When two young Amish men find love, will they risk losing everything?Isaac knows his sinful desire for David is forbidden. In the strict Amish settlement of Zebulon, Minnesota, every detail of life—down to the width of a hat brim—is dictated by God and the all-powerful rules of the community. There’s no rumspringa for exploration beyond the boundaries of their insular world. Isaac will soon have … world. Isaac will soon have to officially join the church and take a wife, but he yearns for freedom.
He yearns for David.
When he becomes David’s carpentry apprentice, Isaac discovers he’s not alone in his longing. Passion ignites amid sweat and sawdust. Somehow, Isaac and David must reconcile their deepening love for each other with their commitment to faith, family, and community.
Now that they’ve found each other, are they willing to lose it all?
A Forbidden Rumspringa by Keira Andrews is a gay romance and the first book in a series of forbidden Amish love. It contains steamy exploration, forced proximity, Jane Austen levels of pining, and of course a happy ending.

This is book 1 in a trilogy of books, and I have just started book 3. I absolutely love David and Isaac. Their story is pure romance, and I devoured the book in one sitting. Highly recommended, beautiful, raw and honest writing. Gorgeous.

Other books by Kiera I have read and loved: Kidnapped by the Pirate , Cold War: Figure Skating Gay Romance , Beyond the Sea
Great book. Educational also as I knew very little of the Amish community. Loved the characters.
Interesting view into Amish life.
I’ve never tried an Amish romance before but picked this one up on sale and grabbed the audio to listen. A different kind of Forbidden romance but very enjoyable and I love the main characters of Issac and David. The challenges faced by them coming to terms with being gay and discovering each other is brilliantly written and passionately told by John Solo.
Wow, there are so many deep feelings. I can’t image the pain of feeling like you have no choice and are afraid of your own thought. This story is nail biting waiting for any moment for something to happen. This was dramatic right to the end. I can’t wait to read the next book. I listened to the Audible version and the narration was well done.
This was definitely a different twist on the Amish genre. Actually, I’d say it was more a M/M book set in an Amish background. It was steamy but not extremely explicit.
I didn’t care for this book … it’s difficult to believe that anyone who believes in God would think that He would have us live such stingy and mean lives as these people lived. I’ve read many Amish related books and yet, this one really turned my stomach. Just really too much! To think that parents would inflict this life on their children is unthinkable. I realize that there are two books following this one but I will never read them.
A cute gay romance that takes a serious look at the Amish community.
Poorly written and trite.
Too unbelievable. I love my gay friends, but they are like me…un-perverted, fairly “normal”. This book wanted you to believe that the older of the couple was new to this gay game, his “first time”, raised in the Amish ways, etc. yet the things he knew, the “love murmurs” were so filthy and disgusting that you just know that he’s met men in the roadside rest before, read gay erotica before, been around the block a few times. I had thought it would be a sweet romance which just happened to take place between two members of the same sex. I was wrong. If you are “into” gay erotica, this book is for you. If you are fairly normal white-bread Amish romance loving like me, don’t crack the cover. And as much as I wanted to know what happens to the couple in the continuing saga, I stopped at the one. Too erotica for me.
This is a hard book to categorize. It’s a gay romance, but at the same time it’s an Amish book. How crazy is that?! The writing is good, with a pretty realistic depiction of Amish life in general. Whether there are any Amish gay men who have allowed their true sexual nature to surface, I have no idea. But the premise is interesting, and well carried out.
Excellent story. Interesting look at Amish life.
Sexual encounters too graphic. Book would have been just as appealing without them. Good insight into mores of one Amish sect.
