Paradise, Idaho, may not be the largest town, but for newly minted professor Zoe Santangelo, it’s the first step on the path to her big break. After teaching in a small Idaho school, her next stop is the Ivy League, and no one is going to stand in her way. She’ll do what it takes to move up, to protect her students from a creepy campus stalker–and to protect her heart from Cal Jackson, the hot, … hot, hunky cowboy who keeps coming to her rescue.
After a career-ending injury, Cal has left professional football behind and come home to work the family farm. He’s determined not to get mixed up with any more city girls who don’t want to settle down with a country boy. But after he rescues sassy geologist Zoe from a snowy ditch, he can’t stop thinking about her. Can Cal keep Zoe safe from whoever is targeting her–and can he show her that having ambition doesn’t mean she has to sacrifice love?

Cal Jackson is a swoon-worthy hero. He’s charming, intelligent and extremely likable. As a retired pro football quarterback, he’s seen his share of bright lights and big cities but learned that home is where the heart is, and Cal’s heart belongs on his Paradise, Idaho farm.
Zoe Santangelo considers her new teaching job at a university in Idaho just another stop on her career path to an Ivy League school. Falling in love with Idaho and falling for a smooth-talking cowboy farmer is not on her agenda. But with each passing day, Cal feels more like home than any place or any person ever made her feel.
As their relationship develops, so does the danger surrounding them. By helping one of her students, Zoe catches the attention of a stalker and becomes the next target on the stalker’s deadly to-do list.
The suspense and romance in Carry Me Home drew me in immediately and held my attention all the way to its very satisfying end. For lovers of romantic suspense, this book will not disappoint.
I really enjoyed this romantic suspense. It had just enough suspense and romance where one didn’t dominate the story over the other. The suspense built from the very first page and slowly progressed throughout the story. I really enjoyed this aspect and the scenes from the attackers pov. I’m not gonna lie, I knew who the perpetrator was and thought it was obvious, but I still enjoyed how the character slowly unraveled.
I also really liked Cal and Zoe. They were so great together and the banter between them was so fun. The way Zoe gets on Cal with his controlling behavior and assumptions to Cal trying to get Zoe to dress more like a woman of her age and not clothes he would find on his elderly mother was so fun. Cal really cared about Zoe and I loved how protective he was of her when the attacker had come after her. So good. I also want to know more about Cal’s brother Luke. He was a fantastic character as well.
Carry Me Home was a very enjoyable romantic suspense. Every aspect of this book was nice to read. I can see I am going to enjoy all of Rosalind James’ books.
Great read! A strong storyline with a sensitive topic at its heart, some serious nail-biting, a bit of sniffling, two opposites attracting each other and some serious swoons! I loved Cal and Zoe’s story.
I read quite a bit of Rosalind James works and boy this one was different! Amazing building of the story and I couldn’t figure out the bad guy, and yes there was a bad guy, until the end. Great job
This is one of those books you just don’t want to put down. The suspense of this book was wonderful. The introduction of the two main characters was wonderful. The ex-jock, hometown hero who came home to find peace and do find himself after an football injury and divorce. A young associate professor at her first teaching job with a father that pushed her in her career and a loving mom who didn’t quite understand her. Bad weather, not good tires and a icy road is a wonderful way to start a book. The young professor who stood up for her student who was being stalked to being stalked herself. To fall in love and not realize that it was better than being alone. But I think the best part of the whole story is that you are reading and thinking that the stalker is one person and when it comes to discovering who really is the stalker you are in for a major surprise. Oh and don’t forget the loyal puppy.
Okay so I actually read this series out of order and read the 2nd book first. I got the 2nd book, Luke’s story from Netgalley, loved it so much that I had to go back and buy the first one so I could get some yummy Cal. And Cal did not disappoint. I loved Cal, loved his sense of humor. My God the things he said. He had me laughing all through the book. I thought he was sexy, sweet, and playful. Cal had a heart of gold. I really liked Zoe too, but she drove me nuts at times. Zoe had some daddy issues. I could understand why she had the issues she had, and why she was so driven. But I love Cal and felt super protective of him so it annoyed me when she kept him at arms length hurting him, even if I liked her and could understand her.
I loved Cal’s parents and of course I loved all the Luke I got in this book. Mmmm the yummy Jackson brothers. I would like for Rochelle, Zoe’s best friend to get a book. The plot was great. I had no clue who the bad guy was. I thought it was one guy for almost the whole book, and was shocked when it was someone else. I really enjoyed this book, just not as much as the 2nd one. I really like Rosalind James writing style. I am so glad I found her book Hold Me Close on Netgalley, now I have new beloved author to stalk, and more awesome books of hers to discover.
