I am addicted to this Series just waiting for my next fix. This is Sam Hudson’s story. It is no secret among friends that I have a serious crush on Simon the brother of Sam but I absolutely loved this next book. Filled will love and Romance and the Alpha male that keeps me turning the pages at warped speed.
Sam Hudson who was introduced to me in The Billionaire’s Obsession is a very handsome man with a past there is no escaping from. Maddie a doctor who was hurt deeply by Sam years ago ends up trying to fight off her emotions as he becomes increasing protective of her. Maddie will not be told what to do by anyone never mind, Sam Controlling Hudson.
Sam wishes things could of been so different but he had no choice. The things he did was to keep Maddie safe but if she thinks for one minute that he ever forgot her well this little doc is in for a shock.
Maddie is really fighting a losing battle where the hottie and charming Sam is concerned, she has always loved him and believed she was never good enough for him.
Sometimes in life you just have to take that chance. For love you have to take chances. This was another magical read that I throughly enjoyed. I can’t wait for more and then even more.
I liked the characters, especially Sam. After reading the previous book, I hated Sam, but this story explained him and I grew to love him. I like that Maddie didn’t end up pregnant at the end. Pregnancy is so unromantic and not sexy. The sex scenes were hot and the story can be read as a stand alone, though it’s nice to have the back ground of the first book. It sounds like the next book, about Max, will be interesting, too.
Maddie and Sam are reunited and it feel oh so good! Maddie has always been the girl left behind. First given away by her birth mother and then bounced around the foster system, she always felt like she was easily discarded. When the handsome charming Sam Hudson sat down beside in class one day she was floored. She was even more perplexed when he genuinely seemed interested in her but then reality came crashing in one day when she caught Sam in the arms of of another woman. She was absolutely crushed and the subsequent pain would shape future decisions for years to come. Now Sam is back thanks to fate’s intervention and the lines between love and hate get very blurry when he’s around. Sam had to walk away from the best thing in his life years ago and he will not do it a second time. Maddie was always supposed to be his and he plans on making it official. He has demons and issues to work through, but he cannot run from the truth any longer – Maddie is the be all end all. Now earning back her trust will be his mission directive and he is up to the task.
You’ve got to read “Billionaire’s Obsession: Simon” (Book 1 in this series) yo truly appreciate this book, which is the 2nd in the series. I couldn’t put these 2 books down once I started reading them!
VERY entertaining!!!! WOW!!!!! couldn’t put it down!!!! every time I thought I’d gotten to a stopping point something would stop me and I’d HAVE to keep reading!!!!
This is the book that got me hooked on JS Scott. Have not kissed once since. Interesting characters, a bit of action. All around a great read
What a great continuation in The Billionaire’s Obsession series. So much heartache and hurt is overcome by Sam and Maddie. Their destiny is undeniable and sweet.
I started off this story with a bit of a prejudice towards Sam based on his actions from The Billionaire’s Obsession – Simon. Both stories are standalone and while they are connected you don’t have to read the other book to enjoy this one. Trying to keep an open mind and just let myself get into the story took a bit of work but I’m glad that I did it. I ended up really loving this story. Yeah, Sam was a ho especially compared to Maddie but not as big of a ho as I thought. To find out what happened when he broke Maddie’s heart made me like him more than I thought I could. The way that Sam took care of Maddie was wonderful. I did a lot of laughing but there were plenty of feels in this story. Maddie was a tough cookie and I liked that she stood up to him and then gave him ideas on how to change her mind without ordering her around. Sam’s past was heartbreaking but also so wonderful for the sacrifice that he made to protect his brother that it made me cry. There is a lot of story here and a lot of heart. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book. Or listening to it as the narration was great. I usually prefer dual narration but the narrator did a superb job and after a while, I just heard the characters. So definitely listen to this book if you get a chance!
Sam And Maddie’s Emotional Story Of Second Chances Shows That Success Doesn’t Buy Happiness!
Dr. Madeline Reynolds, thirty-four, has given up on her dream of a family. Raised in the foster system, she had hoped for a family of her own one day that might fill the void, the empty feeling that consumes her. She hasn’t had a serious man in her life since college, but she also cannot say she feels she is missing out on much. She is committed to her career as a family practice doctor and works full-time as a hospitalist to pay her bills and finance her passion: her clinic. She runs a free clinic that gives her the gratification of knowing that she is making a real difference in the lives of people in need. Her best friend Kara volunteers with her each Saturday. After an armed robbery roughly one year ago, Simon Hudson, Kara’s fiancé and co-owner of Hudson Corporation, donated security detail to ensure Kara and Maddie’s safety in the less than ideal neighborhood that is home to the clinic. Fortunately, she can now burn the midnight oil at the clinic without undue worrying about her safety when she locks up and walks to her car at the end of the day.
