Wolf Trouble is book two in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team by Paige Tyler and Narrated by Abby Craden. Theirs danger, intrigue, and scorching moments.
I enjoyed this one a little better then book one. The heroine in book one is a reporter and I dislike reporters, but this time we get a female werewolf, the first the SWAT guys have found and seen.
Khaki didn’t get on my nervous, but I do have to say Khaki!! Really? I get unusual names, but every time I read this name I thought about pants. Also not one character mentioned or commented on her name. That’s unusual. Besides the usual name Khaki owns up to her mistakes, she’s funny, smart, independent, and resourceful.
Xander doesn’t believe in love or fate and is thrown by his attraction to Khaki. He’s close to his pack, teammates, and isn’t too thrilled to have a female on his team. Once he meets the new female his protective instincts go on high alert and he has to battle them and his attraction.
The world building was much stronger in this story. Book one lacked in that area, but her the world comes to life.
I liked meeting and diving more into the pack. We didn’t get much in the first book, but here we get to see more of the pack dynamics and it was great. I liked the interactions and felt they where believable. Theirs this deep camaraderie and real respect.
The sexual tension between Xander and Khaki is scorching. I like that they took some time to get to know each other and see where their feelings take them. Neither realizes what is going on and that leads to some funny scenes.
One thing that I noticed and this would have taking away a lot of the drama. Is that when a new wolf comes into the pack they should sit them down, whether male or female, and explain what the pack knows about werewolves, instead of leaving them and the team open for trouble. If this is done; then it would take away the confusion and also help the pack find out what the new wolf knows about being a werewolf. It felt like something the pack Alpha should do, but he didn’t do this.
One other thing that was a bit disappointing was Khaki’s ex-boyfriend. I was expecting more evil and more drama from this plot line, but he had no depth and his evil was eh! The ending was a bit too neat and tidy as well.
Narration: Abby Craden did a great job. I enjoyed the female voice, but some of the male voice didn’t sound so good. I’m glad a listened. I don’t think things would have moved along as fast for me if I read. The audio brought the action, learning process, and romance alive.
All and all I enjoyed Wolf Trouble and I plan to continue the series in audio.
Rated: 3.5 Stars
Narration: 4 Stars
I’ve had Wolf Trouble by Paige Tyler on my TBR list since 2015. I can’t believe I never read it in 2015, but that was the year my job took off, and I didn’t have much time to read anymore. Boo! I’ve decided though I’m going back through my TBR and catching up on reading/reviewing books. It’s time to shorten my TBR. Ha! My list will never shrink with all these great books authors write, especially Paige Tyler.
Female Protagonist: Khaki Blake is one kick-butt character, and she’s not your ordinary police officer. She’s a werewolf. She’s one character that I adored in this book because she’s confident, brave, and determined to be on an all-male SWAT team.
Male Protagonist: Xander Riggs is the Senior Corporal of his Squad on the SWAT team. He is one character that kicks butt too. He’s a jerk initially, especially to Khaki, but then turns into a love-sick werewolf.
Storyline: The storyline for this book was page turner for me. Here it is the female protagonist, Khaki Blake is recruited into an all male SWAT team thanks to Gage the Alpha leader of the pack and SWAT team. Gage breaks it to her that she’s a werewolf. She had no idea what she was, but she knew she was special compared to other police officers she worked with at her old job. She’s not a character you try to mess with because she can handle herself, especially after dealing with a jerk of an ex-boyfriend who made her life heck after she broke up with him. He literally put her in danger too many times since they were both police officers at the same police headquarters. He won’t matter anymore after she moves to Dallas. Now she has to deal with her new Squad Leader and team that are all men and turn into werewolves. Xander though makes it difficult for her, but that’s because he’s confused on his reaction to her. He has no idea that Khaki is his fated mate until later on in the story. Enough, of telling the story though. Be prepared when you read this book because the SWAT team is dealing with some tough situations and the ending will leave you in shock on what happens.
Steaminess: There’s quite a bit of steam between Xander and Khaki when they do hook-up. They can’t seem to stay off of each other.
Standalone or Series: It’s part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.
HEA: Yes.
Trope: Fated Mates.
Would I recommend this book? Wolf Trouble brings me back to my love of the Paranormal Romance genre and werewolves. I would recommend this book to PNR and UF readers out there. If you enjoy books with werewolves that work in SWAT and are all sexy and alpha, this book/series is for you. I give this book 4.5 stars and can’t wait to catch up on this series. I can’t believe it took me this long to read the second book in this series. I love Paige Tyler’s books.
Faced with having to add a female to the line-up, Gage goes after our heroine. When she arrives and tries to become part of her assigned team, tensions run high with our hero. Add in her stalker ex, a FBI case and the many new SWAT techniques she needs to learn has our heroine on overload. Good thing her Packmates have her back and that insane attraction she has for our hero, that’s just mating frenzy.
