This is a standalone romance novel.
This is the story of Aiden & MacKenzie. Aiden comes to a small town looking for a serial killer who killed his wife. MacKenzie works at a bar in this small town. She also has a gift of seeing things in her dreams that will happen or have happened. This story reveals so many surprises, one after the other. There are tons of emotions throughout this book. It holds your attention through it all. It a well written book by a great author. This story deserves way above a 5 rating. I always look forward to any of Gemma James’ books.
Overall, I enjoyed this tale of suspense. A serial killer is on the loose. Mackenzie dreams of death. Aidan is new in town. How are their lives intertwined?
Well edited. A few misses, but not enough to ruin the flow of the story.
Mackenzie is new to town, making few friends, and working at a local bar. She has recently left her longtime boyfriend and the reason is shrouded in mystery. And to top it off, Mackenzie dreams – of death, of tragedy, and of a mystery man. Then one evening, the mystery man walks into the bar. How is it even possible? More dreams follow. Will Mackenzie be able to stop the tragedies and horrors before it is too late?
Aidan is new to town. Just as he arrives, it seems that a serial killer has also relocated from Aidan’s previous hometown. How are the killings tied to Aidan? Will he understand when he discovers that Mackenzie has dozens of drawings of him – some reaching back years? Aidan has tragedy of his own. Will he be able to let go of the past to embrace a future? Will the killer come for Mackenzie next? Will Aidan be able to protect her?
So many questions arise in this book. What happened to make Mackenzie run? Why doesn’t she trust her mother anymore? What happened to Aidan? How is he connected to the killer? Is he the killer? How does Aidan’s family impact Mackenzie’s life and vice versa? Two viable suspects arose pretty early – one is guilty, one is not. However, the one who is innocent of the killings is still on the creepy side of life. Does he still pose a threat?
And in the end, some strings are tied up, but others remain loose. Why is Hamilton Payne such a threat? What secrets still lie buried? Through all the twists and turns, the story held, and was quite interesting. Wondering (and hoping) there is more to the story someday, and that all the questions will be answered. In the meantime, Enjoy!
Ever kick yourself for letting a book lanquish in your TBR for ever???? Epiphany waited in my kindle for nearly two years before I finally decided it was time and I’m kicking myself….HARD.
I didn’t even finish the first chapter before I knew….just knew….this book was going to blow me away. The writing is that good. Reading this was like watching it on TV, only better! Every scene was so vivid, every emotion felt at my core and the tension was like teetering on the edge of a cliff. Seriously, don’t make the same mistake I did. This book doesn’t deserve to lay dormant in any ereader or TBR. A serial killer on the loose, a mysterious but oh so hot stranger in town and a heroine with horrific dreams, what’s not to love?!
This book was original released as a serial in 3 parts. You can buy each episode separately or the full version. There is no way you will stop at one episode, so get it all at once.
