Mel Goes to Hell series:
This is the fourth book in the Mel Goes to Hell series, which consists of:
- Welcome to Hell (#1) – FREE
- See You in Hell (#2)
- Mel Goes to Hell (#3)
- To Hell and Back (#4)
- The Holiday From Hell (#5)
- Melody Angel’s Guide to Heaven and Hell
more
Melody and Luce continue to be wonderfully imperfect beings. Most of the time misunderstanding themselves and each other. Persi’s disappearance was a distraction. The end was unsatisfying for me.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
Even more Mel and Luce adventures. No spoilers, but if you enjoyed the earlier books in the series you will like this one.
This was a well-written book. This is the fourth book in the Mel Goes to Hell series, featuring Luce, the Lord of Hell, and Mel, the angel in charge of keeping order in all the realms (Earth, Heaven and Hell). They are seeking Persephone, who took over the HELL Corporation from Luce but has now disappeared. This story was rather depressing and sad and I did not enjoy it as much as the other books in the series. It does move the story line along though, so I would recommend it to others who have read the first three books and I will continue reading the rest of the series.
As usual with a series, it’s most enjoyable to start at the beginning Welcome to Hell: A Short Story (Mel Goes to Hell Series Book 1) , and continue sequentially. Very true of this series. I loved the notion that Lucifer, former demon and Lord of Hell, has been redeemed by love. I was surprised by the overt sensuality and sexuality of Mel (Lady Muriel, leader of the Hashmallim, the angel in charge of keeping order in all the realms of the world: Earth, Heaven and Hell), who is definitely female; not one of your typical chaste Angels!
The book opens with Luce and Mel returning to HELL Corp. after the surprise ending of “Mel Goes to Hell”. They have a lot of work ahead to undo the mess left by Persephone. Luce is still totally consumed by his love for Mel. For administrative help, Mel brings in a squad of Exousiai to help get HELL straightened out. Searching for Persi in Ireland, Mel, Luce and Patrick have an exciting night: Luce and Patrick compete in a karaoke contest, while Mel almost faints from the shock of being asked to perform in public. Then Mel and Luce fly to Japan to avert a nuclear confrontation. Luce has to seduce a trophy wife while Mel tries to negotiate with the wife’s husband. Luce just doesn’t get the pleasure from seduction that he did as a demon. A cliffhanger ending leaves me looking forward the next installment The Holiday From Hell (Mel Goes to Hell Series Book 5).
I think these books get better and better. Though this book kind of left on a cliff-hanger. Which just makes me want to read the next book that much faster. At some points it did get annoying when Mel called Luce, my love about a thousand times. It was also annoying how much Luce didn’t want to disappoint Mel and everything he did , he though was a disappointment. That is just a personal opinion on those things. The book is of course funny, fun and heading off to far off places. I can’t wait to read the next book.
