talent for an author to treat sensitive subjects with respect and dignity and this author nails it every single time.
This series is so emotional and I’m so sorry it took me so long to read it.
I didn’t think it was possible to love this series more, but JA DeRouen was truly saving the very best for last! Cain and Celia’s story completely blew me away and had me both laughing and crying like a baby! This is the third book in the interconnected Over series, but it can be read as a stand alone. As I’ve said before, however, I do recommend reading the previous books because they’re amazing and because characters from those books appear in this one. It will also help you to truly appreciate the emotional journey that Cain and Celia make throughout this series.
Oh Cain, you had me at cratchel. Seriously, I have loved Cain throughout this series for all of his hilarious jokes and banter, but also for being such a loyal and loving friend. I couldn’t wait to get to his story and finally being able to get a glimpse into his heart and mind was incredible. Yes, it’s a heart wrenching journey, but it’s also one filled with love, acceptance, and understanding. He truly is a gentle giant and it will be impossible for readers to not fall in love with him. His connection with Celia was so genuine and beautiful that their love (and heartbreak) were palpable. My poor heart couldn’t keep up sometimes with the emotions that were pouring off the page. They fight so hard to do what they consider to be the right thing, that you can’t help but root for them to get their happily ever after.
I really liked that there was overlap again within the timeline of the books, so you could experience what was happening with other characters during events that you’re already familiar with. Getting small updates and continuations of Adam & Sara’s, as well as Alex & West’s stories, was also so wonderful and heart warming. The secondary characters did not disappoint again this time around, and I absolutely loved Cain’s family! They are wonderfully crazy and oh my goodness, the stories from Cain’s childhood had me laughing until I had tears in my eyes! (Ahem, the JC Penny catalog and the toilet seat incident!!!) I think the best part of this book though, was the twist that I didn’t see coming AT ALL. Boy was it a doozy!! It kicked the emotions and anguish to a whole new level, but it also made the journey so incredibly fulfilling. I cannot recommend this series enough and I hope everyone will read these books and experience the magic that is JA DeRouen!
Meeting Cain and Celia are a must! Don’t miss this beautifully written standalone novel in the Over Series!
This story was an okay read for me. Maybe I expected more because I read and loved a previous book in this standalone series and I felt that this one fell short. The story flow was too slow for me and it was hard for me to connect to the characters. I liked the characters individually but I didn’t feel that connection between them as a couple. I hated what happened to Lucas’s character; I especially felt his mom should have done more when everything was first mentioned. I did feel that Celia really cared for him but even then I didn’t feel a deep connection. I really liked Cain’s character but even with that being said I didn’t feel the connection between him and Celia that I was expecting to feel. Yes, there were sweet, funny and heartfelt moments but I still feel as if something was missing.
