“An unmissable series!” -Samantha Young, New York Times bestselling author of On Dublin Street “This is the stuff swoons are made of.” Wendy Higgins, New York Times bestselling author of Sweet Evil In this special eBook version, experience OBSIDIAN, ONYX, and OPAL as told by Daemon Black… I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it. And trouble’s … moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.
And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.
But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can’t stop myself from wanting her–or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy–the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.
Falling for Katy–a human–won’t just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen…

Important notice: I’ve read the kindle/eBook version and from what I understand it is different from the print version. The kindle version includes the first three books (Obsidian, Onyx and Opal) from Daemon’s POV. For my reread of this book I’ve decided to do something different. I’ve read the book simultaneously with the other books from Katy’s POV. I really liked doing it this way since I immediately was able to envision the scene’s from both their POV’s. This might not be enjoyable for everyone, so see what works for you. There are many different options as you could also just read it after Opal. What I liked the most about readings Daemon’s POV is that you now understand the reasoning behind his actions better. He still is Daemon, he still is arrogant, but he’s also just a guy/alien trying to protect the ones he loves (and I can’t blame him for that). It was also nice to see that there were extra scene’s that we did not read about in the books from Katy’s POV and it was also really nice to know what happened when Katy was not around. Definitely a must read for fans who already loved the books from Katy’s POV.

This, and the other four books in the Lux series were wonderful! What would you do if you moved next door to a gorgeous, wise-cracking alien? I couldn’t put these books down, moving from one to the next with lightning speed. I only wished there were more when the series finished.
great, epic YA series. Relatable FMC, interesting sci-fi concept
1. Obsidian (13/04/2020)
When Oblivion first came out, I read it in one go and I couldn’t get enough. This time round, I am alternating between Katy’s and Daemon’s POV and I must such that the experience this time round is much better. There is something special about alternating between the books and see the events enfold through both set of eyes.
I am so happy that Jennifer decided to write this book because being in Daemon Black’s head is a treat. You saw how much of a douche he is to Katy in Obsidian but in Oblivion you get to the bottom of drives him to act the way he does. You see him constantly struggle between doing what is right for his family and his growing attraction for Katy. Every time he is reminded of his dead brother, he lashes out and does everything in his power to push Katy away, just so history does not repeat itself. It was honestly heartbreaking to watch.
I pondered telling her everything. How just being around her made me smile more than I had in years. How I admired her spunk and the way she stood up for herself, and especially the way she stood up to me and my bullshit. As a warm feeling started to grow in my chest, I nipped that shit in the bud pronto, with an image of my dead brother and the human he’d fallen for squaring my jaw. No, it was still better if we went our separate ways.
He really bared his soul to us and it really pulled at my heartstrings to see how bad he felt for his moments of dickdom. He didn’t like causing Katy pain but felt like there was no other way. I especially adored the moments when Katy’s was not conscious or when he decided to speak in his own language. That’s when he really let his guard down.
Her unfocused gaze drifted over my face. “You… you really are pretty.”
A surprised laugh bust out of me. “Thanks, Kitten.”
Yeah, she was totally high and out of it, but her smile widened as her eyes closed. I wasn’t high or out of it when I whispered back to her, “So are you.”
I felt like the poor guy had too much responsibility on his shoulders. Because he was the strongest and fastest among the Luxen community, a lot of expected of him, including mating a fellow Luxen to produce next generation of strong and fast Luxen. It was hard seeing him struggle with that on top of his emotions for Kat. He tried to fight it at every turn, which made him act like a dick.
What I felt for Kat was complicated and twisty. I liked her, but I didn’t. I also liked wolves, but I didn’t want one as a pet.
On the other hand, he sometimes acted like a dick to just get a rise out of her which worked almost every time. Because if there is one thing that Daemon excels at, it is being a douche.
And there it was. The spark in her eyes was a blazing fire now, and I was fighting a full-on grin. Damn, she wasn’t just cute anymore. She was much, much more and my stomach sank.
We also were gifted with some scenes are dialogues that did not happen in Obsidian which was extremely nice. I especially enjoyed Daemon and Katy’s trip to the bookstore. Poor Daemon, he really needs to do something about his serious case of blue balls!
2. Onyx (19/04/2020-22/04/2020)
The longer I spend in Daemon’s head, the more I love him.
