Hope Coleson is having a doozy of a day.
Wrongly terminated from her menial waitressing job? Check
Abruptly evicted from her run down apartment with prime views of the graffiti painted dumpster? Double check.
Thoroughly bedded by a smoking hot man with smooth moves and zero communication skills? Triple X check.
And it doesn’t end there. Estranged family members are showing up like bad pennies, … up like bad pennies, her precious savings account has been wiped clean, and she may or may not have a stalker.
So what’s a desperate girl to do, but try her hand at love?
Retired Navy SEAL Beckett Smith doesn’t make mistakes.
Yes, he drinks his way to the bottom of a beer bottle or six, on one too many occasions.
Sure, he’s a well educated man who prefers to communicate at a level only slighter higher than your average poodle.
And yeah, he lost his legendary control and slept with his boss’s sister, stripping her of more than just her clothes before making a quick getaway.
Only it doesn’t end there. Isolation isn’t providing the peace he’s seeking, the boss he considers a friend is ready to hand him a beat down and a pink slip, and the girl he can’t stop thinking about is suddenly parked on his doorstep.
So what’s a jaded guy to do, but take a chance on love?

A love story with a determined young woman and a slightly tormented vet. Well edited.
Hope is the little half-sister of Asher, partner in Scorpio Security. Beckett works for Asher, and was a Navy SEAL. They meet at Sam and Ali’s wedding. Beckett is a guest and Hope is working for the hotel. Except they don’t really exchange names, just a bit of passion. After, Beckett bounces out the door, and shortly thereafter Ash is walking through it. Ash is none to happy with Hope, and even unhappier when she is fired for consorting with a guest. Hope tells Ash she doesn’t need help, although she is now jobless, homeless, and since someone cleaned out her bank account – broke. Desperate, she takes a job as a waitress at a strip club, and begins sleeping in her car to save money. One of her favorite places to park and sleep turns out to be the curb in front of Beck’s house. He offers her a room, and tries to watch out for her. It isn’t too long until Hope cannot stay out of Beck’s bed and Beck doesn’t want her to. Eventually, Beck finds out someone is stalking Hope. He immediately goes into security mode, finds her stalker and what happened to her money. Ultimately, her daddy is trying to manipulate her into coming back home. Hope isn’t having it, or Beck’s interference, and takes off to finish her last year of college in Denver. Meanwhile, Beck is dealing with the demons left for his time overseas. Before he can go after Hope, he needs to get himself healthy. Fortunately for him, he has a whole group of friends that care deeply for his well being. Will Beck be able to conquer his demons and get Hope back?
Once again, the hero just gets to the heart. He is troubled deeply by what he has survived overseas, and has fallen into the arms of alcohol. Will he be able to conquer both the demons and the hold of alcohol? Hope is one strong and determined young lady. She wants to help Beck – and love him and be with him – and she wants to stand on her own, apart from the manipulations of her father. We also learn a bit more about Hope and Asher’s childhood. Looking forward to more of the men from Scorpio Security. Enjoy!
I absolutely ADORE Hope!! No wishy washy whiny heroine here..life threw a lot of darkness at her, but she never let life knock her down, she chose light, she was such a beautiful, independent soul, full of brightness and lived up to her name HOPE..and what’s not to love about Beckett, a broken man with a huge heart, who feels like he doesn’t deserve this light in his darkness…an alcoholic who is fighting his own demons…so beautifully written, you feel Beckett’s pain from his childhood, his PTSD, his addiction, and his struggle to believe he deserves to have Hope in his life. Loved this story, look forward to more from Scorpio Security
Hope Coulson is heiress to the Coulson Creek Winery, but only if she plays by her father’s rules. When Hope decides to make her own way in life, she finds herself out of a job and out of her apartment on the same day. She also just had her first (and only) sexual encounter with a hotter than sin man with moves smoother than silk and zero communication skills. With no alternatives other than to go crawling back to daddy, Hope is left to sleeping in her car and taking a new job as a cock-tease waitress in a strip club.
Beckett Smith, retired Navy Seal and employee of Scorpio Securities, finds himself way to tempted by the sexy waitress at his boss’s wedding. When he finds himself feeling way too much after their up close and personal encounter, he leaves to bury himself in the bottle once again. Even though he claims he wants no ties to anyone, Beck can’t seem to help himself when he finds his stunning one night stand sleeping in her car parked beneath the Jacaranda Tree on his property and offers Hope a place to stay.
While Hope struggles to earn back her savings which mysteriously disappeared as well as avoids her possible stalker, Beck struggles to keep himself sober and unattached . . . especially when he finds out his new roommate is his boss’s sister. However, life doesn’t always play fair and has plans that keep tossing Hope and Beck towards each other. Both find themselves falling hard and fast . . . but will that be enough to have them committing to more than the summer?
Wrong then Right was a great addition to the Love Happens series by Jodi Watters. Two imperfect people really can be perfect for each other. I loved the main characters in this book. Both Beck and Hope are beautifully flawed and look at life as complete opposites, yet they are drawn to one another and form a relationship so right. Even being right, however, relationship takes work, and that brings about the true beauty of this book. It is real and honest and shows that love is not always easy, but oh so worth the effort!
This book is wonderfully written with great, in depth characters that are extremely relatable. There is fantastic dialogue, fun secondary characters and a great story with some unexpected plot twists. A five star read for me! Cannot wait to see what is next for this series.
This is a standalone Book 2 in the series. This is Beck and Hope’s story. Beck is be one of the most beautifully described heroes I have ever read. I really wanted to look into his gorgeous green eyes. The author does a remarkable job describing his challenges after leaving the military and reintegrating as a civilian. He has some issues that he must learn to deal with. Ultimately, after hiding from and skirting his issues for a while it is Hope and how he feels about her that forces him to address them and make changes.
Hope is one tough cookie. This girl has been through a lot. I really appreciated the description of how she and Beck initially get together. It felt very real to me. It was not perfect, and her emotions felt true. I liked how she was working to solve her problems on her own and maintain her independence, though I am not certain that was really the best call. I do understand why she took the actions she did.
This author has a style of novel that contain some mystery/drama along with the steam and deep love. I was hooked completely and was very emotionally vested in Beck. This is probably my favorite book in the series so far as I really loved how Beck and his struggle was handled. I like how the other members are part of each book and that some of the missions are included so the reader understands how brave these men are. It contributes to the understanding of the brotherhood they share, the darkness in what they do, and the struggle to balance that darkness with light in their life with love and hope for the future.
I highly recommend this series, and especially this book.
There is so much content in this story. Some of it sad and heartbreaking and the rest a glowing light of hope .
Beckett has demons that are taking away his control and he is on a slippery slope. I liked how even though he found the woman he loved he needed his journey to be completed by himself and not some love saves the day scenario.
Hope had all my love and devotion from page one! Her childhood ….. heartbreaking, however, she had so much positivity and fight. She kept smiling, loving and standing up to her controlling father. Her selflessness, specifically for me, when she left her bad day blanket for Beckett….. honest to goodness tears were running down my face as my heart twisted for both of them.
Love Jodi’s writing style and her characters are great!
