A laugh out loud, friends to lovers romance.
This book had me giggling throughout it! These two, Pete and Brooke, have been best friends since they were kids and their bond has just gotten stronger over the years. But Brooke has had one secret from Pete that she’s afraid will destroy their friendship. She’s been in love with him the entire time but she values their friendship more than anything else, so she won’t act on it. But when Pete comes home for a funeral, he realizes how much Brooke has changed and he’s having feelings for her. Now what do they do?
I really enjoyed reading this book because it was full of laughter and friendship. As it went along, of course, there were a few tears… on both sides. But it was a really good book!

“When your panties end up hanging in trees…” Wait. What???? How can you not pick up a book whose trailer starts with that? You can’t. You absolutely DO have to read that book.
Isn’t It Romantic is the second in the Korbel Classic Romance Humorous series. It’s all about childhood friends, Brooke and Pete. Both of them “orphans” taken in by Mamie. Both of them with big dreams. Only one of them follows those dreams, the other stays in their little town with Mamie. The book opens with Mamie’s funeral. Brooke has fought for and lost, all of the things Mamie wanted at her funeral. Brooke just couldn’t override Mamie’s straight-laced sisters. As the service is about to start, Brooke is anxiously waiting for Pete to show up. As usual, he makes his grand entrance seconds before the event starts. After the funeral, Pete and Brooke set out to fulfill all of Mamie’s wishes for her final send-off. Along the way, they discover more than they bargained for.
This is another sweet, fun, and entertaining story. It’s set in the mid-90s when things were just a little simpler than they are now. It was refreshing to go back there for a few days.
A throughly enjoyable read. I would definitely be checking out the other books in this series.
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I loved this story about Pete and Brooke. They have been best friend since they were kids and both shared a love for his Aunt Mamie. When she passes away she leaves certain things that she would like followed for the funeral, but her sisters vetoed then leaving Pete and Brooke to do it in their own. When the will is read the family is upset with the outcome expect them. In order to appear her wishes, they take a road trip All the while on trip feeling are wiggling their way into the mix. Faces with lots of excitement, a tornado running them off the road, an attempted mugging, allergies to cats and unexplained coincidences. Recommend this story for a good read. Great characters and wonderful story line. Loved the descriptions of places they visited and sites they saw. Love the normalcy of their relationship.

A well-written story of two friends Pete Cooper and Brooke Ferguson and the second chance they get when Pete’s Aunt Mamie dies and they set out on a road trip to fulfill Mamie’s last wishes. I will be reading this book again. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have loved all the vintage Kathleen Korbel classics I’ve been reading lately, and Isn’t It Romantic? is probably the best one of them so far.
Brooke and Pete have been friends their entire lives. At first she was just tagging along with Pete and her older brother, but soon she became closer to Pete than her brother was. But, he left their small town and went out into the big world to become a famous news correspondent. He’s back in town now, though, for his Aunt Mamie’s funeral. The Aunt Mamie who is Brooke’s friend and maternal figure. When it becomes obvious that Brooke wasn’t able to give Mamie the funeral she wanted – with Hell’s Angels, Elvis impersonators, limericks and other crazy, fun stuff, Brooke and Pete take a road trip in Brooke’s inherited vintage Thunderbird, something about the trip sparks a change in their friendship. As they cross the line between friends and lovers, I could just hear Aunt Mamie in the wind clapping like crazy at how she got her two favorite people in the world together.
But, there are obstacles for our two friends turned lovers. Pete’s world is not Brooke’s. And she doesn’t appreciate Pete treating her like she’s one of his many hangers on. One of his many sycophantic fans. Can Pete dig deep and see what Brooke needs vs the way he sees the world he lives in?
Isn’t It Romantic? is such a charming, sweet, witty story that it’s hard to believe it was written and set in 1992. Brooke and Pete are a great couple with realistic behavior and realistic problems. I absolutely loved it. I can’t wait for more vintage Kathleen Korbel.
World famous award winning news reporter Pete Cooper comes back to Rupert Springs, Arkansas for his Aunt Mamie’s funeral. When Mamie leaves his best friend Brooke Ferguson her car they decide to take a road trip to memorialize Mamie the way she should have been according to her last wishes and visit all the places she dreamed of like New Orleans, Graceland, and historical homes in Georgia. Plenty of funny and romantic moments in this life long best friends to HEA romance.
Humorous Friends to Lovers Romance
What a fantastic read! The story is warm and outrageous at the same time. I just loved the plot. I have known a few women like Aunt Mamie, being true to themselves in spite of society. I loved all of the characters in the story. Very realistic and believable. This book has not lost a thing since its original publication. Definitely part of my ‘keeper collection’. I received this book for free and this is my honest opinion.
Pete and Brooke grew up watching TV with his aunt. When she passed away, they head out on the road to fulfill Aunt Mamie’s wishes. Through all of their travel they find out something about themselves along the way and that is that they have deep feeling for each other. Will this road trip be the start of Pete and Brooke’s next destination Love and Happily Ever After?
