Once upon a time, I was Fallon Dunbar.
Rock and roll, drugs, and bad decisions were the life I lived.
I’d fallen so deep into the dark rabbit hole that I was certain I would never make it out alive. People like me didn’t get second chances. People like me didn’t get lifted from the darkness. So when the opportunity showed up, I had to take it.
I walked away from everything I loved, everything … everything that was killing me, and I became Fae Dunham. After that, I hid behind makeup, long sleeves, and a closed-off heart.
All was well until I met Dane Pearson. He wasn’t convinced of the new me, and whenever he was near, I felt like the old me, the real me, filled with passion and a love for music. Every day was a struggle of self-discovery. Every day was a fight to not fall back down the rabbit hole. And every day, somehow, someway, I slowly began to discover what it meant to find myself.
It was a hysteric ride, but it was ours. And I wouldn’t change a thing.

The Hysterics was a roller coaster for me and has all my favorite feels. Fallen aka Fey had made choices she regrets and when she realizes she needs to make some very important changes in her life she finds a way to start over, finds love and be part of the music world she soo loves. She’s got it all in my opinion.
The Hysterics is an emotional rockstar romance about two people who both have dark and painful pasts. Even though they have extremely painful pasts, Dane and Fallon have two gigantic hearts and care deeply when they let people in. I loved this book and everything about Dane and Fallon. Their story is fun, passionate, and powerful. I wasn’t ready to tell these characters bye at the end of the story, but luckily they make appearances in some of Kristen Hope Mazzola’s other works!
I really liked this book!! I liked how it showed you can start fresh and have second chances. You know get your life back and take control of it and make yourself proud of you. And that even if your broken doesn’t mean your not perfect because you are perfect for someone. Of course that’s just what I got out of it and you might get something else out of it. But Dane and Fallon are definitely worth a read. I love the dual pov’s!! The secondary characters are on point and I actually can’t wait to read their books! There was some bouncing around that I didn’t like, there was some that didn’t bother me though I think it might have been the subject at the time. But other than that I was really into this book and couldn’t put it down and would definitely recommend it.- By Tina

THE HYSTERICS is Dane and Fallon’s story. They are both drummers and each is “beautifully broken” by events in their past. Each have walls up and feel unique in their experience yet – “It felt like we were two puzzle pieces that had been missing from each other’s incomplete lives until now.”
This is a quick an easy read that is a little different than the typical “rock star romance”. The characters have a depth to them that is expressed within the story, not told with so much detail that I wanted to skim. Past and present were well told in this story and it flows from beginning to end. I read this book in one sitting and absolutely recommend it.
“love was total agony, fantastic agony”
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This book is a Rockstar romance with a HEA ending.
Fallon is running from her rockstar lifestyle. She’s tired of the parties and drugs and the rockstar boyfriend. So she assumes another name and goes to work for her uncle. Now she just has to make sure nobody recognizes her but it’s hard when the guy she meets has everything she wants. Can she trust him with her secrets?
I really loved this book but who doesn’t love a hot tattooed rockstar.
Fallon was a successful drummer in a successful band until the rock and roll lifestyle almost destroyed her. She has picked up the pieces and started fresh as Fae, an editor for a rock music magazine, but she knows she needs to stay on the outskirts so that she doesn’t repeat her mistakes.
Dane is a drummer for The Hysterics and although not necessary I do recommend that you read Before Hysterics to get the backstory on Dane and the band. He has been damaged by his past and gets through life one day at a time until Fae has him thinking about a future.
They are very attracted to each other but when Fae receives some surprising news they take a step back to friends. He is by her side and their feelings become stronger but is she willing to open up about her past to see what they might have together or are they destined to be only friends?
This is an emotional story about overcoming the mistakes of past and new beginnings. Dane was so supportive, and they made each other stronger.
I have to admit, I went in thinking this book was going to disappoint me. I happened to read a couple reviews, which I rarely do and so I was worried about it. Well, I have to disagree with them. Would I say this was one of my favorite books? No, but I did enjoy their story. Don’t let the negative reviews change your opinion. If this book interests you, then give it a try.
The Hysterics is a sweet rock’n roll romance. It can be read as a standalone, but will leave you wanting more as it’s a quick read. It’s told in both Dane and Fallon’s POV.
Dane is the drummer for The Hysterics at night and online journalist by day. When his new boss walks in, she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.
Fallon had to take her death to break away from a life that would’ve killed her. Her “uncle” helps her by giving her a job at his online publication.
The writing is good and keeps you sucked into the story.
What really drew me in to this story was the sense of light after the darkness, hope renewed and second chances. The character of Fallon really resonated with me. SO worth the read!
Two people trying to move forward in their lives. Both musicians, both drummers, both hiding a world of hurt. Fallon (Fae) was reinventing herself. Her co-worker, Dane was a hot musician. Together they clicked. This story had so many layers to it but the emotions and connections were front and center. “I am in love with who you are behind closed doors, when we’re alone. Deep down you are the girl of my dreams.”
The Hysterics was amazing. Fallon and Dane’s story is real, raw, and mesmerizing. The way they love one another is phenomenal. There are times when Fallon isn’t sure and Dane makes her believe that their love is real. I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next and finished in just a few short hours. The ending shocked me and the prologue made me happy. Kristen’s books hook you from the first page and make you anticipate the next read!
A lovely read!
By the ending of chapter 1, I was intrigued. By the ending of chapter 2, I was hooked!
A novel of second chances, second chance at love, figuring out your true identity and facing your demons.
Full of bands, music, second chances, being true to ypurself and a hot romance.
Perfect for readers of second chance stories.