Wolf Trouble in book 2 in the SWAT series. It’s a Paranormal Romance with a Military/Law Enforcement Trope. Each book is a stand alone and doesn’t have to be read in any particular order. You get lot of action, steam, alpha shapeshifters and their feisty women.
Xander Riggs is the Senior Corporal on the Dallas SWAT team, an elite pack of wolf-shifters. Higher ups insist on diversity and wants a woman be put on the teams. None of the men have ever seen a female wolf-shifter so they are curious but they soon find out that Khaki Blake is not what they expected.
The moment Khaki walks through the door Xander cannot help but be attracted to her but her smell is enticing. He tries to keep his heart rate normal and his eyes off of her but he doesn’t know what to do when she is put on his team. While under his command he becomes protective of Khaki especially when her ex starts to stalk her. Things start happening on and off the clock and it’s getting harder to hide their feelings and their Wolves out of Trouble.
I won a copy of this book from the author, I was not required to give a favorable review. This is the 2nd book in this series and it is another story that you can’t put down. When Khaki was doing her job in Lakefront PD and she had dated a guy who’s family who all had been cops, but when she broke up with him he didn’t take it nicely and made her job bad for her. When she went out on a call on a women having been beat up and was found by a dumpster outside a apartment building and when she couldn’t get back up at 2 in the morning she knew she was in trouble but she wasn’t going to let this woman die, but she was injured but that is when her werewolf came out, but she couldn’t figure it out. When Cage was told he had to bring a woman on the team he knew she needed to be a werewolf also, that is when he found out about Khaki. When she decides to join the SWAT team she didn’t realize that she was going to be so attracted to Xander and he was her supervisor. Xander didn’t realize that what he was feeling was The ONE standing in front of him when he met her, but they try to fight it and figure out they are suppose to be together. They just have to deal with her ex showing up in Dallas, and telling Cage that belong together.
OMG this book was great. I haven’t read a Paige Tyler book before, but I couldn’t put Wolf Trouble down. This book centres on the Dallas SWAT team, which has never had a female officer on it before. That changes when Police Officer Khaki Blake is placed on it due to political reasons and also because like the rest of the Dallas SWAT team, she is also a werewolf. Here Khaki meets her Commanding Officer, Senior Corporal Xander Riggs, a hot, domineering, hardworking SWAT Team member who is going to put Khaki through her paces, if only he could stop the undeniable attraction he has to her!
Khaki and Xander’s heat is off the charts and no matter how much they try to fight it whether it be chemically, emotionally or physically they just can’t stay away from each other. There are scenes in the book (like the shower scene) which are quite funny as they try and mask their scents from other team members, or the yoga scene which is just plain awkward for Xander. Then there are some tender scenes when both characters get hurt.
This book was a great read; it had a lot of action, intrigue and spiciness to keep you guessing. I really like the relationship that all the characters had with each other as well as Paige Tyler’s ideas about werewolves which was quite different from the traditional ones. She also looked at themes such as belonging to the ‘old boys club’, being on a team as well as giving us an in-depth look at how a SWAT team works. It will be interesting to read more of this series and see how other characters find their ‘one’ as well as see relationships develop with the older characters.
Overall, this is a great read if you like romantic suspense as well as a bit of werewolves.

Love this book and series . Great writing, hot alpha males, kick ass leading lady, chemistry between Xander and Khaki is off the wall.Suspenseful, a vengeful ex boyfriend different take on shifters from other books.
Khaki Blake is a good police officer but the force she works on will never back her up because of her ex-boyfriend . He deliberately turned them against her when she dumped him. So after a nasty call one night, she wants out.
Xander Riggs is a SWAT team leader and a werewolf. The whole team are wolves, so when the top brass insist on some diversity in the team they know it will cause problems.
This is a very exciting story full of dangerous situations and heroic moments. A stalker that is even more dangerous than the normal villains, and out of control pheromones spice it all up even more.
It is part of a series but each book can be read on it’s own.
I loved it.
Now that Gage has found his ‘One’ the others on the team have hope that maybe some day they will find their ‘One’ as well.
Heading to a meeting at headquarters, Xander and Gage only expect Deputy Chief Mason to be present. They know nothing good can come from this meeting when the other attendees are Chief Curtis accompanied by Hayes from HR and James a department lawyer.
Their implications of Gage’s Team being sexist since there are no women on the team, is followed by ludicrous suggestions of unqualified females to rectify that fact.
I’m not sure who I felt worse for, Xander or Khaki. They both felt the extreme attraction, avoiding it would only make things worse.
Hiding the truth is never a good thing and makes for some very interesting moments as these too start seeing each other outside of work hours.
A tense, intriguing, emotional and action packed read! Moving on to the next one since the next book in the series comes out the end of this month.
Fun story! The book was filled with action and sweet hotness. I loved this take on the traditional shifter story. I fell for the characters and will be reading the others. It was such a fun, flirty, sweet read. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a lighter and softer shifter story; without all the pain and darkness.