Sam Hudson, mid thirties, is routinely written about in the business section and pictured in the gossip columns alongside a string of statuesque blonde beauties. The handsome and charming billionaire bachelor is the face of the Hudson Corporation. Under his leadership, he took his brother Simon’s brilliant games and brought them to market. He then took that success and diversified the company, branching out into real estate investments among other things. Despite what the newspapers and online gossip sites report, Sam isn’t quite the player he is made out to be. He wasn’t raised with privilege, and in spite of his cocky alpha persona, he isn’t completely lost to his newfound wealth. He had a rough childhood, and it impacts him yet today. When he was old enough, he had left home and moved to Tampa to get away from the rough Los Angeles neighborhood he had called home. He had nothing when he got to Florida, but he labored in construction during the day and went to business school by night in the hopes of bringing his mother and younger brother Simon to Florida with him. Unfortunately, it hadn’t been soon enough to prevent Simon from nearly losing his life. The guilt plagued Sam, but he had done all he could to make things right. It came at a personal cost, though. A cost that shapes him yet today.
When Maddie first learned that Kara’s fiancé was Simon Hudson, Sam Hudson’s brother, she could hardly hide her distaste. She hated Sam Hudson. He had lied to her, and what he did was unforgivable. She hated seeing all the photos of him and his dates over the years. Curiosity, though, had won out when it came to reading up on his successes. She wasn’t surprised by any of his achievements, but clearly the success had gone to his head. When Sam discovers through Kara that Maddie made it through medical school and runs her own clinic, he is happy to learn about her achievements. What he doesn’t understand is why she never married. Consumed by her safety following the robbery, he has the Hudson security detail give him updates on Maddie’s activity at the clinic. He observes that Maddie is working too many hours for her own good, and eventually he cannot sit by and watch her work herself to death. Her fiery reaction does nothing to dissuade his interest, much to her chagrin.
Sam and Maddie might have fallen in love at first sight all those yeas ago, but they hadn’t rushed into anything. A friendship eventually led to a relationship. It all seemed perfect, until it wasn’t. Brought together again by Simon and Kara, Sam and Maddie have to deal with one another on occasion. But things were left unsaid between them, and a serious conversation is inevitable. As they get to know one another again, there is hope for a future. They are challenged, though. Sam’s past still has a hold on him, and Maddie’s self-confidence has never recovered from Sam and Lance, her college boyfriend. And when she finds herself suddenly the object of attention of Sam’s billionaire friend and business partner, widower Max Hamilton, she cannot help but feel a connection to him. Both Sam and Maddie have a tough exterior, and both suffer from a past that has left them lonely. Their story gets deep and emotional as they work through their issues. The couple eventually earns their happy ending.
Sam and Maddie’s emotional story of second chances shows that success doesn’t buy happiness. This quick read is nicely written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are wonderfully developed given the length. Sam and Maddie both have a compelling story, each afraid of becoming vulnerable. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Maddie and Sam. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
I received a copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story did not do much for me. Other than feeling for Sam having to endure what happened to him in his past, I felt pretty indifferent to the rest of the book.
Maddie going from irrationally angry at Sam to loving him felt so disingenuous. How do you hold on to that level of anger for so long, and after a few encounters you are over it? I could not reconcile Maddie devoting that much of herself to being that level of angry at someone for such a long time anyway. She finished undergrad, went through med school, an internship, residency, and was a practicing physician.
I didn’t like Sam that much. He was arrogant, controlling, and overbearing. Simon was too, in the previous book, but it seemed like I got to see more of his vulnerable side. I, at least, got to understand his reasoning earlier on in the book. The weird thing is that I liked Sam more at the beginning of the book than I did as I moved further into the book. I also didn’t like Maddie much because her anger was so over the top.
With Sam, he came across as ridiculously demanding, under cover of trying to keep Maddie safe. Then the scene came up where he violated her privacy. After all of the original animosity Maddie held toward Sam, she was OK with that. Bizarre.
I didn’t feel chemistry between them as the book moved forward. I zoned out on the sex scenes. The narration was kind of flat. I think it would be interesting to hear this book with both male and female narration
I would give this book 2.5 stars. It wasn’t terrible. It was kind of boring. I voluntarily read and reviewed this audio book received from the author.
