Professor Derek Rutledge is hated and feared by all of his students. Strict, reserved, and ruthless, he doesn’t tolerate mistakes and has little patience for his students.
Shawn Wyatt is a twenty-year-old struggling to provide for his younger sisters after the death of their parents. On the verge of losing his scholarship, Shawn becomes desperate enough to go to Professor Rutledge.
Everyone …
Everyone says Rutledge doesn’t have a heart. Everyone says he’s a ruthless bastard. Shawn finds out that everyone is right. He strikes a deal with Rutledge, but unexpectedly, the deal turns into something so much more.
Something all-consuming and addictive. Something neither of them wants.
Warning: explicit M/M content, teacher-student relationship.

No one does explosive chemistry and slightly unhealthy attraction like Alessandra! Sexy, smokin’ hot relationship between two unlikely men who need each other. Derek is so grumpy but so loveable. Sweet HFN ending.
This is actually more a review of the SERIES as a whole. In truth, Just a Bit Twisted is my least favorite book in the series, lol, although it’s still a great read. But this series ROCKS! Hazard is an auto-buy for me. Her style is sooo completely different from my own and yet I love her books so hard.
First time reading this author after I heard about this series from a group on facebook. These types of books have always been my favorite to read when it comes to M/M romances. I love seeing a straight guy fight feelings for a man and then that moment when they fall and realize what they did. It’s so great! This one has characters from different levels of life and financial points. Derek is a professor and comes from a wealthy family. He left it behind due to his sexuality and disagreements with his dad. He has a reputation at school of being well.. hard and rude. He wants things done a certain way and why rumors fly about how he’ll help students with grades. He is a person who has needs. Shawn comes from a different place as Derek. He lost his parents and is raising his twin sisters while going to school and working a job to make ends meet. He is struggling bad at both. He’s at his lowest point when he goes to Derek for help. What start outs a simple agreement turns to into so much! Shawn’s little sisters have a way of melting the hardest of hearts. Their relationship turns into so much more but I wasn’t exactly happy with the abrupt ending that happen in this. I was all into it and then boom, it ended! I needed more from these two and the adorable twins!! I’ll be reading book 2 now cause thanks to this book, I want to know what happened with Christian’s threesome he was so excited about! haha
I just loved this series. I binged on the whole thing the past week. I picked these up after coming across them on Amazon when I was looking for something to read while I was bored. Now, I spent the whole week sneaking in time to read all of them. I’m going to miss this series now that I finished it. This was a new to me author, and I’m so glad I found her. I’m adding her to my auto one-click list. She’s so good and deserves more attention then she probably gets.
*Review posted to all books as a general review for whole series.
This book has a reputation and is often recommended – for a very good reason.
Very hot and sexy with hurt/comfort elements and a great pace, keeping the reader fully engaged. The snappy dialogue is full of sass and sizzling intensity. If you like your books skirting the edge of extra naughty, snarky characters and banging chemistry that moves quickly – this is for you.
MM Forbidden Romance!

“I just like corrupting and fucking straight boys. It turns me on.”
Where has this author been all my life? This book was absolutely refreshing, steamy, and deliciously forbidden. I got a recommendation from one of my favorite authors, Erica Chilson, saying she loved this series. I’ve been in a unconventional reading mood as of late and this book hit the spot. From the uncomfortable, hilarious beginning to the HARD and easy end, I was in love. Not too much drama, really. This book captures the characters and not much else. And I was just fine with it all. Especially with the steamy scenes. Good lord. Looks like I need to check out this author’s other books.
I don’t usually like books that aren’t written in first person, yet this author wrote it well, I honestly didn’t have a problem whatsoever. Kudos to the author for that.
If you want something to spark your interest and panties, this book is for you. Smoking hot, fun, and interestingly good!
Story:
Narration :
This is book 1 in the Straight Guys series and can be listened to as a standalone.
This was such a sexy, students teacher, off limits, gay for you taboo romance!
I loved how sweet, caring and considerate Shawn brings out the best in Derek. Thawing his icy, cold reserved exterior.
The characters were well fleshed out and so real. The writing style was easy to read and so very engaging.
Joahua Macrae’s audio delivery was absolutely brilliant! It was very enjoyable and an easy listen overall.
I absolutely recommend this series if you like enemies to lovers, opposites attract, lots of steam and a wholesome well written romance overall.
The Straight Guys series is a fun, romantic reading experience. I own the series and it’s one that I love to go back and reread.
A TEACHER/student MUST!!!!
