Kentucky Wilderness 1797–In this compassionately written tale of romance and renewal, Kelly McGuffin–an innocent victim of violence and neglect–is haunted by shame. At age eighteen, loneliness and danger compel her to leave her remote cabin in the Virginia mountains to travel west with the Wyllie brothers’ family to Boonesborough, Kentucky. Kelly’s feelings … to Boonesborough, Kentucky. Kelly’s feelings for her heroic rescuer, Sheriff William Wyllie, remain confused and obscured beneath her worsening veil of fear. Caught in the unpredictable world of the frontier–both breathtakingly beautiful and shockingly cruel–Kelly is unable to control her uncertain future.
William keeps his intense attraction to Kelly hidden, to give her time to heal and become the strong woman he knows she can be. At the same time, William takes on the challenges of his new role as sheriff of Boonesborough, on the very edge of the wilderness. When Kelly’s heart-rending problems mount with frightening speed as harrowing forces confront her, William seeks to protect Kelly from further trauma, while he guides her to find strength from within. To do that, she must confront the hardest person to be honest with–herself.
Can Kelly untie her tangled emotions and let her heart smile for the first time? Will William’s tender love, and belief in Kelly, heal her soul? Can they come together in time to battle the most disturbing and shocking event of all? Journey to the stunning wilderness of Kentucky and meet a memorable cast of heroes, outlaws, Indians, and settlers. Skillfully written, richly authentic, powerfully dramatic, WHISPERING HILLS OF LOVE, will make you weep, laugh, cringe in fear, fall in love, and remember.
WHISPERING HILLS OF LOVE is the third book in author Dorothy Wiley’s award-winning American Wilderness Series, however each book may be read independently. Like her other three novels in the series, set in what was then America’s West, this inspiring tale confronts issues still relevant today while taking the reader on an action-packed and romantic journey.

Dorthy wriotes well researched historical books with characters that become family. I will buy any book she writes.
After years of pain, Kelly leaves her remote home in the Virginia mountains for the Kentucky wilderness. As she confronts the uncertainties of the frontier, she finds her feelings for handsome sheriff William growing stronger and more complicated. William keeps his attraction to Kelly hidden. He wants to give her time to heal and become the strong woman he knows she can be. Kelly’s heart-rending problems mount with frightening speed as forces confront her. William seeks to protect Kelly from further trauma, but he also helps her learn to find strength from within. To do that, Kelly must confront the hardest person to be honest with, herself. –This book is not what I expected. It is different from books 1 and 2. I liked it better. Kelly had lots of trauma in her life, but her braveness shines through. Daniel is a wonderful character. He is the most book-education of the brothers. He handles himself well and gets along with others. He is smart, honorable and brave. I enjoyed the story and outcomes of the problems.
This was a cute story and easy to read. I like the fact that even though it is part of a series the book can stand by itself.
I’ve just finished this book and I’m so happy I chose it. It was great! I loved it! I love reading stories about the early frontier people and the struggles and hardships they endured. It also tells about the bravery and strong will of some of the frontier men and women when the need arose. Also about the success and happiness they found. It’s truly one of innocent love. I like the way the author used tact and class by not going so much into the intimate details of the lovemaking, but left enough to the readers imagination. Thereby not giving the impression of a smutty sex story. I especially liked the words of the marriage ceremony for William and Kelly that are so beautiful and original, and different from anything I’ve ever read or heard. I think there a touch of Native American in it. I was so impressed by it that I had to copy it for my memory file. The description of the scenery in early Kentucky is refreshing. It was easy for me to give this story five stars. I’m sure others will also enjoy this story. Thank you Book Bub and Amazon for this book offer, and to Dorothy Wiley for being such a talented writer!
Kelly McGuffin has certainly suffered things she should have never had to. During one such awful event she gets rescued by the Wyllie brothers. Over time she befriends the three brothers and learns to heal from her ordeal. She leaves her hometown with the brothers and moves on to Kentucky. William Wyllie takes a position in Boonesborough, Kentucky. This book is full of historical moments in history that depicts the actual events of the times between the natives and the villagers of towns. I loved the strength of the characters in the book.