A second chance. Sam broke Maddie’s heart years ago, and she hated him for it. But he never stopped loving her. When his brother and her best friend get married, they are thrown back into each other’s lives, and Sam is determined to win her back. There is a lot of tenderness and sweetness to Sam and Maddie as a couple. The chemistry was always there, undeniably so, but his past secrets held him back. Their story is heartbreaking and uplifting, and they overcome the difficulties when they both let go and decide to be happy. There are some surprising twists to their story, including a little side twist that was very interesting. And the steamy encounters are very satisfying. The way the books are tied together, from book 1, to this one, and next into book 3, was very well done, and felt seamless, as well. In the end Sam and Maddie get their second chance, and it’s a sweet, contented, and beautiful story.
It is always so emotional to read stories about the things Sam went through in is childhood because even though this is a story l know children go through the same things in real life. Stories like this reminds us how much negative experiences can cause so much damage that can change the way a person behaves. People like Sam’s father do not deserve children.
2 stars Too repetitive for my taste…I couldn’t finish it.
Sam is such a wounded soul and the history between him and Maddie is not only sad but we find out why she is so mad at him. Watching them circle each other and come together is not only special but it brought a smile. Definitely want to read/listen to Simon and Kara’s story first.
“Heart of the Billionaire ~ Sam” (The Billionaire’s Obsession Book 2) by J.S. Scott is a fantastic read. I loved Sam and Maddie’s story. This is a great addition to the series. This story is packed with passion, romance, entertaining characters, twists I didn’t expect, billionaires, family, and more. I can’t wait to see what happens next with this series and interesting cast of characters. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, billionaires, and series.
Book 2 in Billionaire Obsession series by J. S. Scott
You meet Sam and Maddie in first book with Simon and Kara story. Straight away you sense tensions between Sam and Maddie.
Maddie doesn’t have a nice thing to say about Sam and Sam is very tight lipped about the weird tension.
Sam and Maddie met in college and started dating one night Maddie finds Sam making out with another women and they split up and don’t meet each other until Simon and Kara get together and wedding.
Sam comes across as a complete ass but really he’s softie but in his business that doesn’t help.
Lots of tension and heartbreak but Sam is a secretly very romantic and he does try to make it up to Maddie.
Love the story and HEA.
This is a review of the audiobook.
Overall 5

Another great audiobook from J. S. Scott and Elizabeth Powers
Wow! I had forgotten how hot this story was. I read it back in 2013 and loved it so I jumped at the chance to review a complimentary copy of the audiobook.
Like his brother Simon, from book one, Sam is very alpha-male. We also find out that he is damaged but in a different way from Sam. You don’t have to have read Simon’s story to understand this one but you might enjoy it a bit more if you do.
Sam and Maddie had a “thing” many years ago but she broke up with him because she saw him kissing another woman. All was not as it seemed and will be revealed before they get their HEA. Maddie has had a difficult life in the foster care system but she came out on top and is a dedicated physician with a clinic that caters to people who can’t afford health care.
Maddie isn’t at all happy about Sam’s heavy-handed ways but she just can’t seem to resist him. The Billionaire’s Heart is a complicated story with lots going on to keep you glued to the book.
Elizabeth Power’s does another fantastic job with the narration. I’m so happy that she has narrated the entire series and I’m looking forward to listening to the remaining stories.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Audiobook Review: Heart of the Billionaire: Sam (The Billionaire’s Obsession) by J.S. Scott (Author), Elizabeth Powers (Narrator)
Flawed and fearless, the Hudson men idle at complicated. Haunted by a past that almost broke them, Sam and Simon are more than the sum of their pain. Hudson men take alpha to the extreme. Simon found his forever, now it’s Sam’s turn. Maddie is the girl that got away. Sam found his forever, but broke his own heart to protect the woman he loved. Maddie and Sam let secrets destroy something precious. Can time help them rebuild the chance they lost. Scott imagineers heartbreaking, heat worthy romance. Whether laughing or crying, I can never get enough of this master storyteller.
The beginning you learn some of how Sam and Maddie met and what happened and then it goes to the present and what is going on with them now. I love the story and rtecommend this book!!!!!
Should Invest in Kleenex
I am loving these books so much. She is just dragging me into the story with the Characters, making me feel that I am part of it. All the things that Maddie and Sam have gone through to get to where they are was heartbreaking, but the happy tears are worth it in the end.
Until Next Time….. Tabi
