The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs”* as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her… life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.
Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.
Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

I love this author’s audios. The narrators did a wonderful job.
I have to say I have loved Painter throughout this series. I like Mel until we got to this book. The first, okay through most of the book I did not like her. I was truly angry at her. I just hated that Painter was having it so hard and Mel was just making it worse. I felt like she was unfair to him when a certain situation had arisen. She dropped a bombshell on her and should of know he would not handle it well at first. She had to know that getting involved with him was not going to be a bed of roses or at least know that every rose had its thorns. It was not toward the end that I started liking her.
This is a great story and there are several hot scenes in it. If you are looking for a good MC audio I would recommend this one.
OK, but not the best, or even the better, of the MC Books I’ve read.
This book throws a few curve balls but teminds us what true family is all about!
I love this series. You need to start with Repear’s Property.
Reapers forever forever Reapers!
Just too dark with unpleasant characters.
Painter has been in love/lust with delicate flower Melody, but knows he should stay away because he will taint her and bring her down. You know, he was right.
In past books, I did not care for Painter as he was wishy washy and a pouter. He was no different in this book. In fact, his behavior and attitude just confirmed it.
Painter is in prison from the last book, and he and Melody write to each other while he is in. When he gets out he ignores her because she’s too good for him blah, blah, blah. They finally get together and things are great. Backstory is he is pulled into help the gang with fighting off cartel stuff and other MC gang stuff.
SPOILER: He and Gage are to act as boy toys if necessary to get info from the other gang. A little hardcore for me. I like my heroes faithful. Painter actually have sex with anyone, but it’s out there.
Plus, you would think that anyone on parole would be a little more careful. Melody ends up pregnant, he accuses her of being unfaithful, acts like an idiot and gets thrown back in prison. END poiler)]
Bottom line, I just don’t like my romance too gritty or too realistic. RF simply crossed the edge for me with both the hero and the heroine. Traditionally, when you have a couple like this there is somewhat of a redemptive power in the relationship and some growth in either the emotions of the characters or personality growth. Heroes like St Vincent from Devil in Winter, almost any of Kristen Ashley’s Chaos gang change and grow. Painter and Melody were stuck in the same ugly pattern for years until one day they weren’t.
I did enjoy the relationship building between the two characters from friends to lovers. Painter had alot of emotional baggage he had to address. My one disliske was that she held a grudge for 5 years, affecting her child.
I have read all of the books in this series. Reaper’s Property was the second MC romance I read several years ago and is one that is on my regular read again list. I agonized on rating this book either 3 or 4 stars and finally went with 3 stars. The first half of the book was very slow and I found myself skipping pages. It seemed to be more about immature, giggly teenagers than mature young women associated with a dangerous MC. Pic’s daughter, Em, came across as a totally different person than the one we read about in Devil’s Game. I really got tired of Melanie sitting on the fence and jerking Painter around but then as much as he groveled for her I can see how she felt she could keep sitting on the fence and using him as long as she desired. The ending was totally weird to me and left me wondering what the hell just happened. I recommend the book if you are following the Reapers series but it’s definitely one that won’t go to my read again shelf
One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors. Love the characters and their interactions. Would highly recommend!!
This book was about Levi “Painter” Brooks and Melanie Tucker. Melanie had a bad childhood so she when to stay with her friend Jess and London. Painter did not have a good childhood so he joined the Reapers MC. Melanie and Painter has gone from friends to going out. This is worth having. Time to buy the book.
I love this story! Can’t wait for the next one to come out!
I’m so shocked. I was totally prepared to not like this book. I was only reading it because of OCD and I can’t skip around in a series. I knew I needed to read it and just get it out of the way so I would be ready for the next book to come out. I didn’t like Painter in other books and I figured he would be a douche in this book too. And from the reviews I skimmed, I figured I would hate Melanie too. I was wrong, so wrong . I so freaking loved this book!
Painter redeemed himself for me in this book. Big time. Don’t get me wrong he says some stupid crap and messes up, but he learns his lesson. Because of his mistakes he loses Melanie, and The first year of his daughter’s life, but he does his best to get her to forgive him. Not only that he changes, grows up a lot. Becomes a great dad, and is good to Melanie even though they aren’t together and she is kinda a jerk to him. The thing that worried me the most going into this book was that I read he sleeps around with tons of other women. But that wasn’t a problem for me because he never cheated on Melanie. When they are together he is totally faithful to her. He slept with others women the five years they are broke up but he tells her if they get back together that he would stop that. And it’s not detailed so you don’t have to live through it which helps. They both sleep with other people while apart. She is the one that pushes him away. After a while I didn’t blame him for trying to move on Melanie made it clear there was no hope for them. I have to say I am so surprised at how much I loved Painter in this book. I found him playful, sweet at times, still biker rough and raw, but sexy.
