Spencer Shrike is a plotter. Known for his ingenious, albeit illegal, plans that keeps the Team running efficiently and out of jail, he carries this same love of order into his personal life. He’s kept his long-time main squeeze on the sidelines for years as he builds the Shrike Bikes empire.Veronica Vaughn is an explosion ready to happen. Ronnie lives in the here and now. She lives for today. … today. She knows what she wants, and she wants it now. And right now Ron the Bomb Vaughn wants Spencer shrike to leave her the hell alone. She’s done playing his game. She’s done waiting around. She’s moving forward with her own plots, plans, and dreams and she’s moving forward tonight. Ron the Bomb is finally—finally—gonna get some satisfaction.
Too bad Spencer Shrike is standing in her way.

Spencer’s book was the one I was least interested in, but I’ll admit after this novella, I am curious about him. He genuinely cares for Veronica, and she for him but wants a forever, so why has he not made the move? I suspect the next will play into this a lot more.
This short little intro into the life of Spencer Shrike was great! If only Veronica knew what he was doing to protect her. I felt awful for her through this whole intro. Imagine completely living a guy and thinking he’s dating everyone but you, spreading all his time on everyone else but you but he still strings you along. That’d be an awful feeling. But I see how Spencer is thinking it’s the best for her.
Oh yeah Spence. I have mega love for all the other characters but Spencer, good god he’s my favorite! I dug Ronnie in the other books and she was great in this one. I loved getting their backstory, and boy does he want his Bombshell, but she’s done. I don’t blame her though, I’d be sick and tired of being a doormat. But alas, he’s taking care of business so he can make her his.
One gl8mpse of Veronica Vaughn is all that Spwncer Shrike needed to know that she’s his “one.” After plotting and planning or in Spencer’s words “recon,” he gets his Bombshell. Veronica “Ronnie” is an artist stuck working in her family’s tattoo shop whether she wants to or not. She’s trying for a better and different life. Spencer helps her out behind the scenes. No one can associate the two of them until after the trial is over. He’s been protecting her all this time by staying distant . Now it may have backfired on him because his beloved Bombshell is moving on.
“It’s like life shifted. Everything became real. You make me real, Ronnie. You started my heart. You are the missing piece…”
Both “Bomb” and “Guns” bring us insight into the forever love that Spencer cherishes with Veronica aka Ronnie, the Bomb, and Bombshell. So much so, that he has to stay away from her for fear of her being drawn into the danger that he and and his team now find themselves. He does not want one little hair on her head harmed and he is also extremely protective of her family. He is partially successful at staying away but when a man loves a woman there is only so much sainthood he can muster.
Ronnie knows deep in her heart that Spencer Shrike truly loves her but his actions are infuriating and extremely hurtful. She needs his love. She needs a change. She is getting more and more paranoid about the blood involved in her tattooing her clients. She does not appreciate the fact that she is a world class tattoo artist. She is tired of the mixed messages from Spencer and wants to move on.
Guns tells the story of their love affair from the beginning and shows the shenanigans that Ronnie gets into trying to find her place in the world and/or getting the attention of Spencer. We also gain insight into the character of Spencer and his role on “the team”. It is a very exciting conclusion to the story of the team and a beautiful resolution to the love that Spencer and Ronnie share.
Spencer is that delicious, funny ,hard working, and brilliant, football player built Adonis, Alpha male. I remember him when he first began painting Rook and how gently he breathed upon her lower region while he was painting her body. He is powerful sexy. Veronica is simply “the Bombshell”! She is built like a pin-up girl with long flowing blonde hair. The sex between these two is some heady, powerful lovemaking!!! The scenes leave the reader weak in the knees.
These two books are like the whipped cream on a dessert or more likely the sauce, chocolate or otherwise. Yes, it’s the sauce. Sometimes a simple sauce holds the secret to the delicious taste; pulls the whole dessert together; and is perhaps the most delicious component to the creation. Congratulations, Ms. Huss on a well made delicious tasting dessert, most especially the delicious sauce you put a ton of in these last two books of the series.