Onyx in Daemon’s POV is a gem, full of dialogues and scenes that we didn’t get in the original Onyx. I especially love the one where Daemon makes Katy to make him pancakes and it didn’t quite turn out the way he expected. I’d say he won’t be eating pancakes again any time soon!
Another thing that I greatly enjoyed was the moments between Dee and Daemon. You can feel the love that they have for each other and how they would do anything to protect the other.
While being in Daemon’s head is great, I can’t help but feel a little sad. It was difficult to see him being disappointed and upset with Katy for the way she was acting. All he wanted to do was to protect her, but she defied him every step of the way. To be honest, I probably would not have gone as easy on her as Daemon has if I were in his shoes.
I needed to trust that Kat could… handle herself. If I didn’t, there would be no chance for us. And there has to be a chance.
I really wish that Katy had as much trust in Daemon as he did in her. Things could have turned out a whole lot different if she did.
It was the little things that made this book special. Daemon subscribing to Katy’s blog I thought was incredibly sweet. And I love Daemon’s ability to make everything sound sexual, even something so simple like socks. And I have incredibly soft spot for Daemon’s playfulness.
Walking toward her slowly, I stopped in front of her. “I’m not going to bite.”
“That’s good.”
“Unless you want me to.”
But the thing I loved the most was Daemon’s inner thoughts only we as readers could see. How he laid himself bare for us. How he showed us that beyond that arrogant, cocky front was actually vulnerable man with incredible soft side that he only showed to the ones he cared about.
I held her tight, and I knew right then I would burn down the whole universe for her if I had to. I would do anything to keep her safe. Kill. Heal. Die. Anything. Because she was my everything.”
His interaction with Adam has also made me like Adam a lot more which makes it even worse to witness the consequences of Katy’s actions. There is no way that Adam is related to Ash and Andrew. Is there such a thing as Luxen adoption? Because he is the polar opposite of those two; he is supportive, kind, non-judgmental. Dee has great taste in guys. She really could have thought Katy thing or two because before she got with Daemon, Katy’s taste in guys was less than stellar.
Thankfully, from now on Daemon and Katy will present a united front which I am excited to read about again. Opal, here I come!
3. Opal (26/04/2020-29/04/2020)
Man, what a journey this has been. You thought you knew Daemon when you read these in Katy’s POV, but you do not know Daemon, truly know him, until you get into his head.
It’s truly great to see Daemon interact with his siblings. It was one of my favourite things to see while reading Opal . You see how much it affects him to have Dawson back and how happy it makes him when Dawson slowly finds way back to his old self. How Dee, even when she is still upset and angry with Daemon from events that happened in Onyx , is still there for Daemon no matter what. The familial bond the three siblings share is truly amazing and something to aspire to.
Dawson turned and then stopped, facing me. His voice was hoarse when he spoke. “I’m glad you’re okay. I…I couldn’t deal with losing you.”
Daemon’s relationships with Matthew and Thompson siblings were also nice to see. How they can be complete assholes to each other, but then be there for one another when it really counts. It shows that family runs deeper than blood, and that no matter what they can rely on each other.
As I looked around the living room, seeing my friends and Kat, I realized then that even though Matthew and the Thompson siblings shared no blood with me, they really were true definition of family. Only this kind of family would continue to be a part of this craziness, risking their freedom and lives.
Of course, I absolutely loved scenes where Daemon and Katy got some alone time. Most of the time it did not last very long before reality came crashing down, but the tender moments these two shared made my heart race.
I love you.
No way would I ever grow tired of hearing those three words. They made me shudder. Made me want to gather her up and keep her safe. Made me want to be a better… being for her.
Also how sexy is it that even Mountain Man wants a piece of Daemon? Looks like no one can resist our sexy Luxen! And how weird is it that the club that they go into to meet Luc is called The Harbinger? Is foreshadowing at works here?
There is a lot going on in this book, some good, some bad and some downright ugly. There were happy tears, there were sad tears, there was death and there were betrayals. Opal shredded me to pieces and I would not have it any other way. Going to start Origin right now to make my self feel better! Cannot wait for the Daedalus to get taste of their own medicine.
