Laci Rocha Peterson, 8 months pregnant, was last seen by her sister, Amy, in the late afternoon of December 23, 2002. She spoke to her mother, Sharon Rocha, at 8:30 p.m. that night. This would be the last time anyone from her immediate family ever spoke to her.A search began which lasted an agonizing four months. Sadly, Laci Peterson and her son Conner were found dead on the shores of San … San Francisco Bay on April 18, 2003.
Her husband, Scott, was eventually arrested and charged with the murder of Laci and Connor. After a sensational, media-saturated trial, Peterson was found guilty of capital murder and was sentenced to death on March 16, 2005.
This book deals with the story in three separate sections: first, Sharon describes the ordinary, loving life her daughter led, including fond memories of her childhood and adolescence. Second, it covers her marriage, disappearance, the community’s moving search for her, and her and Connor’s eventual recovery from San Francisco Bay. Third, it tells the story of the trial in detail not before revealed. Sharon will also talk about victim’s rights, a subject on which she now campaigns regularly.
more
I was hoping to hear more about Laci as a person & her childhood so that was a bit disappointing, but my heart (still) goes out to her mother, Sharon, & every other parent who has had to endure that kind of pain & tragedy. When Sharon described lying n a fetal position & not moving or responding to those around her as it helped subdue her pain, I totally related to that comment…been there, done that, & it does (temporarily) work.
Very well written. I came away feeling as if I knew Lacy, and grieved for the loss of such a beautiful soul and her child who never knew life.
Finally…the true story of what actually happened
Awwww… I was moved by Laci’s Mother’s telling of the whole sad story. She was able to add a new dimension to what the newscasts and other authors told us. An easy read but one that captured for me the horrror of what Lacis husbandselfishly perpetrated on his loving wife. There’s no doubt he was the murderer…that big shot attorney, Geragas(?) ought to leave well enough alone. Scott hopefully will spend the rest of his life locked up because being a sociopath/psychopath – I think he would do it again under the right circumstances. What a waste of so many lives…..if you listened to the tv reports, etc….and “enjoyed” learning about this case…do read Laci’s mothers book….it tells it like it was…is.
Well written. Learned a few more details that I didn’t know. Told more about Laci that you didn’t hear in the news and a lot more about her family and how hard it was to loose a beloved daughter and sister.
Very interesting.