I liked Melanie a lot too. I could understand where she was coming from. I loved her for most of the book, but after awhile I got a little annoyed that she was still holding on to that old hurt. She is a serious grudge holder! Like I said I could sympathize with her pain, and could see that she was trying to protect herself but damn after a while it’s like just get the fuck over it already! Mostly I thought Melanie was strong, sweet, and a great mom.
Painter and Melanie’s relationship was a rocky one , but I felt it. They had major heat. I adored their little family although I felt it took too long for them to get back together. Jessica was awesome in this book. She was a great best friend to Melanie. I really hope Jessica gets a book. Oh and Taz. I want Taz from Hunters MC to get a book so bad. Taz was sexy as hell! I noticed towards the end of the book it said Gage’s old lady. What Gage has a old lady??? When did that happen? I felt a little lost there, but hopeful it will be laid out in the next book. Lord Izzy was adorable. She had her daddy wrapped around her finger. I think my favorite part of the whole book was the sexy paint fight, too cute! I loved the ending, that sweet little epilogue. I am so glad I read this book. I can’t wait for the next one.
Oh Painter you just don’t know how to handle certain situations, “you want me to stop screwing around, come over with Izzy tonight and I’ll be happy to limit my effing to you, Mel. Anytime you want under me, the door’s open.” He can say the most romantic things, “no, we’re getting married anyway,” he said. “But if you’re knocked up, we should probably do it while you can still fit into a wedding dress.” It took awhile but Painter grew on me. I liked this book but it wasn’t one of my favorites in the series, Reese’s story will forever hold that spot. I’m always excited about the next book and the little sneak peak we got for Gage’s book is making me eager to read it.
“Where such men love they have no desire, and where they desire they cannot love,” Sigmund Freud wrote back in 1925. The founding father of psychoanalysis coined the Madonna-whore complex – a condition whereby men view women as either saintly, virgin Madonna’s or sexual “whores”.
That describes the hero Levi “Painter” Brooks. We watch him struggle with that with Emmy in earlier books. I along with probably most of the women who have read this series was not a big fan of Painter but I always leave final judgment until I’ve read their whole story. By the end of Reaper’s Fall I felt like I understood him and had a lot respect for him as man, lover and eventually father. He is very loyal to his MC even to the point of doing time for them. He never wanted to become the one for Melanie as he knew he wasnt worthy. But once he realized that the crazy feelings he had for her were love he didnt waste time fighting it but circumstances took him away from her again and this time Melanie had a hard time forgiving him.
As with all the books in this series there is plenty of side stories going on with the club and also glimpses of other characters stories that will be future books. Gage and Tinker’s story who’s next in the series is started in this one and looks to be another angsty read.
This is one of my favorite series ever! Love those dangerous motorcycle men.
I loved this book and this series. Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. He was in the foster care system as a kid and juvie as a teen and prison when he met one of the Reaper’s Bolt. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf. Melanie Tucker has a had a hard life where she thought that her mother up and left when she was in her teens. Her best friend Jessica who is London’s niece has always been their for her and London took care of her when she could no longer deal with her father. Melanie has had a crush on Painter after he took care of her when London’s house blow up after Jessica ran away and before Painter and Puck went to prison for a year Melanie kept his car and wrote to him. When Painter and Puck got out of prison he tried to stay away from Mellie but it didn’t work they tried to be friends that turned into friends with benefits. Most of the book Painter was an a*shole I think he did it in the beginning to push her away. When Mellie becomes pregnant Painter doesn’t take the news well he never wanted to be a father she gets upset and leaves he goes on a run with the club and gets arrested leaving Melanie on her own with a baby on the way. Melanie is really upset with Painter for leaving her for putting the club before her and the baby. Melanie had a girl and when Painter got out he changed he realized that he had a lot more to lose although Melanie wouldn’t give him the time of day she also changed her life she went to nursing school and became in E.R. nurse. Melanie was still in love with Painter and she wanted to be with him but he couldn’t trust him to put his family first. Painter was done playing games he wanted his family back he wanted Melanie. This was a really good book the Hayes sister’s are something else Kit was always in Mellie’s business causing trouble for everyone and Jessica was also sticking her nose in Mel and Painter’s life and she was the one who was irresponsible one of the two. This book was well written like the rest of the books in this series with no errors in spelling or grammar. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series Gage and Tinker
Painter stole my heart. Although Mel really hacked me off through the majority of this book. But I have to admit I was pleased with the ending.
