When the beautiful, hot-tempered Bailey McShane bursts into the cattlemen’s saloon, waving her shotgun and accusing the cowboys of theft, simmering tempers start to boil.Bailey wants restitution for the fence posts that some low-down cowpokes burned to steal precious water from her land.No self-respecting cattleman would be caught dead siding with a sheep rancher, like Bailey—and yet Zack … Bailey—and yet Zack Rawlins, the youngest, elected president of the Cattlemen’s Association, can’t resist this pint-sized wildcat with the big blue eyes. With drought-stricken Bandera County on the brink of range war, Zack faces political suicide if he can’t find a way to mend fences between Bailey and his cattle-ranching neighbors.
But what’s a cowboy to do with an unpredictable woman who refuses to be tamed?

I absolutely loved this story. The heat between these two seem to always erupt as anger. Bailey is a woman running a sheep ranch, and Zack runs a cattle ranch and is President of the local Cattlemen’s Association. Bailey has to deal with all sexism on top of one of her neighbors destroying her fences and stealing her water. If Zack is going to get Bailey to have him, he is going to have to love all of Bailey, even her male side; cause Bailey is not going to give up having a say in the running of her ranch. Between the range war about to begin and the drought, tempers are high, but Bailey finds ways to get the Cattlemen and the Woolgrowers come together, even if it’s in the form of competition and the Woolgrowers take credit for it. This is a firecracker of a story and I loved it.
Not one of my favorites, but it could be me. Didn’t hold my attention. Sorry.
I thought the hero was wonderful but I hated the heroine’s obnoxious behavior. Her constant arguing and complaining wore me down. I read to be entertained – not to be exasperated. This book didn’t do it for me.
I liked the book. It was a good read. I was glad to see a relatively strong female main character.
Bailey McShane ran her own ranch because her father had passed away. Although there were a few times I think she could have taken the help that was offered her and not be seen as weak. But she stuck to her guns most of the book. Zack Rawlins is a good guy and tried to help out Bailey. He could have acted a little different in some of the situations, he felt that she should want help when she didn’t and mainly because she was a woman. Bailey even though she was seen as different from her neighbors (not only was she female but she was a sheep herder while they were cattle men) she still let them use her land for water during the drought that struck Texas.
I really liked the ending and how everything turned out. I would write more but it would give spoilers.

I enjoy western romance. After the first episode in the bar I thought this was going to be a silly romance but as I continued to read (I rarely give up on a book), the plot and characters were built and I began to enjoy it. I give books a good rating when I find I
have trouble putting it down.
I first read this book about 6 years ago and enjoyed it as much the second time around as I did the first. Feisty Bailey McShane was dragged up by her father, rather than gently reared, after her mother abandoned the family. With the result, her feminine side has largely been neglected and she will take on any cowboy or male who considers her less than intelligent. The one man who does attract her attention is Zack Rawlins, but she reckons she is too far beneath him for him to notice her. However, when Bailey takes drastic steps to hunt down the cowpoke that has been causing problems on her sheep farm, Zack takes notice. The story is well written with a good plot and strong characters. Crossing the big divide between cattle and sheep, especially in a time of drought, creates enemies out of neighbours. Zack finds that with his growing attraction for the wildcat sheep farmer, that it is up to him to find a solution to the problems facing the whole community. Although this book is part of a series, it is nevertheless a standalone with a heartwarming ending. I originally purchased this book in 2012, but also received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review
