Trying to discover the identity of a murder victim brings together the vampire Dmitri and a hunter for the Guild, Honor. And as the gruesome murders continue, a lethal sensuality explodes between them.
When I first started reading this book I was a little disappointed and was very close to skipping it so that I would read it. You are probably wondering why, we’ll its all because it wasn’t about our favourite Arc Angel and Guild Hunter. But to be totally honest I’m glad that I did read it. Dmitri and Honor’s story had me on the edge of my seat. The connection between these two is something that you just don’t want to miss out on. You want to ride this roller coaster from the beginning to the very end

4 stars – It was really good
Trigger Warnings: death of children, torture, rape, forced turning, PTSD, grief
When a distinctive tattoo is found on a severed head, Dmitri requests Guild help in deciphering it. Honor reluctantly agrees to help on the case even though she wants nothing to do with vampires anymore. Unfortunately she just can’t seem to stay away from Dmitri.
Dmitri is a character that I really didn’t like at first. He used his pheromones to sway people, especially Elena, for me to like him in the previous books. Well this book made me change my views on him. I now like Dmitri and that is all because of Honor. She brought his humanity back.
Honor was a very strong woman who I instantly loved. She has suffered so much but she is using that pain to make her stronger. I liked that while she was a good hunter she preferred her books. Honor and Dmitri’s story was an emotional one filled with lots of pain but also a lot of attraction and eventually love. Their relationship was so hot and I really loved the chemistry between them from the very beginning.
I really like that we are getting books about the Seven. While I do like Elena and Raphael, it’s nice to have a break from them and see this world through a different pair of eyes.

I really enjoyed rereading Dimitri and Honor’s story and this continues to be one of my favourite books in this series.
We get to see a more human side of Dimitri here as he struggles at reconciling himself to the unexpected vulnerability that opening his heart once again causes.
Not only that but his sense of guilt towards his dead wife that these feelings also produce.
All Dimitri’s encounters up until now have been surface ones he closed off his human heart long ago that piece of him belonging with his dead family.
That is until Honor a guild Hunter with an equally painful past and what begins as Dimitri punishing her attackers and helping her find some closure and revenge swiftly morphs into so much more.
The more time these two spend together the more the lines blur. This was at times painful and poignant and my heart broke for not only honor but also Dimitri’s torment too.
I felt we got to know Raphael’s second on an intimate level as we peeled back the layers to find the actual heart of him.
The ending with this one seemed so fitting and definitely gave me all the feels.
As usual, this was well written and engaging and I could feel the connection between Dimitri and Honor deep down in my soul.
There’s also the usual gory action and a mystery to solve due to Dimitri’s past that initially throw these two together.
This series is ever so imaginative and each book adds to the complex layers.
This book definitely has more of a paranormal romance flavour than the previous ones which felt more urban fantasy with romance, not a criticism folks just an observation.
I loved getting to know Dimitri and the reaction to Honor’s pull on him. These two characters are defiant towards one another in a way that leads them to explore their attraction. Dimitri has drowned in his sorrow, but hides it well. The love he had for his wife was immense and finding it in another resurfaced a pain he buried long ago.
Vampires will always be my weakness. I hope to see these characters down the line.

I read Archangel’s Blade originally back in 2015 but never reviewed it. Now that I’ve read it a second time, I love this story even more, especially since it involves the lethal but sexy Dmitri. This would be the first full-length novel in the series that doesn’t have Elena and Raphael as the main characters, but they do appear in this book.
Dmitri has been an interesting character in the Guild Hunter series since he was introduced in the first book. He’s Raphael’s right-hand man (vampire), and let’s say this vampire is deadly and seductive. He also has the most alluring scent (according to Elena). The Guild Hunter that Dmitri ends up teaming up within Archangel’s Blade doesn’t have the hunter scents that Elena has, but instead, she can decipher tattoos and markings. She’s been recovering from being brutally attacked for two months by vampires that kept her captive. She does not want to work with Dmitri or with any vampires since the attack. Unfortunately, Sara, the Guild Director, wants Honor to assist with a case that involves a severed head with a distinctive tattoo.
If there is one thing I enjoyed about Dmitri’s story was getting to learn about his past and how he has never really fallen in love since his wife was killed. He’s had lovers, but not someone that was permanent until he can’t seem to get Honor out of his mind. I loved getting to know Dmitri before he became a vampire and also finding out what happened to make him a vampire. He was a loving father too. Nalini Singh did a fantastic job with the backstory of Dmitri and making me fall for him even more. I also loved the moment he met Raphael and how he ended up being his right-hand man/vampire. Raphael has been there for Dmitri through everything and knows that Dmitri is falling for an individual hunter.
Dmitri’s determined to find the vampires that harmed Honor so that he can punish them. Honor is not a timid, scared hunter thought that Dmitri thinks she is after the attack. She’ll fight back, and she does several times when Dmitri gets too close to her. I was proud of how strong Honor was after what she went through. Nalini knows how to write kick-butt heroines. She also knows how to write villains, which make the book hard to put down.
There is quite a bit of tension between Dmitri and Honor in this book. Be prepared for it. I thought Raphael and Elena’s tension was hot, but Dmitri and Honor beat them with the sexual tension.
I loved how the ending of this book went to and had a feeling it was going to end that way. I’m glad to say that Dmitri does get a HEA, and it’s well-deserved. Both Dmitri and Honor were meant to work together and also be with each other in the end.

