A murder mystery, a budding romance, and a dystopian world gracefully integrated into a sci-fi novel that blows away all expectation.
A horrifying and deliciously claustrophobic masterpiece that’s part sci-fi, part dystopian, and entirely brilliant.
Such a fun, interesting series set in a unique world. I really enjoyed the mystery elements and the unlikely romance.

This book was amazing. For me at least. So, the story behind how I got this book is a little strange. I went over to my neighbors house to return her copy of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. We were talking for a while about books and she asks me what I’m reading. As most of the books are re-reads, she shoves the book in my hands and tells me to read. So of course, I did. Half of it in one night. I just couldn’t stop reading. I just kept flipping pages. It’s kinda like the time I had a funnel cake and I told myself I would not to eat all of it and then, next thing I knew it was gone.

Trapped in space and frozen in time, Amy is bound for a new planet. But fifty years before she is due to arrive, she is violently woken, the victim of an attempted murder. Now Amy’s lost on board and nothing makes sense – she’s never felt so alone.
Yet someone is waiting for her. He wants to protect her; and more if she’ll let him.
But who can she trust amidst the secrets and lies? A killer is out there and Amy has nowhere to hide . . .
Things I liked
-It was very exciting. I couldn’t stop turning pages
-Elder was very relatable.
-I personally love dystopian societies.
-The book had some parts in it that reminded me of what is going on in the world now. It helped think through it.
Things I Did Not Like
-Amy whined most of the book about her parents. I can understand it at first, but the entire book come on.
-HOW THE CRAP DID AMY KNOW ABOUT THE WATER.
-If read frex one more time I swear to God.
-It was a little confusing times. I couldn’t keep all the character straight in my mind.
All in all, I loved the book, but the writing sucked. I can;t wrap my head around why I love it so much, but I do. Is that wierd? Happy reading :).
Well written, enjoyed the characters, fun, read all 3 of the series. My only complaint was that it was a little predictable, but I still really liked it and would recommend it for YA readers.
Loved this book and the whole sequel. Great characters, great suspense and powerful romance.
Entirely original, deeply compelling, and totally unputdownable–I’ve found a new favorite!
This was a great mix of Sci-Fi and Dystopian literature. We find ourselves on a ship that’s supposed to help save humanity after Earth, or Sol-Earth, has been compromised. Aboard the ship, we have a totalitarian type government who has found their own way of forcing the people to do what is desired.
I was horrified at the means used to control the people and the population and hate how easily something like this could be implemented even here on earth. It’s scary to think how much control our elected leaders really do have over our lives, even here in America.
Elder and Amy, along with some help from both friends and enemies, discover what’s going on and go about trying to stop it. But there are other problems aboard this ship that I’m assuming we will get to learn more about in the 2nd and 3rd books in this series.
I’m a big fan of dystopian books and I’m not sure why it took me so long to read this one. I like how it’s got the elements needed for a good dystopia, but also is different from others in the genre and intrigues the reader to want to know more and read more. If you like Sci-Fi, Futuristic/Post-Apocalyptic, and/or Dystopian genres, you will probably really enjoy this book.
