Charleston psychic Melanie Middleton discovers the past isn’t finished revealing unsettling secrets in the third novel in the New York Times bestselling Tradd Street series. With her relationship with writer Jack Treholm as shaky as the foundation of her family home, Melanie’s juggling a number of problems. Like restoring her Tradd Street house…and resisting her mother’s pressure to ‘go … resisting her mother’s pressure to ‘go public’ with her talent—a sixth sense that unites them to the lost souls of the dead. But Melanie never anticipated her new problem.
Her name is Nola, Jack’s estranged young daughter who appears on their doorstep, damaged, lonely and defiantly immune to her father’s attempts to reconnect. Melanie understands the emotional chasm all too well. As a special, bonding gift Jack’s mother buys Nola an antique dollhouse—a precious tableaux of a perfect Victorian family. Melanie hopes the gift will help thaw Nola’s reserve and draw her into the family she’s never known.
At first, Nola is charmed, and Melanie is delighted—until night falls, and the most unnerving shadows are cast within its miniature rooms. By the time Melanie senses a malevolent presence she fears it may already be too late. A new family has accepted her unwitting invitation to move in—with their own secrets, their own personal demons, and a past that’s drawing Nola into their own inescapable darkness…

Fantastic. Could not put it down.
Loved it because of setting and characters.
I absolutely loved this book, the characters is this book all need help, but it was the 13 Nola a child of a drug addict that committed suicide that save everyone. It was a heartwarming read. I love this author she really adds the charm into the term Southern Charm, the backdrop for the story is Charleston and for anyone that been there you can understand why no one would want to leave there. I have bought book 4 in the series so I can continue the warmth this author created.
I’ve read several of Karen White’s books and they are great. Really enjoy the quirkiness of the stories.
Part of a series that is best read in order to know the characters. It is an excellent series.
Great book; my favorite author!

You can not go wrong with this series of books or the author…
What a treat. I just finished this book and I can’t wait to start the next one in the series.
Love her books…love this series!!!!
If you are going to write a book about a certain place it would help to spell the street in the title correctlt
Karen White does an amazing job with ghosts in Charleston, South Carolina!
This book is the 3rd in a Series by Karen S. White. I love Charleston, SC and there are mentions of places in the book that I am familiar with. You can read it on its own but its better to read the series. The writing is good and it’s an easy read. It’s not a book that is intense but the story line does keep the reader guessing. I like the characters although the main character Melanie can sometimes be frustrating.
If you like Charleston, then you might enjoy this book and the Tradd Street Series.
