But war with the vampires has thinned their ranks, so the Council has drafted Harry as … Council has drafted Harry as a Warden and assigned him to look into rumors of black magic in the Windy City.
As Harry adjusts to his new role, another problem arrives in the form of the tattooed and pierced daughter of an old friend—all grown up and already in trouble. Love love this series. It only gets better with each book. The growth you watch Harry go through as he makes decisions and the ramifications of those choices continue to change Harry as he fights to keep those he cares about safe
I have enjoyed everything I have read by Jim Butcher, but the Harry Dresden books are by far my favorites. This one returns to the more lightheartedness of the earlier books in the series and is a little less intense than some of the later ones.
Jim Butcher never fails… this is one of my favorite series ever.
I love Harry Dresden and his world. He is an old fashioned gentleman and a fierce Wizard fighting to save the world and often having to fight with those he would rather fight against. His allies are diverse and fun or scary, his enemies are scary and sometimes his allies. It’s a great series and this is just one of the many gems.
Love everything Harry Dresden!
I love all of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files books and have read them all more than once. They make me laugh out loud but are also action packed. Highly recommend!
Butcher’s private eye goes through the mysteries he is hired to solve as does any investigator until the magical relm intervenes. Then is is on to spells and running, lots of running. I throughly enjoyed each off the Harry Dresden books and have read each at least twice. If you liked Harry Potter, Harry Dresden is the Mike Hammer to Potter’s Hardy Boys.
Dresden is top notch and always entertaining. Have read the entire series and simply want more.
Jim Butcher is a master.
have enjoyed all of Jim Butcher’s books
I love Jim Butchers writings.
Enjoy Butcher. Great story teller
All his books are very good reads.
All of the Harry Dresden series of books are excellent, as are most other books by Jim Butcher. If you have aome money and don’t know what book series to start reading, I can heartily endorse everything by Butcher. I buy anything by him as it comes out.
I loved every last Harry Dresden novel, and I miss him! I’ve been searching for another hero like Harry, but no one quite measures up. If you like urban fantasy, the Harry Dresden series is a no-miss.
I liked everything about this book and all of the Dresden File books. Jim Butcher is a fabulous writer. You get totally involved with his characters and plot lines. I have reread his books several times and will read them all again. Can’t wait for his next one and all those that follow.
Liked this one very much as it is the beginning of the training of Molly carpenter and back story on charity her mother. Also the onset of the disease informing Harry’s godmother lea.
Ya gotta love harry, he always lands on his feet (maybe a little worst for wear) but he sure keeps you rooting for him. Have read all Dresden books and wondering if anymore are coming.
