Too wordy and convoluted
I enjoyed the book because it was realistic yet not frightening, the author knows
“Mothers” and what she does is the actions of a VERY BUSY Mom. I love it and want more.
The plot is well crafted and well told. In a nutshell, the heroine is a young mother who gave birth two months ago and is simultaneously starting her own private investigator’s business.
I must confess, however, that I prefer my mysteries sans accounts of babies’ developmental tasks, throwing up, needing diaper changes and all that other stuff. Also a plot that often builds suspense by too much detail about whether the budding PI will make it somewhere so she can express her milk and catch the villain within the same couple of hours. If you like “mommy stuff”, you’ll love this. Not my fave but a well-written story.
The main character Kate has a real quality. She is funny and trying to be the best mom, wife, an private investigator, but shows what a woman is really like. I loved it and the easy writing style.
Good read
I have read several from this author and the characters grow on you. Fun, light reading.
Too much mommy and baby, not enough mystery
When I started reading this book, I realized I had already read the first book in the series. Like the first one it is cute, light reading and somewhat humorous. The mystery is interesting but I find the investigation, coupled with juggling a new baby, pretty unrealistic. This book might appeal to young mothers looking for a quick entertaining read.
This is a great series that I think young mothers would especially enjoy since it addresses some of the everyday trials of dealing with new babiee. It is not limited to that audience, I am in my 70’s.
Combined good mystery with good memories for grandmothers.
Kept me guessing until the end! Loved the main character and her charm!
Sorry, I found this book extremely boring. After the first 3-4 chapters skimmed through most of it.
The story line was okay, but I really can’t see a mom traipsing around like that .
This is the first cozy mystery I did not finish. I got tired of the trials and tribulations of motherhood overwhelming the investigation into Helene’s untimely death.I realize this is a unique approach, but it’s just not my cup of tea.