I loved everything about this read!!!!
A Teacher/student read that was so intense and captivating.
I want more of these two. It ended way too soon.
**** GIVE ME MORE!!!!! ****
Oh. My. Goodness. I was addicted to this book and devoured it. The intensity of the emotions between to two characters was fantastic. I love alpha, dominant men who go after what they want. This was a well written, steamy, and delicious book.
I’m currently rereading the whole Straight Guys series to “prepare” myself for the last two books that I haven’t read yet, and I’m still loving it. These stories get better with each book. What I love most is the imperfect characters. They’re rude, bratty, arrogant, downright criminals and assholes, you name it…and yet you end up rooting for a happy end. Very messed up stories, but in the best way…
Shawn is such a loving straight student, he is struggling not to failed his classes, On top of the he is working two jobs and take care of his two 4 year-old sisters that he is the guardian of.
Professor Rutledge is a mean bossy asshole, with daddy issues. But you just can’t resist him and you can’t get enough of him either.
Shawn’s best friend told him that flirting with Mr. Rutledge Aka. Professor asshole was a good idea to keep him from failing, and Hell yeah, I could not agree more!
Wow…this was a hot little number…damn
Not totally believable, but who cares ??
So…Shawn Wyatt is a 20-year-old student, raising his 4-year-old twin sisters. His parents died a while ago and left him with a lot of debt. This means he has to work multiple jobs and pay a babysitter he can’t really afford. To top it all off, he’s also failing at school. He doesn’t have the time to attend all classes and is late with all his papers. If his grades don’t improve, they’ll take away his scholarship.
He talked to two teachers, who agreed to give him more time and help him out a little, but professor Ruthledge is a cold-hearted bastard and he doesn’t want to hear excuses.
Shawns best friend Christian suggests that he should flirt with Ruthledge, because he heard a rumor about the professor liking blond pretty boys. Shawn has always considered himself straight, but he’ll do about anything right now to keep his scholarship.
When Shawn goes to speak to Ruthledge, he figures he doesn’t have anything to lose. He doesn’t really know how to flirt..so he just makes an offer right away, a blowjob for a better grade. The professor accepts, but he doesn’t want to end it with just one blowjob so he offers Shawn a deal he can’t refuse…
Turns out…Shawns not as straight as he thought he was, because he seems to enjoy sucking dick, way more than he should.
Also..cold-hearted professor Ruthledge, may not be as cold as he seems or wants to be.
This was all pretty fast paced and pretty unbelievable…but I enjoyed the hell out of this short little number. I would have preferred it to be a bit longer and to at least have an epilogue.
It doesn’t have anything about the future, and with Shawn being a student, I would have liked to know what happened….did they come out together…how could Ruthledge still be Shawn’s teacher…
But I will have to do with what I got…unfortunately.
My review are posted on Wendy’s Wycked Words
Wow I loved this book so much! The characters started to grow on me and I couldn’t put it down!
“I just like corrupting and fucking straight boys.
It turns me on.”
Two jobs plus trying to maintain good grade is hard enough for anyone, but Shawn is having a hard time keeping his life on track after the death of his parents left him to care for his is twin baby sisters.
Losing his scholarship is the last thing he can afford to lose, hearing from his best friend, Christian that their asshole Professor Rutledge gives good grades for a little flirting action. Shawn is straight, but he decides its worth a try, I mean flirting doesn’t make him gay, right? However, his attempts at flirting get him nowhere but on his knees with the professors cock deciding his grade.
Derek Rutledge, aka asshole professor, knows his hot and gets off on turning straight boys against their nature. It also means he doesn’t have to get attached or hurt.
But once with Shawn just isn’t enough for the Rutledge, he wants more and isn’t above paying for and taking exactly what he wants. Regardless the consequences.
This is one fast paced, fan-your-face kind of hot, with the right amount of sweetness to make you gush over the pair of them. Rutledge is most definitely one of my favs (well for now )
Ms. Hazard gives us a commonplace set up that initially appears unable to survive past a few predictable chapters and then surprises us with two lead characters that are actually strong enough to engage the reader through all 23 chapters of this mini epic collegiate romance. It’s VERY difficult to create a believable straight guy seduction story that isn’t cliche loaded or hilariously predictable from beginning to end and Ms. Hazard manages to pull it off in a manner that is fresh, engaging and wholly satisfying. I find minor fault in supporting characters that are not quite fully drawn and some detail in location and atmosphere is needed but otherwise, a VERY satisfying read and I’m looking forward to the other 2 installments in this series.