Wonderful and Much Needed… I cannot stop thinking about this story. Seeing things from purely Daemon’s perspective filled gaps existing in Obsidian and Onyx that almost made me stop reading the Lux Series. Parts of both bothered me because it appeared so terribly one-sided. However, Oblivion, exploded my understanding and left me desperate for more. Written in the detail rich, angsty mind trip, conversational style I have come to love from Jennifer Armentrout, Oblivion tied together all the needed tiny pieces of Katy and Daemon’s saga and left me appreciating their struggle for the life they truly wanted even more.
My only complaint, the numerous spelling errors and misplaced words throughout. Unlike the five books before it, which were stellar and carefully written, this volume appeared rushed, lacking the attention to editing detail of the others making it a bit distracting at times. Regardless, I would love, love, love if Origin and Opposition had Daemon viewpoint editions as well.
Again, I love, love, love this series and would read 100 more, as there’s seems to be so much more to tell, so many wonderful possibilities!
Loved it! The first 3 books as told by Daemon. Freaking excellent. It does get a little repetitive because you know exactly what is happening, but it’s interesting to see the same wonderful scenes from an awesome character’s perspective!
Love the alien love story

Review:
I loved it! I handled my reread a bit differently this time. I couldn’t not read it all in Daemon’s pov as well.
So basically this book contains Obsidian, Onyx and Opal in Daemons pov. Most scenes are the same but there are some extra scenes as well that we didn’t get in the original books.
I loved seeing things from Daemon’s point of view. To see what he was thinking in the beginning. How he feels about everything. It made me love him more.
What is this book about:
Like I said above this book is the first three in Daemons point of view. You don’t have to read Obsidian, Onyx and Opal. You could begin the series with this one but it would be more fun to read both.
Oblivion 1.5
Daemon black isn’t your normal highschool guy. He is hot and arrogant and he knows it. What people don’t know it that he isn’t human, in fact he and his siblings are aliens . They came to earth many years ago after their own planet blew up and have lived on earth ever since.
Deamon thought he was lucky that the house next to his was empty only to discover his luck has ran out. Not only did new people move it, it’s a girl the same age as him and his sister. Knowing his sisters ability to be friends with anyone, and the risk of exposure he tries everything to keep the girl next door, Katy away from him and his sister. Not everything goes according to plan though.
Daemon thought it would be easy, that Katy would just leave. What he didn’t expect is that the girl he thought average wasn’t so average, and as he likes to put it, kitten got claws.
Oblivion 2.5
The story picks up right where we left it in Oblivion 1.5. Katy and Daemon share a connection. Daemon knows that connection isn’t what made him like Katy or make him attracted to her but Katy is hell bent on believing otherwise. Daemon however wouldn’t be Daemon if he walked away from a challenge. He is trying his best to convince Katy they are perfect together and that he always liked her but indeed had a shitty way of showing it.
When this new guy comes to town, bard, benny, what’s is name, oh yeah Blake, Daemon thought it wouldn’t get more complicated that that. But when Katy experiences things she shouldn’t, and Blake seems awfully interested in her. Daemon tries his hardest to help katy and keep Blake away. However there are things that even Daemon can’t keep from happening, nomatter how hard he tries or nomatter how different he wants things to be.
Daemon knew he should have trusted his own gut, his instincts. Now things have changed, and it might not be for the better.
Oblivion 3.5
Things happened in the second book that Daemon never expected. His brother wasn’t dead. He’s alive and he’s home. If only that was the end of it. Instead of wanting to stay the hell away from Daedalus Dawson is hell bent on going back to get Beth. And Daemon is hell bent on not letting that happen. It’s eating away from his time he gets to spend with Katy.
However when Katy promises that they, she and daemon would help Dawson get Bethany back. They have to do things her rather not. But he can’t complain, he got Katy.
Now they need to get Bethany back for Dawson and all will be oke……he hopes.
What did I like about this book:
I love seeing what goes around in Daemons head. Book 2 is still my least favorite. I got so frustrated and impatience with Katy. And seeing it through Daemons eyes didn’t help.
I loved seeing all my old favorite scenes again but also the new ones. It made me fall in love with daemon more.
And my heart broke for him in certain scenes.
In my opinion, If you love Daemon and the Lux series, you’d want to read this book!
Rating:
5 Amazing Stars.
Omg!! I love the lux series. I highly recommend it! It was better than twilight! There is his and her version of the book 1 to read both and it is an amazing series.