I thought this whole series was about Elena and Raphael but found that this one is focused on Dmitri and Honor. Dmitri is Raphael’s second and Honor is a vampire hunter. He’s a very old vampire that comes off pretty sadistic. She’s a human who’s suffered serious abuse.
To me, Dmitri has always came off as a big jerk. He likes to taunt Elena and he does it to Honor as well. I’m not a big fan of him… until the end of this book. I was resigned to believing that their story was just going to be ok, but man did that ending change things quickly.
What both Dmitri and Honor has been through have been pretty horrific. It makes that ending so much sweeter. I’m now looking forward to seeing this couple make appearances in the upcoming books.

I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Dmitri here. I really disliked him throughout most of the previous books because he disliked Elena so much and was so much in Raphael’s corner… Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing as I adore Raphael to pieces.
However, I wasn’t looking forward to this book once I realized that Elena and Raphael were regulated to secondary characters in this one. However, every moment of this novel I adored. I actually found myself liking Dmitri during this novel and then rooting for Honor and Dmitri.
The Good:
The amazing writing one comes to expect from Nalini Singh is present during this book and as always more of the Guild Hunter world comes alive in new and expected ways.
The Bad:
The only bad – which made this book a 4.5 instead of 5 – is that I actually predicted what was going to happen regarding Honor and Dmitri and I found the concept… surprising and yet odd to add into this series. Maybe in later books it comes together more in a way that it explains it a bit better than ‘spirituality’. Because despite the fact this series is about angels there isn’t much on spirituality of any kind. Which is fine for me, don’t get me wrong. I could have loved the book with it too! I am just saying the way Dmitri’s love story comes together adds some to it I felt didn’t fit with the rest of the series. So far.
We’ll see. I’m sorry I can’t explain more without spoilers!
So 4.5 stars!

Audiobook, borrowed through the Audible romance package.
Dmitri and Honor, plus a bunch of tortured memories and moments. My favorite parts of Blade were the investigative scenes for each “mystery” or crime or whatever you want to call it. Those are the most well done thing about this book, well and the emotions given to each character.
The romance, given the pasts for Dmitri and Honor, is pretty well done. I wouldn’t call this a slow burn, because there are some very steamy moments before the big finale. But, I think the romance and they way it’s dealt with some of the time is what caused this to be a four star read instead of five stars.
I’m still totally here for the rest of the seven (cough, cough Illium) getting their own books. Plus revisiting Elena and Raphael if there’s going to be further development for them.

This book is about Dmitri ( the head leader of Raphael’s Seven and Honor non- hunter-born human hunter). Dmitri was haunted my his pass the time he was human and married with children on a farm when he was taken from them and they was taken from him. Honor is haunted from her time with her captives that had her for three months and in that time they did things to her that would haunt her dreams for years to come. Honor finds herself working with Dmitri on a job to hunt her captives to make them pay. But now is the time to get the book or the audible to find out what happens. It is worth the money to have it to find out. I will be getting more and the others in this series.

~ 5 Archangel’s Blade Stars ~
Archangel’s Blade is book four in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh. Now you could read it as a stand-a-lone, but I think this series should be read in order. The first three books give us teasers of Raphael’s Seven and what they are like, leaving the reader wanting more on them.
Lethal. Sensual. Ravishing.
Archangel’s Blade steps out of Elena and Raphael’s story and into Dimtri’s world. I have been waiting since I read the first book Angels’ Blood to see if the author would give us more on the Seven and here we are given the sensual, lethal, and ravishing Dimtri.
Dimtri is Raphael’s right hand, his blade. He is menacing, lethal, and mesmerizing. His life and past, both human and vampire, was delivered in a splendid way. I like how the author portrayed him and his past. She stays true to his character throughout the book.
I loved Honor. She is a survivor and a fighter. Watching her get better and stronger as the book progress was great. She has this quiet strength. I have adored the women in this series. They are all strong, despite the dangerous men surrounding them.
Singh does an incredible job with the sexual tension. Just from page one you see the sexual pull between Dimitri and Honor. Throughout the book this playes out, but it never gets boring. We are teased just enough to keep us waiting and wanting more.
Archangel’s Blade was a unbelievable read. I couldn’t get enough and savored each page. I now have a new favorite in this phenomenal series. I can’t wait to see who comes next. As always Singh delivers a monumental novel for her readers.
