1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover writes a free novella about the search for happily ever after. A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love has conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe. When their hour is up and the girl rushes off … is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.
One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. But Daniel soon realizes that fairytales don’t exist, and unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.more
Short and sweet, but sadly not enough substance. This book really had a lot of potential, especially considering it’s also part of a series. The characters were underdeveloped, the plot was rushed, and it all felt like a quick fix to a problem that the author wished to address. I would have loved to see more of Six and Daniel between the year time-span that this short story covers. If it hadn’t been so sex focused and more plot focused, I think it could’ve been great. Sadly, it left me wanting and disappointed.
In true Hoover fashion, this book starts out just eh, and takes a little bit to really grip me, but once it does the real feels come in hard and it doesn’t let go. Also typical of Hoover, the plot isn’t exactly original but she brings originality to it, if that makes sense. Through epic characters, and, I know I already mentioned the feels but she seems to bring them like no one else.
I love the look at characters I’ve seen before in beloved books by the same author, very fun.
4.5 stars
Note:
I listened to the audiobook; the narrator was fine. Not one I’d specifically seek out, but one i didn’t mind listening to for a couple hours. (Which for me, is praise, I cannot listen to most narrators.)
The only thing wrong with this story is that it is too short. I knew going in that it is a novella so that isn’t a fair statement but now I have to determine if the author continues their story in another book. Young love usually ends in heartache. This story had a different twist to the heartache.
I read any book by this author, as I like her style of telling a story.
I’ve had this in my TBR for a very long time. I hadn’t paid attention that it was part of a series starting with Holder and Sky’s gut wrenching story of inner strength and love. I had wondered about Six. Well, today I went searching in my list of books and found her story.
The secrets she and Sky kept from each other showed not their weakness or even their most painful experiences. No. Their secrets were of strength and survival. And yet I’m sad they didn’t have each other through some of the hardest times of their lives. In the end, Sky had Holder. Six had only the idea of the young man she pretended to love one day for less than an hour. Less than an hour to change her life forever. Less than an hour to a nameless, faceless person who impacted her immensely.
Daniel remembers Cinderella. She’s a dream and no one compares. Until Six. She’s everything. She fits bumps! She refuses to stroke his ego. He’s taken her to dinner, kissed her, met her family, and yet the most significant memory of her life and his is yet to be discovered. Life changing, really. Character building. Strengthening. When pretending turns into reality.
Beautiful story of growing up and falling in love; flaws and all.
I loved this novella about Daniel and Six from the Hopeless series. I didn’t even know how much I wanted this story until I was reading it. As with all Hoover novels, there is a lot of emotion and the kind of story that automatically pulls you in and makes it so difficult for you to put the book down! I wanted to sit and read and read and read and if I didn’t have a job to get to I probably would have!
I love how Daniel has nicknames for everyone and I love the nickname he gives Six. I think that the relationship with Val at the beginning helps to show that just because we really like someone, or even just because we are lonely is not a reason to continue a relationship in which we are unhappy a majority of the time. There are too many teens (and older people even) who stick around in relationships because of the good times, or because they still feel some fondness for the person. If there is more bad than good, walk away!
I also really enjoyed being able to see Sky and Holder again, even as secondary characters. All of Hoover’s characters really stick with you and you find yourself thinking about them after the book is over, so seeing them in another book is like a visit from an old friend.
I have no excuse for just now having read Finding Cinderella. But truth be told, I pretty much totally forgot about it until I was pulling CoHo books for a bookstagram photo. I was between reads at the time, so I decided to jump in and I’m really glad I did. This is a short novella, but it packed a pretty good emotional punch. Which is, you know, not surprising when it comes to a CoHo book.
It’s been ages since I read Hopeless or Losing Hope, but I was able to jump right back into that world with absolutely no problem. Is it ok to say I’ve missed Sky and Holder? I just didn’t realize how much until they popped up in this novella. They were one of my first favorite CoHo couples and they remain one even still today. But, I digress. Finding Cinderella isn’t about Sky and Holder, though they play a part in the story. The stars of the show here are Six and Daniel. And man, did they ever shine.
I was sucked into the story here from the very first page. I mean, how could I not be? CoHo knows how to get me every single time. This was no exception. Since it’s a novella, there’s not a whole lot of build up before the story really gets going and I was happy for that. (Though, to be honest, I found myself also wishing this was a full-length novella because I loved Six and Daniel together so much.) They both had their quirks and they were a little over the top at times, but they just… fit. It was great to see them get their second chance, so to speak, after their initial, unconventional meetings and what ensued as a result. They “got” each other and it was apparent. What a great pairing and what a wonderful story.
Finding Cinderella is a gem. I’m sorry I waited so long to read it, but I’m also kinda happy because it spread the series love out a little. I grinned my way through about 3/4 of the book, soaking in the swoons and the humor. And, because it’s a CoHo book, you better believe there were tears. Such a perfect little story. Though, I admit, what it really did was make me want to revisit Hopeless and Losing Hope, so I think I’ll be adding those to my “to be reread” list pretty soon…

“Ignore it all. I want to kiss you and I want you to want me to kiss you and I don’t really feel like waiting until I walk you to your porch tonight because I’ve never really wanted to kiss someone this much before.”
“I used to hate everybody. Until I met you.”
Loved this book.
Sweet
Author Colleen Hoover has done it again. I absolutely adore Six, Daniel and everything about them, from their first encounter in the closet to ending back in a full circle type of moment. I loved the playfulness of the characters including Daniel’s parents will have you laughing out loud. I would love another book with Six, Daniel, Sky and Dean. This book is a great addition to Hopeless and I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read an amazing funny romantic read. This novella can be enjoyed even if you haven’t read Hopeless but both books are definitely worth reading. Hopeless is a truly unforgettable book!
