This was an interesting read. I have a number of the books in the series for one reason or another so I plan on continuing with the series. I did think this was going to be more mafia/syndicate than it actually is or at least have something more. We do get a web that is weaved with such an intricate layer of lies and not just from one source. He doesn’t let her know who and what he is and she has a few secrets of her own as well. Yes the syndicate is involved I mean after all he is a high ranking person and yes there’s death and threats, and kidnapping and it’s not a bad read I mean I did rate it 4* and I enjoyed the story. It’s my first read by this author and her debut one so some lead way is allowed and it’s good for a debut. I will read more because I really want to finish and find out where the author takes us with the cliff hanger. I understand not all of the books in the series have cliff hangers but this one was spot on.
What started out as a way to get information turned into so much more for Luca when he first laid his eyes on Fallon. He couldn’t seem to stay away no matter how it would change their lives forever. Fallon becomes so much more for Luca and he can’t let her go. When their two lives collide what will happen, will all the secrets and lies explode and destroy the one woman he has ever loved? OMG!! This book was simply amazing so many twists and turns had me guessing what would happen. This story my me smile, laugh, cry and want to throw my kindle. I cannot wait to read the next part of Fallon and Luca’s story in the next book in the series: For Luca. Highly recommend this story and this author, definitely one I will be reading over and over again.
Please see book 9 for my full review. Absolute brilliant series!!
Mafia romance. Chicago Syndicate. I highly recommend books 1 and 2 since they go together. Read the blurb. I like the angst in the story.
This was a great story with lots of excitement and well rounded characters. I felt that the balance was evenly executed between the romance, the crime and the mystery. Loved these two together, but I also liked that the reactions, feelings and actions were real and valid. I will be reading on in this series.
This really was a great read that I enjoyed immensely.
Ive been meaning to get around to this one for a while as I have read the catch-up story “For the love of Luca” which I absolutely adored.
My review for that one is here

I know I know, I have a naughty habit of reading books completely out of sync sigh.
In this instance, it turned out great luckily for me: but I still really wanted to see where this all began: the roots and foundations being laid if you will: their personal rocky journey to where they arrived at in For the love of Luca.
So I am not sure why it took me so long to pick this up but boy am I glad I did it was an explosive addictive ride throughout.
The first half almost lulling you into a false sense of security until BAM!!! everything around starts to disintegrate and implode.
Not surprising considering the basic foundation of there relationship: even down to how they originally met is built on a bed of deceit, secrets and lies.
Everything that Luca is juggling in an attempt to keep separate and away from Fallon collides in a dramatic implosion.
His relationship with Fallon now stained and tainted: deception by omission: is this the end.
But there is also more bubbling beneath the surface here and Luca isn’t the only one withholding information.
So this was a fabulous read and I was so invested my only minuses were I felt the first half of this was a trifle slow but when things did start to heat up they went from zero to hundred so god damn fast I got whiplash.
Also, I found Fallon’s behaviour when Luca was trying to protect her so annoying and idiotic:
She also made really stupid idiotic decisions.
she may want to be far far away from him but at the moment he is the only thing keeping her safe.
So deal with it: you can go off and lick your wounds and play the blame game when its safe.
The message this ultimately imparted to me was how deception can distance you from the people you care about destroying the foundations of a budding relationship before it has even got started: eroding the structure before its even erected and off the ground.
Without honesty, there’s just no key to the door.
I felt so deeply for both Luca and Fallon as the walls of there relationship came tumbling down around there ears.
Looking forward to the next chapter of this tale.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of For Fallon (Chicago Syndicate, #1).

This was an interesting mafia read. It had many twists and turns and the chemistry between Luca and Fallon was hot! I can’t wait for more!
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and it definitely won’t be my last. I absolutely loved it! This truly was the perfect mafia romance for me. I enjoyed all of the characters; the good and the bad, but my favorites were definitely Fallon, Teagan, Luca, Adriano and Camilla. I loved that this was a slow burn romance read, it made the anticipation of waiting to see what would between Fallon and Luca all worth it. I enjoyed watching how Luca and Adrino had each others backs. This book had it all; laughs, romance, steam, suspense, lies, betrayal and mafia bosses that will do whatever it takes to protect what they have and get what they want. Just when everyone thought it would be safe, Alex throws a twist in there that no one saw coming and I can’t wait to see what happens. The one thing I do know is that as much as Fallon wants to stay away from Luca and the mafia, sometimes life has a way of pushing you back into unwanted territory. This book did not disappoint. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series because this one ends with a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more and have you wondering, what really happened with Danny.
What can i say a truly amazing story about Fallon & Luca, you brought on twists and turns between them, i was pulled right in to the story from the get go, a must read
