Wasn’t sure where the book was headed at first, but it’s a total fun read. Part romance, a little part mystery. Gracie, trying to make it in an actors world, (thus quiet not famous) and the romantic snafu she is in at the beginning of the book make it a great quick light summer read.

I laughed so much throughout this book. Romantic comedy and that is just what it is. I love the characters and it was just an overall fun read.

Graciella Corsini, whom everyone calls Gracie, answered the phone and was told to stay away from someone’s husband. She figured it was Alicia White, the wife of her married boyfriend who claimed to be in an open marriage. Evidently he lied. She called Christopher to let him know the wife called and that Gracie was now aware he lied to her. When she hung up, she realized she was crying and her roommate of two years, Jane Romero, tried to console her. Gracie was most upset at being so stupid. She now realizes that when she asked if he had an understanding with his wife or an open relationship, he had responded with a question – would he be asking her out if he didn’t?
Christopher called her back and begged to see her in person. Jane kept shaking her head NO, but Grace agreed to meet at a coffee shop at 10 and if he was late, she would be gone. He was already there when she arrived, telling her about how his wife got on drugs, etc. – and then the wife stormed into the café. When she slapped Gracie, Gracie threw her glass of water in her face – oops, that was Christopher’s coffee. At least it had cooled a bit. Gracie then told her they were both lied to, but if she ever touched her again… and that IS a threat! Declaring the relationship over, Gracie left and went home.
Christopher came back a week later, wanting to reconcile because he loves Gracie. But because his happiness was not her job, he was a liar and unfaithful, and all the other things she could point out, he went into a rage. As if that were not bad enough, Jane announced that there were 20 voice messages from Alicia, threatening and crazy, each one more violent than the previous one. How long was this going to go on? And now she feels like someone is watching her! Ten minutes later, Alicia forces her way into the apartment and threatens to kill Gracie if she comes near her husband again. She won’t listen to the truth.
Gracie, an actress who likes doing bit parts, being an extra so that her dyslexia doesn’t give her problems learning lines, is called in for a bigger role. She has the time to learn her audition lines and impresses everyone with her delivery. She gets the part and the filming begins. The man who plays her boyfriend usually walked with her to the subway station, but today he stayed behind to help pack up some things. As Gracie passes an alley, two men are facing each other, so she foolishly stops to watch what looks like a drug deal! When she is noticed, one man runs and the other approaches her. For some reason, he doesn’t harm her and listens as she tells him she was lost in her own thoughts and not paying attention. Jane was horrified at the tale, and then shows Gracie a shoebox with an animal cut to pieces. This seems too over-the-top for Alicia! Would the drug dealer be threatening her? Are the threats finally severe enough to scare her?
I really enjoyed this book! The story line was good and well-paced to keep the action interesting. The characters were developed well and very likable. The dialog was perfect and expertly captured the mood of whatever was happening at the time. This lets the reader feel real emotions and reactions and become more invested in the story. I loved the way Gracie lived life to the fullest and quickly bounced back, fighting sometimes, at whatever came at her. She was a strong, delightful character. Nothing was wasted in this story line – everything enhanced and made it so much better in the telling. Grab your copy and enjoy a fun, well-written book!
This was so much fun. It was a light, entertaining, candy floss kind of read. Did it change my world? No. Did I come out of it with a grand epiphany? Also no. But did I have fun reading it? Absolutely yes! With the way the story started out, I had a moment of doubt if I was going to be able to like Gracie. I don’t like love triangles and cheating is a hot button topic for me. I was really impressed with the mature way that topic develops throughout the book. I loved the banter Gracie seems able to have with everyone. It helped all those secondary characters come alive in my imagination. Now, I’d love the chance to read about the rest of the Corsini family.

Huh, to say I was disappointed when I started reading this book would be, I can’t even find a word and I refuse to give it more thought after giving enough of my time with this book. When I started reading I have to say that I almost just stopped and grabbed another book, but I said considering it received so many stars I should give it a chance. I wasn’t crazy about Gracie, I didn’t think she used her brain very much. It did have its funny moments and it didn’t end up being as bad as I had thought at the beginning, but do I need to continue to read from this family and author, probably not. It didn’t deserve 2 stars though.

Very disappointing. I was looking forward to this book. There is nothing like a book that offers a good laugh. However, I didn’t find any humour in this book. I found Gracie, the female character really annoying. She is a kind of fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants kind of girl, very irresponsible, thinking that she can outsmart a couple of drug dealers, not to mention ones that dabble in murder on the side. She seems to be a magnet for married man and I have found Julian’s almost instant admission of undying devotion totally forced. and premature. She is pretty laid back about her first married boyfriend’s addict wife who apart from other things sends her a mutilated Guinea Pig. The story didn’t offer any kind of cohesion or real direction. If this story had actually happened to anyone in reality as the last sentence in the book suggests , I can only say the person got off lightly. Giving up the bodyguard detail and ignoring the danger from the drug dealers is certainly not the smartest move. I was shouting at the book so many times in frustration. Gracie was portrayed as such a flake. Shame because the story had potential. On the plus side, we are rewarded with a HEA, after Julian gets a divorce. We all like different things and I assume I prefer stronger personalities than Graciella.. It does however presents an insight into the world of TV Soap Opera production, which was interesting.
