In this explosive GhostWalker novel by #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan, a trained killer meets his match in a woman whose very kiss can stop a heart. The Cajun dive in the middle of the godforsaken swamps wasn’t exactly Trap Dawkins’ idea of fun. But the GhostWalker wasn’t there for a good time. He was looking for her. Cayenne. It’s where she found her victims. Poor suckers. … found her victims. Poor suckers. Then again, who wouldn’t want to leave a place like this with a woman like her?
It’s not Cayenne’s fault. Locked up, experimented on and never knowing kindness, she was bred this way—with a heart of pure venom. Trap understands her. He survived his own dark past and he shares her desire for getting even. But now Trap’s greatest danger is Cayenne herself. Because what’s inside her is hard to control—especially when it’s aroused by a lover as reckless as Trap.

A great paranormal romance series
I really enjoy this series, and I struggled with how to rate it. This book was good, but I found it to be repetitive. I tried to see if I felt that way because I read the series, but it really was repetitive. The most clear example is that Trap tells his teammate Wyatt about his family in much detail at the beginning of the book, and he later tells the story to Cayenne in much detail. The details were different, but it was still basically the same story. I like the series enough to work past it, but for other readers it wouldn’t work.
I’m a big fan of Christine Feehan
Wonderful inventive author, she needs to write faster, can’t get enough of her books.
3.5 stars
Trap Dawson can’t stop thinking about Cayenne, the beautiful woman he released from Benson/Whitney’s cell. He knows he is paired with her but has to wait for her to come to him. Eventually he tracks her down and convinces her to give him a chance.
Cayenne and Trap have a lot of issues to work through in their relationship. Cayenne has no idea what it means to be free, to be in a relationship or to have a home so everything is new to her and scary. I really liked Cayenne. She was deadly, strong, and yet very feminine and thoughtful.
Trap has control issues and past trauma that won’t let go. There were times that I didn’t really like Trap. He went into a jealous rage a few times and berated Cayenne thinking she was flirting with others, when clearly she wasn’t (plane scene). It really killed my liking of Trap because I hate that kind of controlling jealous behavior. Going into a jealous rage because of fear of Cayenne leaving is not a good way to show you love someone. It might even contribute to them leaving.
Overall, I still enjoyed the overarching story. I really loved Cayenne and hope to see more of her in future books. I wish Trap was a little less arrogant and controlling.
I so loved reading another one of Christine’s ghostwalker books. Although this book was a bit more aggressive it was really good. In a way I understood Trap’s feeling toward others. He had everything he loved taken from him at an early age and became very cold towards others, but still he had others backs. Now here Cayenne comes along from being caged and he can’t seem to hold his feeling back for her. The addiction is so strong for the both of them where Trap has become so possessive that he can’t seem to allow anyone near Cayenne for fear that she too may be taken away from him and he can’t seem to live if that happens. Now he uses his possessiveness to bind her to him and she falls prey to him each time. I felt at times that Cayenne was a bit weak and did any and everything Trap told her to do only because she had been caged all her life and didn’t know or have any understanding what was going on. She didn’t care for being controlled or told what to do and at times fear stepped in until Trap explanation to why she couldn’t every leave him. I thought Christine did an excellent job with the character development with these characters. An the plot setting was being set in Louisiana was intune to the story so that now team 4 would have their own fortress where they are able to protect their own as well and their families. I love Nonny again who was such a sweet heart.
