I wanted to have a pity party of one when I went for that beer. I never imagined I would meet a dark and dangerous man. That man took me on the wildest ride of my life. Literally and Figuratively. He quickly became my entire world.

I didn’t know I was looking for her. I saw her warming that bar stool and knew she would be mine. A man like me doesn’t deserve the likes of her. But … deserve the likes of her. But damned if I didn’t take it.

When we met for the first time we didn’t know that we already had a connection. A cruel game was being played, and we didn’t know the rules. Sam would save us, but at what cost? Sam was one of my main reasons for living. If he wasn’t in this world anymore, would I still want to be a part of it?

Sam and Cheyenne’s story is the perfect start for this series. Their instalove combined with her denial to the feelings that they share is what made this one a page turner. Then add in the moments of humor and then some moments of danger, I found that I just couldn’t put this one down. I can’t wait to devour the rest of this series and any further to come from this author.
Ever read a book and wanted to know the history of a character? How did they get this way, what or who influenced them, and who they are at their core? Boomtown gave me all of that and more!
Cheyenne was having a bad day. It was her birthday and she was all alone, but she wasn’t going to let that stop her from getting a little celebrating in. The bar she chose… Sam’s haunt. And when he gets his first glimpse of her, something tells him he won’t ever be looking away. They started off explosive, the suspense that stalked them was creepy, and their love was sublime.
I’ve read plenty of books by Lani Lynn Vale and one of the things I love most is that her characters, main and otherwise, just may pop up in a future story. This book not only gave me insight to the background of Free, but I learned about Sam and Cheyenne, Luke Robert’s story has so much more context for me, and I saw Janie and Kayla when they were little girls. I’ve learned so much about characters that I’ve come to somewhat know and definitely love. Now I have more questions and I can’t wait to discover the answers in the books to come.
3.5 Stars For an author I absolutely fell in love with in 2020, I’ve started to delve into their backlist. This, I’m afraid is not my favourite. I really enjoyed the side characters, Sam is a really solid hero. The suspense is what I’ve come to expect from LLV. But there was something in it that didn’t hit all the way right for me like their other work.
I just love Sam and Cheyenne’s relationship, especially with the way they met. Cheyenne and Embers antics are hilarious.
This one made me laugh and cry. You have to go read this
An entertaining, fun, and intriguing journey to go on with Sam and Cheyenne. This book has the perfect amount of action, suspense, humor, and of course romance. I enjoyed this story.
Great story, loved Sam and Cheyenne
Cheyenne Allen, 25, nursing student. Living with her mom and helping care for her 2 year old niece, while her single dad brother is deployed.
Sam Mackenzie, former Army Ranger, at 32, he owned his own garage with a few buddies from his team. He heads up a MC, the. Freebirds. They specialize in getting abused women and kids away from their abusers.
When Sam sees Cheyenne walk into the bar he is drawn to her. Taking her home, he knows she is the one. Learning that he use to be her brothers CO, is not going to stand in his way.
Sam’s past is threatening his future. Someone who knows him, and the crew that served with him has targeted Cheyenne and her baby niece. The clues lead to a dead team member. Figuring out the who takes a while. Catching an elite government trained killer with money and family connections, while keeping the pregnant Cheyenne safe, is providing harder than his team expected. The take down may cost him everything.
Great story. Time lines are a little confusing. Great secondary characters. Nice ending and epilogue. Story dragged a little in places, the roller derby and fishing trip, could have been just been mentioned didn’t add anything to the story by going into details. Looking forward to Ember and Gabe’s story.
This is a fun read and Lani Lynn Vale creates a compelling world filled with interesting characters. This book kicks off a series, which kicks of another series, and so on. Her world keeps getting bigger, but it all started here with Cheyenne and Sam. I will warn readers she puts her readers through the wringer and doesn’t shy away from violence, but there’s always a happily ever after.
This is the second time I have read this book and it always reminds me why Lani Lynn Vale quickly became one of my favourite authors. Boomtown is emotional, witty and action packed. Sam and Cheyenne are characters that you easily love and find yourself enjoying the ride with these two from the very start. The banter, bickering and sass that happens between Cheyenne and her best friend Ember are an added bonus to an already captivating read. If it is drama, chaos, steam, chemistry and enough humour to make you laugh out loud then grab the OS bar, haul your butt up in the truck, crack open a Dr Pepper and sit back and enjoy the trip to Boomtown.
I have been wanting to know where it all began with Sam and Cheyenne and boy did Lani Lynn Vale give me a story to hold on to. I love the quirky women, but they are strong as well. The alpha men who would do anything for the women they love. This is the start for some amazing characters and I can’t wait to see where the other stories take me. Highly recommend this book and series.
Sam and Cheyenne’s is an insta true love story. Although, at first neither wants to do the chasing and you want to smack both of them. I really enjoyed this read. The ups, downs, love, and loss. The characters just pulled me into their world.
I absolutely love Lani Lynn Vale’s books. I have read all of her other series, even though this is the first one she wrote. I kinda went out of order with the series. But no complaints here. I’ve been wanting to read these for the past year, I just haven’t had a chance. Now I do, so I will be on a reading binge to read all the Freebird books.
I love Cheyenne and Sam.
Cheyenne is a character, that’s for sure. I love her spunky personality. The relationship between her and her bestie is awesome. I love how they interact with each other. They’re carefree.
Sam is a complete alpha, that’s for sure. He is loving and very protective of those he loves. And then you have his work with Free. What he and the other guys do to help those women, wow, just wow.
I can’t wait to start on the next one, which will be right after I hit post lol
Sam and Cheyenne are so freaking good together. Cheyenne and her friend Ember make this book funny. But the rest of the Free crew make it amazing. Although this is the first book by Lani, I did not start here. I came back to it after reading Center Mass.
Stumbled on this while browsing through Kindle and thought I’d give it a try.
Best decision ever wonderful start to a great series
