Harry Boyle’s genius IQ has failed him. The alpha geek stupidly followed relationship advice from Invertary’s resident evil mastermind—eighty-seven year old Betty. That’s how he ended up trapped in an abandoned mine waiting to be rescued by his high school crush. The same crush he still loves. The one he’s come back to town to claim.
Magenta Fraser doesn’t want to be claimed—what is this? The … this? The Stone Age? The sarcastic Goth with a fondness for hitting first and asking questions later has been avoiding Harry. He’s her Kryptonite. Around him she loses her badass powers and becomes a pathetic giggling girl. As the local caving expert, she has no choice but to rescue the man. But that doesn’t mean she has to talk to him. Or touch him. Or do any of the other X-rated things that keep popping into her mind. All she has to do is resist him, rescue him and then run from him—before he uncovers her secret.

The 3rd book in the series about Magenta did not disappoint. I loved everything about Magenta personality and learning more about the characters in this town.
A cute story and an irritating one. I’m afraid I’d clobber Harry if given the chance. Some funny scenes that got me laughing. A happy for now ending. No foul language. Sexual situations. Well worth reading.
I’ve enjoyed the Invertary world and the characters that inhabit it. Magenta Mine was not my favorite of the series, but I would still recommend reading it.
Fun read in the series
I liked the characters. They were likable and realistic. Simple fun read for a a little escape from reality.
Interesting and moving books
I enjoyed reading this book, very well written.
A good “popcorn” read, if you want a quick read. Interesting characters and the plot moves along nicely.
Funny romance with men who are like cavemen in their possessiveness.
Third book of read in this series ,I love Betty she is a truly twisted old lady who has minor parts in all the ones I’ve read
A troll and a mine – what else are you looking for? Betty, the troll, is back and hatches a plan for Harry to get some alone time with Magenta – you know it won’t end well because it’s Betty’s plan. But Harry is persistent — and gorgeous, brilliant, sexy as hell — and he will get Magenta. Favorite paragraph – okay, one of my faves – is the first one in chapter 3. The story is very entertaining, and while there are many ‘characters’ in the town of Invertary, they’re not so outlandish as to be clowns; they’re all too human and it comes through delightfully well. LOVE IT!!
An entertaining afternoon read. Had me chuckling many times.
Great story. Loved it
Love this story and this series. So funny!
I LOVE ALL of her books!
This is the third book in the Invertary Series by Janet Elizabeth Henderson. Magenta and Harry have been best friends since grammar school. Harry has always loved Magenta. He comes back to Scotland to open up his business back in his old home town. Harry is a genius – yes a real life genius. He has also come back to claim Magenta and to marry her. Magenta is totally opposite of Harry. She dropped out of school at the age of 13 and feels life a complete failure and has trouble reading and writing. She works in the lingerie shop but dreams of taking her caving exams to run a cave excursion business. Yes, there is such a business. She hides the fact that she doesn’t read and write well from everyone. She feels she’s too dumb for Harry. What follows is a mad cap adventure featuring all the crazy town people from the first two books of the series.
This was an amusing and entertaining read. Poor Harry is trying to get some “quality” time to talk to Magenta and finally gets his chance when Magenta arrives to rescue him from the mine he’s gotten trapped in.
SPOILER – Harry still seduces Magenta with word and touch, even though he knows the crowd waiting outside can hear them within the chamber. He thus causes her embarrassment, although he’s applauded for his way with words. That he did not consider her feelings bothered me a bit.
Enjoying this series!! Well written, great character and story building. But…not nearly as funny as Good Two Shoes!!
This is the third book in the Invertary series. It’s short, sweet, and sassy. Magenta Mine is a novella so it goes quickly. The second book, Goody Two Shoes, is still my favorite, but Harry and Magenta are a good addition to the series.
