Life should be good for Maddie Graves and Nick Winters. The only thing standing in the way of their happiness is stubbornness and doubt.
After surviving an ordeal that almost claimed Maddie’s life, and admitting his true feelings (at least to himself), Nick is at a crossroads. He has a girlfriend to break up with, and a move to make. Both tasks are giving him fits.
Maddie is happy to be alive, … be alive, and thrilled to have her best friend back. She’s also panting after Nick – and the early summer heat wave isn’t helping matters. Every new encounter is steamy, and every touch is a promise of forever.
When death returns to Blackstone Bay, Maddie’s special abilities have her chasing another mystery. Nick is going along for the ride, even though he’s afraid for her safety. He knows what he wants, and he’s ready to claim the life he’s always yearned for. He just has to muster the courage to tell Maddie how he feels.
There’s an enemy stalking Nick and Maddie, though, and they’re going to have to embrace ‘together’ before they can sample forever.
Note: This is the second book in the Maddie Graves Mystery series.

Another engaging book by Lily Harper Hart, Grave Insight continues to follow Maddie Graves as she settles back into her hometown and renews her bond with her best friend.
Summary:
Life should be roses and sunshine for Maddie Graves and Nick Winters after reuniting and reforming their friendship bond. Especially after Nick risked his life to save Maddie’s. But doubt and stubbornness still have a firm hold in the space between them. Maddie is happy to move on with her life after the close call, and ecstatic to have her best friend back. But stronger feelings also exist, and she can’t help but want to act on them the more time they spend together. As for Nick, he has a decision to make. After saving Maddie, he’s finally admitted (if only to himself) that his love for her never went away and it won’t. He has a girlfriend to break up with before anything can happen, though. Too bad that is seeming easier said than done. Matters are not helped when death hits Blackstone Bay once again. Maddie saw it coming, but she could have no clue the killer had set their sights on her, too. But Nick is determined to protect the love of his life. From anything. Even an unknown danger lurking ready to steal forever out from under them.
Maddie is settling into her hometown after a close call, and life is changing for everyone. I really like Maddie. She’s a little more innocent and timid than I’d like, but it doesn’t take away from her kind, loving, and thoughtful nature. I still have hope that her self-esteem will continue to grow in the coming books, and we’ll see her with a stronger backbone. I really like seeing her embrace who she is and using her gift to help others. I hope we continue to get more of that. I also mostly like Nick. I especially like how he finally bit the bullet and did what he needed to do. I couldn’t help but feel that he embraced cowardice too much when it came to telling Maddie how he felt. I also felt he handled the Cassidy situation very poorly, therefore earning a portion of the blame for her behavior. I love how protective he is and the blooming possessiveness we are getting to see, though. As a couple, I’m beyond relieved at the progression between Nick and Maddie. Now there are no secrets between him and Maddie. Things are rapidly changing, but in all good ways. They were a little cheesy and gushy, but I also felt after all they’d been through, it was warranted. Overall, I was hooked on this story from beginning to end. In my opinion, the mystery element took a bit of a backseat to the drama surrounding Nick and Maddie, but it was still okay. I think it could have been a bit more fleshed out, though, with more buildup and a few more clues. I also felt a few things were left hanging. For example, Harriet’s run for the Pink Lady Society. I find all of that hilarious and would have loved to see the outcome. I was also disappointed we didn’t see Tara again. I also felt this way with Sarah in book one, so I’m curious what has happened to them after all is said and done. Supporting cast is a wonderful addition to these stories. I love Maude and want to be just like her when I grow up. The woman is feisty and wily. Lol. She’s a lot of fun. Christy is amazing, and I still adore her brutal honesty. I really hope we might get a little side story to see her find some happy while we follow Maddie and Nick’s journey. Cassidy was a complete mess. I cannot believe how she reacted at all, and spent a lot of the time during her scenes with my mouth hanging open in incredulousness. I just could not fathom the hiding. I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy Nick and Maddie’s books as much as I have. There is just something about them that has caught and held my attention. I’m also a sucker for a good friends-to-lovers romance, and Nick and Maddie have a fairytale story. I will definitely be reading on to find out what happens with them next. If you’re looking for a light, cozy mystery with a good dose of paranormal thrown in, Maddie and the town of Blackstone Bay is the perfect solution.
